Every adult contains 1-1.5 kg of calcium in their body, 99% of which is in the skeleton. Calcium exists in free and bound form. If for some reason the reserves of the free substance are depleted, it is washed out of the bones to maintain the proper level in the blood. Due to this, 20% of the bone is renewed annually. The daily requirement for calcium is 0.8-1.2 g. Sources of the mineral are such food products as dairy products, seafood, liver, eggs, vegetables and fruits. A person would have enough calcium in them, provided that it is completely absorbed. However, this is prevented by other substances: fiber, oxalic and phytic acids, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus, lack or excess of fats. As a result, only up to 40% of the substance enters the body from food. Calcium deficiency is replenished with the pharmacy drug calcium-d3 nicomed, which also contains cholecalciferol.

Pharmacodynamics

Pharmacodynamics of the drug - the function of structural tissue for bones and teeth, muscle contractions, coordination of heartbeat. Calcium is also necessary for the transmission of nerve impulses, regulation of blood pressure. Promotes normal blood clotting, enhancing the action of prothrombin. Also performs transport functions for nutrients penetrating through cell membranes. Strengthens the immune system, synthesizes and activates hormones and enzymes necessary for digestion and other metabolic processes. At the same time, it reduces the production of parathyroid hormone - the main regulator of calcium metabolism, which contributes to the leaching of bone tissue.

Pharmacokinetics

The pharmacokinetics of calcium-d3 nicomed is determined by the property of vitamin D3, which is part of it, to perform a transport function, regulate the absorption and distribution of calcium and phosphorus in the body, in other words, to be responsible for metabolic processes. Cholecalciferol is absorbed in the small intestine, and calcium - in its proximal section, while about a third of the drug is absorbed. It is excreted from the body through the urinary system, with feces, and partly with sweat.

Use Calcium-D3 Nicomede during pregnancy

The use of the drug during pregnancy is necessary due to the increased need of a woman for calcium, since additional "building material" is needed to form the skeleton of the future baby. The need for minerals during this period increases to 1.5 g, and for vitamin D3 - 600 IU. Indications for use are calcium deficiency, which manifests itself in the condition of nails and hair: nails break and flake, hair is dull, brittle, split. Teeth deteriorate, caries develops, and calves are cramped with severe cramps. The drug is used in case of a threat of miscarriage, early toxicosis, and increased muscle tone. Calcium deficiency also has a negative effect on the fetus. There is a risk of giving birth to a physically and mentally retarded child, as well as one diagnosed with rickets.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of the drug exist and concern such diseases as phenylketonuria - a hereditary pathology associated with metabolic disorders of individual amino acids, the presence of kidney stones, their inability to cleanse the blood and excrete urine, sarcoidosis. Calcium-D3 Nicomed is not prescribed to children under 5 years of age and the elderly, as well as with an allergy to the components of the drug. Interactions with other drugs

When taking calcium-d3 nicomed, its various interactions with other drugs should be taken into account. It is necessary to avoid its simultaneous use with drugs containing calcium and cholecalciferol. When conducting therapy with antibiotics of the tetracycline group, it is necessary to dilute their intake in time by 3 hours, since their effect is enhanced. Corticosteroids weaken its absorption. In case of cardiological problems, if treatment is carried out with cardiac glycosides, it is necessary to conduct control electrocardiograms. Diuretics can both increase the calcium content in the blood (thiazide) and decrease it (loop). The therapeutic effect of vitamin D3 is reduced with parallel intake of barbiturates and phenytoin, and laxatives also reduce its absorption.
