Pharmacodynamics

The sandy plantain husk contained in the drug has a mild laxative effect, and at the same time stabilizes the stool during the development of functional diarrhea. This element swells under the influence of liquid, and its specific hydrophilic fibers containing mucus irritate the intestinal endings, due to which weakened intestinal peristalsis is normalized. In addition, the substance helps to soften feces and increase their volume - by retaining liquid in the intestinal lumen.

The drug facilitates the process of defecation and changes the consistency of feces, which helps prevent irritation in the rectum in people with anal fissures or hemorrhoids.

Defenorm synthesizes bile acids, retaining them within the intestinal lumen, due to which the plasma cholesterol level decreases slightly.

Pharmacokinetics

The medicinal activity of the drug is observed after 6-10 hours after taking the capsule orally.

The active ingredient of Defenorm is not absorbed into the circulatory system and is excreted in the feces.

Dosing and administration

The capsules must be taken orally, swallowed whole. The time of taking the medicine is not tied to food intake. During treatment, it is recommended to drink at least 1.5 liters of any liquid per day.

The dosage of the drug can be adjusted by the doctor, taking into account the degree of expression of the drug effect. The drug can be used for long courses.

It is prescribed in the amount of 1-2 capsules, which are taken at intervals of 6-8 hours.
