Dermadrin is an antipruritic drug with a local anesthetic effect. It is an antihistamine drug for topical use.
[1]
Indications of the dermadrine
It is used to eliminate signs of itching, local pain and hypersensitivity in such cases:
- with dermatitis (also itchy or allergic type);
- due to the bites of various insects;
- with eczema or urticaria;
- for thermal type burns (this includes sunburn);
- in case of development of itching in the area of abrasions and wound edges;
- with polymorphic rash (allergies to sunlight).
Pharmacodynamics
Dermadrin has a blocking effect on the receptors (H1) of diphenhydramine, and also selectively inhibits H1 histamine endings.
The component of diphenhydramine hydrochloride has a pronounced anti-allergic, as well as antihistamine effect and a powerful antipruritic effect. In addition, the medicine has analgesic properties.
The ointment contains a cream component, so it does not cause irritation and is evenly applied to the skin. At the heart of the medicine is an emulsion of water-oil type, which provides a cooling effect.
Pharmacokinetics
After local treatment, the active component of Dermadrin passes inside the subcutaneous tissues and skin. Anesthetic and antipruritic effects are manifested immediately after the application of drugs and lasts for 2-6 hours.
Dosing and administration
Ointment should be treated affected areas of the skin, taking into account the area of the affected part:
- for adolescents from 12 years and adults - apply 5-15 cm of ointment 3-4 times a day;
- children aged 6-12 years - use 8-10 cm of medication 3-4 times per day;
- children 2-6 years old - 3 cm Dermadrine, 2-3 procedures per day.
During the day, adolescents from 12 years and adults can not apply more than 300 mg of active substance LS (15 grams of ointment). This figure is about ¾ tube with a medicine (volume 20 g), 1/3 tube with a volume of 50 g, and also 1/6 tube with a volume of 100 g.
Children 6-12 years old can apply a maximum of 150 mg of the active ingredient Dermadrin per day, which is 41 cm ointment strip.
For children in the period of 2-6 years, a maximum of 37 mg of medicinal substance per day - about 10 cm of ointment strip can be used.
Weakened or elderly people, and in addition to those with liver / kidney failure in severe form, it is necessary to select the sizes of doses and the duration of the course of use, given the severity of the disease and the effectiveness of the treatment performed. All indicators are assigned individually.
In the case of prolonged use of the ointment, it is necessary to assess the need for further use of drugs.

Use of the dermadrine during pregnancy
It is forbidden to use the medicine on the 1st trimester. According to epidemiological tests, it was found that pregnant women who used ointment in the first trimester, there was an increase in the incidence of the appearance of wolves in babies.
Animal tests have demonstrated that there is a risk of reproductive toxicity.
It is forbidden to treat with ointment large areas of the skin during pregnancy. Use Dermadrin is required after the appointment of an individual dosage size and only if the likelihood of benefit to the mother exceeds the risk of complications in the fetus. The continued use of H1 antagonists in pregnancy is often prohibited, because controlled tests have not been performed, which is why it is not possible to completely exclude the appearance of retinopathy of prematurity.
During lactation it is necessary to remember that the active component of drugs can penetrate into the mother's milk.
