Extraterrhea is a combined remedy used to treat colds and coughs.
Indications of the extraterrhea
It is used to eliminate the symptoms of coughing (especially if there are problems with excretion of sputum) with respiratory pathologies - for example, bronchogenic pneumonia, bronchitis, and tracheitis in addition.
Release form
Release in tablets, 12 pieces per blister. In a separate package contains 1-2 blister plates.
Pharmacodynamics
Extrasterm has on the body anti-inflammatory, as well as antitussive and mucolytic effects.
The substance of thermopsis potentiates the secretory function of the bronchial glands. The alkaloids contained in it (such as methylcytisine with cytisine, and in addition thermopsin with pachycarpine and thermopsidin, as well as anagyrin) have an exciting effect on the work of the respiratory center.
Sodium bicarbonate activates secretion processes inside the bronchial glands, thereby helping to reduce the viscosity of phlegm.
Dosing and administration
Medicine for adolescents over 12 years old, and in addition, adults are prescribed in a dosage of 1 tablet, with a dose 3-4 times a day.
Before drinking it is recommended to dissolve the medicine in warm water (a quarter of a glass) or to drink it with the indicated amount of liquid. The duration of the course is determined by the doctor - it depends on the result obtained and the course of the pathology.
Children 6-12 years old are required to take 0.5-1 tablets 2-3 times a day. It is necessary to first dissolve the drug in water (a quarter of a glass).

Use of the extraterrhea during pregnancy
Take Extraterm during lactation or pregnancy - is prohibited.
Contraindications
Among the contraindications:
- the presence of intolerance with respect to the constituent elements of the medication;
- pyelonephritis / glomerulonephritis in acute form;
- ulcer pathology in the area of the duodenum intestines or stomach, as well as hemoptysis;
- children under 6 years of age.
Side effects of the extraterrhea
Taking pills can cause some side effects, including allergies in the form of rashes, cutaneous edema and hyperemia with itching. There may also be manifestations of the gastrointestinal tract: vomiting with gastritis, nausea or diarrhea.
Overdose
As a result of an overdose, there is a feeling of weakness, vomiting, diarrhea and nausea, and also the appearance of cold sweat or dizziness, the appearance of pallor and blueing of the mucous membranes. In case of severe intoxication, convulsions and hallucinations may occur, as well as a disorder of consciousness and development of a feeling of arousal.
To remove violations, you need to rinse the affected stomach, and also give activated charcoal with salt laxatives. In addition, symptomatic treatment is performed.
Interactions with other drugs
Cytoprotectants, absorbing and astringent drugs are able to reduce the absorption of alkaloids of the thermopsis substance inside the gastrointestinal tract.
Antitussive tablets should not be combined with medicines containing a codeine component, as well as with other drugs that depress cough.
Storage conditions
Extrasterms should be kept in a place inaccessible to small children. Temperature indices - not more than 25 ° С.
