Pharmacodynamics
When vaginal capsules are inserted, lactobacilli penetrate directly into the vagina. These microorganisms have an antagonistic effect on pathogenic microflora. Such antagonism occurs due to the production of lactate, hydrogen peroxide, acidophilus, hydrolytic enzymes, and lactocidin, which appear as a result of the vital activity of lactic acid microorganisms. These bacteria do not affect healthy microflora. Their colonization helps to normalize the vaginal biocenosis, and in addition, stabilize the acid-base balance in the vagina. This process helps prevent the development of vaginal infections and inflammations, and also treats gardnerellosis.
As a result of taking the oral form of the drug, lactic acid microorganisms penetrate the intestine, adhering to its mucous membrane, and then begin to produce elements with antibacterial properties. This helps to normalize the balance of microflora in the intestine. Lactobacilli act as antagonists of opportunistic and pathogenic microflora. Under their influence, infections that provoke the development of inflammation in the intestine are eliminated and digestive disorders (of bacteriogenic origin) are eliminated, and in addition, the manifestations of pathogenic gas formation, which occurs due to the vital activity of pathogenic microflora, are weakened.
Lactobacilli help to normalize the part of the immune system for which the intestinal biocenosis is responsible. The activity of these microorganisms stimulates the process of synthesis of immunoglobulins and interferon, activates macrophages and phagocytes, and at the same time increases the production of lysozyme and stimulates T-cell immunity. Stabilization of the intestinal microflora allows for increased synthesis of calciferol, and in addition, improves the absorption of nutrients and vitamins.
Dosing and administration
To achieve a therapeutic effect, vaginal capsules should be used in a dosage of 1 capsule twice a day for 6 days. It is necessary to calculate the treatment course so as not to fall on the menstrual period. The course can be repeated if there are indications. For prevention, the medicine is administered 1 capsule before bedtime for 3-7 days. It can be administered using an applicator or simply with a finger. The procedure is best performed in a supine or sideways position (pulling the knees to the stomach).
The medicine is taken orally in the following doses: for children aged 4-6 years, 1 capsule once a day. For children aged 6 years and over, as well as adults, 1 capsule twice a day. The capsule should be taken before meals. It is forbidden to open it. Treatment with the oral form of the drug continues for 0.5-1 month.
