Calcium thetacin

Calcium thetacin is an antidote substance.

The drug forms soluble, low-toxic combination ligaments with rare-earth and heavy metals, replacing Ca with metal ions, which create more stable compounds with it than calcium, and with it helps to excrete them with urine.

The drug does not interact with strontium, barium and other ions, whose resistance constant is lower than calcium.

Indications Calcium Thetacine

It is used in the active or chronic phase of intoxication (uranium, mercury, lead and cadmium, as well as yttrium, cobalt, cerium and thorium), and beyond that, to eliminate the syndrome of lead-induced colic.

Release form

The release of the medication is in the form of injection fluid, inside 10 ml ampoules. Inside the box are 10 such ampoules.

Pharmacokinetics

With IV injection, the distribution of the drug inside the extracellular fluid occurs evenly.

The term half-life after i / v injection is 20 minutes. Excretion with urine occurs in the form of chelate ligaments, as well as in unchanged condition. After IV injection, lead chelates are excreted in the urine after 60 minutes. The maximum excretion is noted after 24-48 hours.

Dosing and administration

The drug should be administered in portions of 1 g / m ² - through an intravenous drip, 2 times a day. The drug is pre-dissolved in an isotonic liquid NaCl or 5% glucose (0.25-0.5 l).

Daily and single doses for IV injection are equal, respectively, 4000 mg and 2000 mg (20 ml of 10% liquid). The drug is used daily in the period of 3-4 days with a further 3-4-day interval. In the case of 2-time use per day, you must observe a minimum of 3-hour break between procedures. The therapeutic cycle is 1 month.

Use Calcium Thetacine during pregnancy

There is only limited information regarding the use of Calcium Thetacin in pregnancy and HBV. There is no information confirming the effects of drugs in relation to the frequency of development of congenital defects or a negative effect on the fetus.

Pregnant and lactating women prescribed medication only with strict indications.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications:

• nephrosis or nephritis;
• hepatitis in the active or chronic phase, accompanied by a pronounced disorder of the liver activity.

Side effects Calcium Thetacine

There may be an increase in temperature at which fever occurs, weakness and thirst. Sometimes there is vomiting, anemia, anorexia, nausea, lacrimation, myalgias and headaches, and in addition dermatitis and swelling of the nasal mucosa.

At the initial stage of therapy in individual patients, an insignificant exacerbation of lead poisoning occurs, during which pains in the limb area are potentiated, the general condition worsens and appetite is lost. The described symptoms disappear by the end of therapy.

Sometimes hemoglobin values decrease and the number of reticulocytes increases. There may be a short-term decrease in total Fe within plasma and blood, rapidly increasing after the end of the drug. At times, there is a decrease in blood values of cyanocobalamin.

Overdose

The use of large portions of the drug (50-60 g) can provoke the potentiation of negative symptoms, cerebral edema and toxic nephrosis.

Appointed is the use of mannitol (to reduce cerebral edema), the performance of forced diuresis, and the maintenance of the work of organs important for life.

Interactions with other drugs

Introduction Calcium thetacin in combination with iron and Zn-insulin weakens the effect of the latter.
