Devyasil rhizome

Elecampane rhizome is used to eliminate colds and coughs. It is included in the group of drugs with expectorant properties.

Indications Devyasil rhizomes

It is used to eliminate the following disorders:

• diseases affecting the respiratory system (pneumonia and tracheitis with bronchitis, as well as acute respiratory viral infections);
• pathologies in the gastrointestinal tract (enterocolitis with gastritis, digestive disorders and loss of appetite).

Release form

The product is produced in the form of a herbal collection, in 100 g packages, and in addition in a pack containing 20 filter bags with a volume of 4 g.

Pharmacodynamics

The bioactive elements of the drug have anti-inflammatory, choleretic, expectorant, antimicrobial, and in addition to this, tonic and diuretic effects.

The medicine stabilizes the secretory and motor activity of different parts of the gastrointestinal tract, and in addition, helps improve metabolic processes.

Dosing and administration

To prepare the tincture, pour 1 tablespoon of the mixture into a container, then add hot boiled water (0.2 l), then cover the container with a lid and leave to infuse for half an hour in a boiling water bath. Then cool the decoction for 10 minutes, filter and squeeze out the remainder. After this, bring the volume of the tincture to 0.2 l by adding boiled water.

The medicine should be taken warm, 2-3 times a day, 60 minutes before meals:

• a serving for teenagers over 14 years old and adults is 0.5 cups;
• The dose for children aged 12-14 years is a third of a glass;
• for children aged 7-12 years – the dose is 2 tablespoons;
• For children aged 3-7 years – serving size is 1 tablespoon.

The tincture must be shaken before use.

You need to take 2 filter bags and place them inside the cup, then pour boiling water into it (0.1 l), close the cup with a lid and leave to infuse (for about 15-20 minutes).

It is necessary to drink warm infusion 2-3 times a day, one hour before meals:

• for teenagers from 14 years old and adults – the serving size is 0.1 l;
• for children aged 12-14 years – the dose size is equal to one third of a glass;
• for children aged 7-12 years – a serving is 2 tablespoons;
• Children aged 3-7 years – the dosage is 1 tablespoon.

The duration of the treatment course is selected by the doctor for each patient individually.

Use Devyasil rhizomes during pregnancy

Prescribing Elecampane rhizome to lactating or pregnant women is contraindicated.

Contraindications

Main contraindications:

• the presence of hypersensitivity to the bioactive elements of the drug;
• severe forms of diseases affecting the kidneys and cardiovascular system.

Side effects Devyasil rhizomes

Use of the drug may lead to the appearance of allergy symptoms (including rashes, swelling and hyperemia), abdominal pain and heartburn.

If the patient develops side effects, the drug should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

Interactions with other drugs

It is prohibited to combine the drug with antitussive medications (this list includes drugs that contain dextromethorphan and codeine).

Storage conditions

Elecampane rhizome should be kept in a place closed to children, at a temperature of no more than 30ºС. The finished decoction can be stored for a maximum of 2 days at a temperature of 8-15ºС.

Shelf life

Elecampane rhizome can be used for 3 years from the date of release of the therapeutic agent.

Application for children

The medicine can only be used for children over 3 years of age.
