Pharmacodynamics
The mechanism of action of Holisal is due to the combination of its two active elements.
Choline salicylate has an effective analgesic effect on the treatment area and removes inflammation. This component reduces the activity of COX and macrophages with neutrophils. If the mouth is acidic, the drug can have an antimicrobial and antimycotic effect. The analgesic effect of the drug lasts on average about 2-8 hours.
Cetalkonium chloride has a powerful disinfectant effect. It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. At the same time, it destroys viral and fungal microorganisms.
Also, the gel base itself, together with the elements contained in it, is capable of providing antibacterial and antimycotic effects. The special structure of the gel allows it to be effectively absorbed into tissues, quickly reaching the nerve receptors, and also to remain on the oral mucosa for a long time. The drug almost does not enter the circulatory system.
Dosing and administration
The medicinal gel should only be used for local treatment of affected areas of the mouth.
It is necessary to apply the medicine before or after meals (within a 15-minute interval), rubbing it with a finger into the affected area of the mucous membrane. This procedure must be performed 2-3 times a day. For children, a 0.5 cm strip of gel is required, and for adults - 1 cm.
To treat periodontosis, it is necessary to treat the pockets formed inside the gums with gel, or to make gel compresses for the gums.
It is not recommended to use the drug for children under 3 years of age. For stomatitis, the medicine is applied to the affected areas half an hour before eating. In addition, you can rub the drug (0.5 cm) into the mucous membrane for 2 minutes.

Reviews
Holisal receives good reviews regarding its use during teething (both in children and adults). The drug effectively and quickly eliminates inflammation, relieves pain and cools. When applied before bedtime, the effect of its use will last almost all night. Holisal also has an antipyretic effect. Many patients positively note that the gel does not contain lidocaine - due to the fact that it can cause pronounced allergy symptoms.
The effect of the drug in the treatment of stomatitis is also positively noted. It significantly reduces pain and reduces the severity of the inflammatory process (in about 20 minutes) after just a few minutes. When applying compresses at night, you can almost completely get rid of the negative signs of stomatitis.
