Release form

The medicine is produced in the form of nasal drops, in glass bottles with a capacity of 5 or 10 ml. It can also be produced in plastic dropper bottles with a capacity of 10, 15 or 20 ml. There is 1 such bottle inside the pack.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug stimulates the activity of α2-adrenergic receptors, and in addition reduces swelling, hyperemia and exudation in the mucous membrane, and has a vasoconstrictor effect on the nasal mucosa.

For people with a runny nose, the use of drops helps to facilitate the breathing process through the nose.

After 5-7 days of using the drug, tolerance to it develops.

Pharmacokinetics

After applying the substance to the mucous membrane, it acts locally on it, narrowing the superficial vessels. Because of this, the absorption and resorptive effect of the active element do not develop. Partial absorption occurs in the case of prolonged and frequent use of drops, and this can cause an increase in blood pressure.

Dosing and administration

The drops are administered intranasally – they are instilled into each nostril. Adults require 1-3 drops 3-4 times a day (0.1% solution).

In addition, it is used for diagnostic purposes. It is necessary to clear the nasal passages and drip 3-4 drops of the drug into each of them or insert a tampon into them, which was previously moistened in a 0.05% aqueous solution. Then the tampons are left in the nose for 60-120 seconds.

If the medicine is used for inhalation procedures, then the 0.05% solution is diluted using saline in a 1:1 ratio. Such inhalations can only be performed after consulting a doctor.

Use of a pediatric form of a medicinal product.

Children are usually prescribed a 0.05% aqueous solution - for the age category of 1-6 years in a portion of 1-2 drops, and for children aged 6-15 years - in a dosage of 2 drops. The procedure is performed 1-3 times a day. If necessary, a 0.025% solution can be used. To obtain it, a 0.05% Naphthyzinum solution is diluted with distilled water.

To eliminate ophthalmological disorders, the medicine can be used only with the permission of a doctor. It is necessary to establish the appropriate diagnosis and clarify with the doctor whether Naphthyzinum can be used to treat eyes. Usually, a 0.05% solution is used for these procedures (1-2 drops instilled into the conjunctival cavity), and they are carried out 1-3 times a day. The first of these procedures should be carried out under the supervision of the attending physician.

It is also only permissible to use the drug in blocked ears with the permission of a doctor.
