Indications Gentaxan
It is used in case of such violations:
- infected wounds in various places, having different etiologies;
- infected wounds after surgical procedures (abscesses with phlegmon and postoperative suppuration);
- having 2nd or 3rd degree burns;
- trophic ulcers that appear due to chronic venous insufficiency, thrombophlebitis in the subcutaneous veins of the legs, or obliterating atherosclerosis;
- erysipelas of various types;
- bedsores;
- weakening of regenerative processes associated with weakened immunity, diabetes mellitus or radiation damage;
- prevention of the development of sepsis that occurs with extensive purulent infections;
- preventing the formation of keloids.
Release form
The medicinal product is produced in the form of a powder for external use, in 2 g vials or 5 g dropper vials.
Pharmacodynamics
The medicine contains the aminoglycoside substance gentamicin sulfate, as well as an organic silicon sorbent (methoxane) and a zinc-tryptophan coordination bond.
The element gentamicin sulfate is an antibiotic with a wide range of bactericidal activity. It demonstrates high efficiency in eliminating pathogenic gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus, mycobacteria and streptococci) and -negative bacteria (Shigella, Klebsiella, Serratia, Proteus with Salmonella, Escherichia coli, and in addition Citrobacter, Aerobacter aeruginosa, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Providencia and Yersinia).
Polymethylsiloxane helps to provide a sorption-detoxifying effect, and in addition, in combination with zinc tryptophan, it has an antibacterial effect (for 8 days).
Gentaxan already on the 2-3rd day reduces the number of microbes inside the wound to the extreme lower mark (101-103 per 1 g), and at the same time increases the speed of transition from the hydration stage to the dehydration stage and prevents the appearance of suppuration. Sorption activity allows the drug to absorb toxic products of the functioning of pathogenic bacteria, toxic metabolic products of connective tissues, having a low-molecular nature (polypeptides with lactate, pyruvic acid, lipids with products of amino acid oxidation, etc.), as well as fibrin degradation products.
The drug acts not only by preventing protein binding with bacteria, but also by destroying the bilipid layer of the plasmalemma. The drug reduces the severity of systemic and local intoxication, providing a drainage effect, antibacterial activity, and also stabilizing gas exchange, pH level and microcirculation inside the wound. Thanks to all this, the wound is cleared of elements of tissue decomposition and functioning, and in addition, there is stimulation of granulation growth, improved regeneration, prevention of keloid formation and treatment of inflammation.
Gentaxan is used to heal burns because it reduces the size of deep lesions, reduces inflammation during their treatment, prevents tissue destruction, increases the rate of formation of the granulation surface in case of deep lesions and produces epithelialization in case of superficial burns. In addition, the drug helps prepare the wound for autodermoplasty.
Dosing and administration
Gentaxan is a drug for local treatment, which is used throughout the entire course of treatment of wound surfaces until they are completely healed.
At the initial stage (1-5 days) it is necessary to change the bandage 1-2 times a day, and later, when the inflammation subsides, the wound is cleared of masses of pus and dead tissue and the granulation process begins, this procedure is carried out once every 2 days.
Wound lesions should be treated using a special dropper plug with a hole in it. The procedure is performed after surgical manipulations and washing the affected area with antiseptic solutions (the skin must be dried after this so that the medicinal substance is applied evenly (in a layer of 0.5-1 mm), completely covering the wound). If the lesion is too extensive (for example, a burn), approximately 8-12 g of the medicine can be used at a time.
After treatment with powder, drainage is performed, after which a tight bandage is applied. In case of burns, the affected area is treated with the medicine for 5-6 days (use for up to 15 days is allowed). It is necessary to fix the medicine on the wound using a disinfectant bandage.
When changing bandages, it is very important to completely remove the remaining powder from the wound area using antiseptics or special shampoos for treating wounds. The medicine can be used on any area of the patient's body.
In case of injuries (if full surgical treatment is not possible), the lesion is sprinkled with 1-4 g of powder (the amount of the substance depends on the area of injury), and then a bandage is applied to it (for a maximum of 24 hours).
Use Gentaxan during pregnancy
There is currently no information regarding the use of the drug during lactation or pregnancy. If the medication must be used during these periods, the doctor must assess the appropriateness of its use, taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient identified during diagnosis.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated to use the powder in case of severe sensitivity to medicinal elements.
Side effects Gentaxan
The use of Gentaxan may cause the appearance of individual negative reactions arising from gentamicin sulfate (such as itching, urticaria, contact dermatitis and signs of allergy in the form of erythema).

Overdose
In case of intoxication, signs of allergy may develop, in which case it is necessary to carry out desensitizing treatment and completely discontinue the use of the drug.
