Indications Nevigramon
It is used for therapy in the development of infections in the gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract caused by the activity of microbes sensitive to the effects of drugs.
Among such diseases are cystitis with cholecystitis, urethritis and pyelonephritis with prostatitis. In addition, antibacterial drugs are prescribed to prevent complications after surgical procedures.
Release form
The medicine is released in capsules, which are packed in bottles of 56 pieces. There is 1 such bottle inside the box.
Pharmacodynamics
The active element of the drug has an antibacterial effect and belongs to the category of quinolones.
The acid inhibits the processes of replication and polymerization of bacterial DNA.
The drug demonstrates effectiveness against gram-negative microbes (Shigella, Friedlander's bacillus, Proteus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella), excluding Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Taking into account the sensitivity of the bacteria to the drug effect and its level in the body, the drug can have a bactericidal or bacteriostatic effect.
Sensitivity to the drug is demonstrated by microbes and their strains that are resistant to sulfonamides and antibiotics.
The drug does not suppress the activity of gram-positive bacteria and anaerobes. In addition, resistance to it often develops.
Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration, the drug is rapidly absorbed. The bioavailability level is 95%, and synthesis with blood protein is approximately 93%. Peak values are observed after 1-2 hours from the moment of taking the capsule. It is distributed mainly within the renal tissue.
Once inside the liver cells, the drug undergoes metabolism.
The excretion of the substance is carried out by the kidneys.
Dosing and administration
The medicine is taken orally, 1 hour before meals.
The size of the dosage portions and the duration of treatment should be determined by the doctor. Usually, an adult is prescribed 8 capsules (they contain 4 g of nalidixic acid), which must be divided into 4 doses. Such treatment lasts approximately 7 days. After that, it is allowed to reduce the daily portion to 0.5 g (taking 4 capsules with the above frequency of use).
Adolescents over 12 years of age, weighing more than 40 kg, are prescribed to take 50 mg/kg of the substance 3-4 times a day.

Interactions with other drugs

The drug can potentiate the medicinal effect of oral anticoagulants (coumarin derivatives and warfarin). Therefore, with such combinations, it is necessary to monitor the PTI values and, if necessary, reduce the daily dose of anticoagulants.
