Indocollyre 0.1% has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Indications Indocollira 0.1%
It is used as a means of slowing down miosis before surgical procedures in the anterior chamber of the eye (for example, in the case of cataracts), and also to prevent the occurrence of Irvine-Gass syndrome after surgery.
The drug is also used in other operations in the area of the eyeball - as a therapy and prevention of the development of inflammations of various origins.
In addition, it is prescribed for the treatment of conjunctivitis of a non-infectious nature and for pain that develops after PRK sessions.
The drops are used in combination with local antimicrobial therapy – in the treatment or prevention of inflammation caused by injuries (due to wounds in the area of the eyeball, including penetrating ones).
Release form
The substance is released in the form of eye drops (0.1% liquid), inside special dropper bottles with a capacity of 5 ml. There is 1 such bottle in the box.
Pharmacodynamics
Indocollyre affects the body by slowing down the processes of PG synthesis, which are the main phase of inflammatory and pain pathogenesis. This occurs by reducing the activity of the COX enzyme under the influence of indomethacin.
The component indomethacin is an NSAID, capable of reducing the intensity of inflammation and the severity of pain when used locally. The effect develops by suppressing the development and transmission of pain impulses within neural structures. At the same time, the drug weakens the binding of thromboxane class A, which increases the bleeding period.
Pharmacokinetics
After instillation of the medication into the conjunctival sac, weak systemic absorption of the active element occurs.
Dosing and administration
To slow down miosis during surgery, it is necessary to instill 1 drop of the medicine into the conjunctival sac before the procedure. It should be repeated four times during the 2 hours before the surgery, so the intervals between instillations should be at least 30 minutes.
To prevent the occurrence of Irvine-Gass syndrome, it is necessary to instill 1 drop of the drug 3-4 times a day for 30 days after the operation.
For other disorders, the medication is administered in portions of 1 drop 3-4 times per day, over a period of 1-4 weeks. The duration of treatment and the size of the portions are selected taking into account the nature of the course of the disease and the severity of the patient's condition.
Use Indocollira 0.1% during pregnancy
No in-depth clinical tests of the drug have been conducted to determine its safety in pregnant or lactating mothers.
In this case, the use of the drug is allowed during the first 5 months of pregnancy - under the supervision of the attending physician and with the condition that the possible help for the woman is much more likely than the risk of consequences for the fetus. Then, starting from the 6th month, the drug is prohibited to use, because its use can cause a disorder in the respiratory system, cardiovascular system and kidneys of the fetus.
The active ingredient of Indocollyre, indomethacin, is excreted in breast milk, which is why breastfeeding should be avoided during therapy.

With prolonged use of the drug, conjunctivitis or corneal opacity could develop, as well as other negative manifestations provoked by the action of indomethacin;

Interactions with other drugs
Indocollyre can be used in combination with other eye drops, including those containing GCS.
