Neladex is a complex medicine with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity.

Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic with a wide range of therapeutic effects. It has a bactericidal effect, disrupting the processes of protein binding inside bacterial cells.

Polymyxin B is a polypeptide antibiotic that is synthesized with phospholipids of the walls of bacterial cells, thereby causing their destruction.

Dexamethasone is a SCS substance that does not have a mineralocorticoid effect. It has a strong anti-inflammatory, and in addition to this desensitizing and antiallergic effect.

Indications Neladex

It is used in case of inflammation affecting eye tissues, accompanied by the risk of surface bacterial infection or its development (keratitis or conjunctivitis ). During such diseases, administration of corticosteroids is prescribed.

In addition, it is prescribed in the case of an external type of otitis (chronic or active phase) or with an average otitis of an active nature, not accompanied by rupture of the eardrum.

Release form

The release of drugs is in the form of drops, inside the bottle droppers with a capacity of 5 ml.

Pharmacodynamics

The neomycin component affects gram-negative and positive bacteria, including pneumococci, Proteus with Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Shigella. In respect of streptococci and Pseudomonas purge, its activity is rather low.

It has no effect on viruses and pathogenic fungi, as well as anaerobic microflora. Bacterial resistance to neomycin develops slowly and slowly.

Polymyxin B has an effect on Gram-negative microbes, including enterobacteria, shigella salmonella, hemophilic, intestinal and whooping cough, and Klebsiella. It has a high activity against Pseudomonas purpura. It does not affect Neisseria and Proteus, and in addition, gram-positive microorganisms and anaerobes of obligate nature.

Cholera vibrios (excluding the eltor subgroup) and coccidioides immitis exhibit sensitivity to polymyxin B, but most fungi are resistant to this substance.

Dexamethasone successfully inhibits inflammation, the release of inflammatory conductors through eosinophils and the movement of mastocytes, and with it strengthens the strength of the capillaries.

Dosing and administration

Shake the bottle before use. When instilling it is necessary to ensure that the tip of the dropper does not touch the eyelids, eyes and other surfaces, because this can lead to its infection with microbes.

Light types of pathology require instillation of 1-2 drops inside the conjunctival sac (4-6 times a day). In the case of severe infections, drops are used every hour, but this mode can be used for a maximum of 2 days. The frequency of the procedures can be reduced to 2-3 days per day. The duration of the course of therapy is personally selected by the doctor.

After completing the instillation, it is necessary to close the eyelids tightly or occlude the nasolacrimal duct. Such manipulations can weaken the systemic absorption of ophthalmic substances, which reduces the risk of common negative signs.

The duration of therapy and the execution of repeated cycles are determined by the severity of the disease and drug efficacy. Often the duration of treatment is 6-10 days.

In case of otitis of the external form (for example, eczema with an infected character affecting the external auditory canal) or the active phase of otitis media without a rupture of the eardrum, 1-5 drops are instilled into both ears 2 times a day.

The duration of the course of therapy is determined by the doctor, based on the intensity and nature of the disease. On average, this cycle lasts 1 week.

Before using the drug, you need to hold the bottle a little in your hand to warm the medicine. Under the pressure of the drug can not be entered. For instillation, the head is tilted in the desired direction, and then it is held in that position for several minutes after the procedure has been completed.

  • keratitis triggered by bacteria of common herpes;
  • conjunctival and corneal viruses (this includes chickenpox with cowpox);
  • untreated purulent eye lesions;

The use of Neladex can cause negative manifestations associated with dexamethasone or antibacterial agents, as well as their combination. Common side effects may develop in case of intensive use of drugs.

Symptoms of intolerance usually have a delayed form, which is often observed with the local use of neomycin.

Among the negative manifestations:

  • immune lesions: increased sensitivity;
  • ophthalmologic disorders: an increase in the level of IOP, which can further cause glaucoma and the formation of a posterior subcapsular cataract type. In addition, wound regeneration may be slowed down (in the case of diseases in which thinning of the sclera or cornea occurs, and in addition perforation of the fibrous membrane associated with the local use of the GCS may occur). In addition, photophobia, visual clouding, ptosis that affects the eyelids, keratitis, mydriasis, pain or discomfort in the eye area, feeling of a foreign object, eye irritation, conjunctivitis, increased tearing, corneal discoloration, dry keratoconjunctivitis, visual impairment, flake formation, margin of the eyelids and corneal erosion;
  • disorders associated with the work of NA: dizziness, dysgeusia or headaches;
  • lesions associated with the subcutaneous layer and the epidermis: symptoms of severe sensitivity, including irritation, redness, rashes, swelling, itching and contact dermatitis.

The appearance of secondary infections may be associated with the introduction of combinations, including antimicrobial elements and corticosteroids.

Overdose

There may be clinical manifestations of intoxication with Neladex (erythema, itching or swelling, affecting the eyelids, keratitis of the point nature and increased tearing), which are similar to side effects that occur in individual patients. Prolonged intensive use may cause the development of common negative symptoms.

In case of overdose with medication during local administration, it is necessary to wash its surplus from the eye with warm water. Symptomatic actions are performed.

Interactions with other drugs
