The medicine is also used in the complex treatment of true erosive lesions of the cervix.
Suppositories can be prescribed to speed up the process of regeneration of the vaginal mucosa damaged as a result of destructive treatment methods (including diathermocoagulation, cryo-, and laser destruction), and also in the postpartum period or after gynecological operations.

Pharmacodynamics
The medicine contains 2 active components – chlorhexidine bigluconate and dexpanthenol.
Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic that has an active effect on a relatively large group of gram-negative and gram-positive microbes, yeast fungi, protozoa, and herpes viruses and dermatophytes. Among the strains sensitive to the substance are: vaginal trichomonas, gardnerella vaginalis, Escherichia coli, pale treponema, ureaplasma, chlamydia, staphylococci, streptococci, and also bacteroides fragilis and gonococcus. Chlorhexidine has no effect or weak effect on strains of Proteus spp. and pseudomonads, and also viruses (except for the herpes virus), spores and acid-resistant microorganisms. The substance retains its properties under the influence of pus, blood, and some secretions.
Dexpanthenol is a prodrug that is metabolized, acquiring the form of calcium pantothenate. This component is a component of coenzyme A, participates in the processes of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, and in addition to acetylation. Along with this, it is a participant in the processes of binding of hormones GCS, acetylcholine, and in addition to porphyrins. The substance stimulates recovery processes, stabilizes cellular metabolism, strengthens collagen fibers and enhances mitosis processes.
Depantol suppositories do not affect the activity of lactobacilli.

Dosing and administration
The medicine must be administered intravaginally. The suppository must be removed from the blister immediately before the procedure. The procedure should be performed lying on your back - the suppository should be inserted deeply. Before use, wash your hands and perform standard hygiene procedures. The dosage, as well as the duration of the therapeutic course, is prescribed by the attending physician.
As a rule, the dosage is 1 suppository 2 times a day.
On average, the treatment course lasts 7-10 days. There is a possibility of extending the treatment to 20 days - this depends on the effectiveness of the therapy, as well as the nature of the pathology.
