Indications Helarium Hypericum

It is used to eliminate:

Release form

The drug is released in tablets, in the amount of 15 pieces inside a blister plate. The box contains 2 or 4 such plates.

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of the medicine is St. John's wort extract. This substance prevents the disorder of impulse transmission processes through neurotransmitters, and in addition, modulates the release of the IL-6 element and slows down the activity of MAO and COMT components.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications of the medication:

• lactase deficiency, hypolactasia, fructose or glucose-galactose malabsorption, as well as a deficiency of isomaltase or sucrase in the body;
• photosensitivity of the skin surface to ultraviolet radiation;
• combined use with tacrolimus, cyclosporine, and in addition amprenavir and indinavir, as well as other drugs that inhibit the activity of HIV protease (for example, in the case of treating patients with HIV-positive status). In addition, it cannot be combined with irinotecan, warfarin and MAOIs. If such therapy is necessary, intervals of at least 2 weeks should be maintained between medication doses;
• breastfeeding period.

Quite often, side effects affecting digestive activity also develop – in the form of abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, bloating, dry mouth, anorexia and constipation.

In addition, problems with the hematopoietic system may arise, for example, the development of iron deficiency anemia.

Overdose

Due to intoxication, the patient develops a potentiation of dosage-dependent manifestations.

Interactions with other drugs

Combination with the drug leads to weakening of medicinal effectiveness of such drugs as indirect anticoagulants (such as warfarin, phenprocoumon and imatinib), as well as other cytostatics, digoxin with nortriptyline, as well as amitriptyline. This list also includes: midazolam, theophylline, fexofenadine, methadone with benzodiazepine, as well as simvastatin and verapamil with finasteride.

Combination treatment with antidepressants (including sertraline, nefazodone, triptans, as well as paroxetine and buspirone) often potentiates their effect and causes adverse reactions – vomiting with nausea, feelings of confusion, anxiety or fear.

In some cases, the use of Gelarium Hypericum potentiates the photosensitizing properties of some medications: thiazide-type diuretics, tetracyclines, as well as piroxicam and quinolones with sulfonamides.

In addition, this drug can prolong sleep caused by opiates or general anesthetics, but at the same time shorten sleep caused by barbiturates.

A decrease in the antihypertensive effect of reserpine is observed, as well as a decrease in the levels of indinavir and cyclosporine in the blood.

The combination of the drug with ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel increases the likelihood of bleeding, as well as the rate of metabolic processes.

Combination with digoxin reduces its values in the blood, as well as the effectiveness of the effect.

If the patient uses oral contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancy, other contraceptive methods must be used during therapy with Gelarium Hypericum.

Application for children

Children under 12 years of age should not be given Gelarium Hypericum.
