Medulac has osmotic and laxative medicinal activity.

Indications Medulaka

It is used to prevent such violations:

  • constipation, in which it is necessary to stabilize the physiological activity of the intestine;
  • intestinal dysbiosis ;
  • putrid type of dyspepsia;
  • having a diverse etiology of enteritis.

In addition, it is used to soften the stool before medical procedures - for example, in the case of operations in the colon, after performing such procedures and in the presence of hemorrhoids.

Release form

The issue is made in the form of a syrup, inside the bottles with a capacity of 0.25 l, complete with a special measuring cup.

Pharmacodynamics

The active element of this medicine, lactulose, is an artificial derivative of lactose. The substance can not be dissolved inside the gastrointestinal tract, because it lacks enzymes, and it is practically not absorbed.

Lactulose is converted to α-hydroxypropionic, methane and ethanoic acid. At the same time, pH decreases, and the level of osmotic pressure inside the intestinal lumen increases, which increases the volume and stabilizes the consistency of feces. However, the drug stimulates the activity of intestinal peristalsis. All this leads to the gradual elimination of obstipation and restoration of the physiological rhythm of bowel emptying. The development of a laxative effect is observed after 1-2 days from the start of the application.

Lactulose contributes to the excretion of bile acids, which further reduces the indices of cholesterol inside the bile and blood.

There is also the ability of the drug to inhibit the growth of Salmonella inside the colon, and in addition to improving the absorption of Ca salts and phosphates (this does not weaken the absorption of vitamins with mineral components).

Pharmacokinetics

Medulac has a rather weak absorption, almost no absorption. The active element of drugs penetrates into the colon, where it is broken down by the action of the intestinal flora.

The drug is fully involved in metabolic processes when used in small portions. With the introduction of large doses, the excretion of a part of the drug is carried out in an unchanged state.

Dosing and administration

Syrup should be taken orally. The selection of therapeutic regimen and dosage portions is carried out taking into account the medical result and the patient's personal characteristics.

In case of obstruction and other disorders, the medication is used 1 time per day, it is recommended to use it in the morning, along with breakfast. The development of exposure is observed after 1-2 days. If in 2 days the effect of the reception did not occur, the portion can be increased.

Children syrup is used in portions of 5-10 ml, and adults - in the dosage of 15-45 ml of the substance.

With a supporting treatment cycle, it is necessary to slightly reduce the dosage, selecting it so as to get 2-3 bowel movements per day. The treatment course can last from 3 months.

If it is impossible to take the medicine inside, it is applied through an enema.

Use Medulaka during pregnancy

Even considering that only limited information exists regarding the use of lactulose in pregnancy, there is no information about the appearance of abnormalities in fetal development or the occurrence of neo- or fetonatal toxicity. Animal tests do not show an indirect or direct negative effect on the course of pregnancy, fetal development, delivery or postnatal development.

If necessary, it is allowed to consider options with the use of Medulac during lactation or pregnancy.

Contraindications

The main contraindications:

  • the presence of intolerance regarding the elements of the drug;
  • galactosemia;
  • hypolactasia and intolerance to fructose or galactose;
  • intestinal blockage.

Side effects Medulaka

At the initial stage of therapy, the syrup can lead to bloating, which disappears after a few days. In addition, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting may occur.

Overdose

During intoxication pains occur in the abdominal area and diarrhea.

To eliminate these symptoms, it is necessary to reduce the dose of the drug or completely cancel it.

Interactions with other drugs

With the combined use of the drug with antacids or antibiotics, a weakening of its therapeutic effect is observed.

When combined with enteric substances, whose release depends on pH values, it is necessary to take into account that lactulose is able to reduce the indices of intestinal pH, thereby affecting the release of such drugs.
