Melissa herb is a medicine with sedative and hypnotic effects.
The therapeutic drug exhibits analgesic, carminative, antispasmodic, diuretic, as well as bactericidal, sedative and antihypertensive activity. In addition, it reduces the rate of breathing, improves digestive processes, reduces the tension of the smooth muscles of the intestine, reduces increased heart rate, and at the same time stimulates the secretion of digestive enzymes.

It is used in combination therapy of states of agitation associated with general nervousness (excitability, increased emotional activity, and irritability), VSD, insomnia, and stress-related changes in blood pressure.

Release form
The product is sold in the form of crushed grass - inside 50 g packs. It is also produced in the form of coarse powder, inside filter bags with a capacity of 1.5 g (20 bags in a box).
Pharmacodynamics
Melissa helps to reduce blood pressure, and also slows down the heartbeat and breathing rate. In addition, it has a bactericidal, calming and diaphoretic effect. It also has astringent, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, analgesic, diuretic, antidiabetic, choleretic and mild hypnotic properties.
The medicine helps to strengthen the nervous system, increases salivation processes, improves digestive function, appetite and metabolism. Helps to renew blood and lymph, and also acts effectively in case of headaches.
Dosing and administration
Before starting therapy, a consultation with a doctor is required.
The crushed herb (1 tablespoon) is poured into a container, which is then filled with boiled water (0.2 l). After this, the container is covered with a lid and kept in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. The resulting decoction is infused for 45 minutes, after which it is filtered and the remaining raw material is squeezed out. The volume of the resulting tincture must be brought to 0.2 l by adding boiled water.
An adult should drink warm infusion – ⅓ of a glass, 3 times a day, before meals (15-20 minutes).
Children:
- for children aged 3-5 years, the dosage is 1 teaspoon;
- 5-7 years – 1 dessert spoon;
- 7-12 years – 1 tablespoon;
- 12-14 years – consume 2 tablespoons;
- over 14 years old – ¼ cup.
Before taking the tincture, shake it.
The medicine in filter bags is prepared according to the following scheme: 2 filter bags are filled with boiling water (0.2 l), after which the container is covered and infused for 15 minutes.
Adults drink 0.5 glass of warm infusion 3-4 times a day (15-20 minutes before meals).
Children use warm medicine 3 times a day, also before meals (15-20 minutes):
- age 3-5 years – take 1 dessert spoon;
- category 5-7 years – use 1 tablespoon;
- group of 7-12 years old – use 2 tablespoons;
- age 12-14 years – take ¼ glass;
- persons over 14 years of age – use ⅓ glass.
The duration of the treatment cycle is selected by the doctor individually.
Use Melissa herbs during pregnancy
There is no information regarding the use of the drug during breastfeeding or pregnancy.
Contraindications
Contraindicated for use in cases of severe intolerance to the drug elements, as well as in cases of low blood pressure.
