Naklof is a cyclooxygenase inhibitor. It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties and also slows down the process of PG synthesis.
Indications Naclof
Indications for use include:
- a prophylactic agent against miosis, as well as inflammation, as well as yellow edema of the macular region in the period after cataract removal or implantation of an eye lens;
- an inflammatory process not caused by an infection, in which the anterior parts of the eye are involved (chronic form of non-infectious conjunctivitis, etc.);
- inflammatory process after trauma (due to non-penetrating/penetrating injury to the eyeball) as an auxiliary drug in local anti-infective treatment;
- pain resulting from procedures using an excimer laser.

Release form
It is produced in the form of a solution of eye drops in 5 ml bottles.
Pharmacodynamics
NSAID, derivative of α-toluic acid, which suppresses COX types 1 and 2, and in addition, prevents the metabolism of eicosatetraenoic acid and reduces the concentration of Pg in the inflammatory focus. As a result of local use of the drug, pain and swelling in non-infectious inflammations are reduced.
Dosing and administration
The medicine should be instilled into the conjunctival sac. Before the operation - in the amount of 1 drop (5 times in 3 hours), after the operation - instill three times in a dosage of 1 drop. After this, in the future, you need to instill 1 drop 3-5 times a day throughout the course of treatment. In some cases, the dosage may be 1 drop 4-5 times a day.
Use Naclof during pregnancy
The use of the solution may be permitted only in cases of urgent need.
Contraindications
Contraindications include: individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Use with caution:
- if you have a history of allergies to aspirin-type medications;
- with aspirin triad;
- in superficial form of herpetic keratitis (also in the anamnesis);
- in pathologies that provoke problems with blood clotting (such as hemophilia, and in addition to this, with prolonged bleeding time, as well as a tendency to develop bleeding).
Side effects Naclof
When using the solution, the following side effects are possible:
- temporary burning sensation (may be mild or moderate);
- transient loss of visual acuity immediately after instillation of drops;
- allergy to the drug (appearance of itching, development of photophobia and redness of the conjunctiva).
Interactions with other drugs
Storage conditions
The medicine should be stored in standard conditions for medicines, temperature within 15-25°C. The storage place should be inaccessible to children.
Shelf life
Naklof is allowed to be used for 2.5 years from the date of manufacture of the medicine. After opening the bottle - within 1 month.
