Some of the most popular medicines in pharmacies today are drugs that lower blood pressure. There are quite a few such drugs: they differ in their mechanism of action, effectiveness and composition.
The main groups of such drugs can be identified:
- diuretics – remove excess fluid from the body (furosemide, veroshpiron, etc.);
- β-adrenolytic substances – reduce peripheral vascular resistance and normalize cardiac activity (anaprilin, timolol, etc.);
- drugs that inhibit ACE – affect the renin-angiotensin system (captopril, ramipril, etc.);
- calcium antagonists – L-type calcium channel blockers (verapamil, felodipine, cinnarizine);
- angiotensin receptor blockers – inhibit the active action of angiotensin (cozaar, diovan, irbesartan, valsartan);
- α-blockers – prevent the passage of impulses that lead to vasoconstriction (doxazoline);
- vasodilators (dimecarbine, apressin, etc.).
Does Andipal increase or decrease blood pressure?
Andipal is a vasodilator antispasmodic. In order to understand whether andipal increases or decreases blood pressure, it is necessary to understand its composition:
- papaverine – has an antispasmodic effect, relaxing smooth muscles;
- analgin – relieves pain, eliminates swelling;
- dibazol – lowers blood pressure, increases performance;
- Phenobarbital – calms, relieves nervous tension.
Thus, first of all, as a result of the direct action of dibazol, andipal can exclusively lower blood pressure. In this case, only the pressure that was caused by vascular spasm or a stressful situation is lowered. Andipal will not help with essential hypertension.
Andipal is not intended to stabilize blood pressure: if you have a headache, but you do not know what your blood pressure is, then it is better not to take this drug. If your blood pressure is low, then Andipal can only make the situation worse.
Does Corvalol increase or decrease blood pressure?
Corvalol is a combination drug consisting of phenobarbital, ethyl ester of α-bromisovaleric acid, and peppermint oil. The main action of Corvalol is aimed at eliminating spasms, dilating blood vessels, stabilizing the nervous system, and facilitating sleep.
Corvalol can be used for high blood pressure caused by vascular spasm, stressful situations or lack of sleep. It is better to take the drug before meals, 30 drops in 50 ml of liquid, up to 3 times a day. In some cases, the dosage can be increased to 40 drops.
For convenience, you can buy Corvalol in tablet form. Usually take 1-2 tablets up to 3 times a day.
Doctors advise avoiding long-term treatment with the drug, taking breaks from time to time, or replacing Corvalol with another drug with a similar effect.
Does valerian increase blood pressure?
Tincture of valerian - is represented by borneol and isovaleric acid ester, as well as valeric acid and alkaloids: valerine, chatinine, etc. The tincture is taken as a sedative for stressful arousal, sleep disorders, and spasms of the digestive system.
Tincture of valerian cannot in any way increase blood pressure, rather the opposite: if the pressure is increased due to a stressful situation, or as a result of insomnia or vascular spasms, valerian can lower the pressure somewhat. However, this remedy does not have a direct hypotensive effect. Most often, it is used in combination with other drugs.
Valerian tincture is taken 25 drops up to 4 times a day after meals. When taking excessive doses, an unmotivated feeling of fatigue, drowsiness and slight dizziness may occur.
Does mumiyo increase blood pressure?
Mumiyo is a natural remedy with a rich macro- and microelement composition, as well as many organic substances: metal oxides, vitamins, amino acids, resinous substances and oils. Not all the useful substances that make up mumiyo have been studied to the end. Therefore, it is impossible to say with certainty whether mumiyo increases blood pressure. Moreover, the complexity of the composition can be very variable: mumiyo can contain different ingredients depending on the location of the deposits, as well as on some local features.
Mumiyo definitely helps in stopping the signs of an inflammatory reaction, removes harmful substances from the body, strengthens the immune system, and promotes tissue restoration. The microelements included in the product have a positive effect on metabolic processes, oxidation and reduction reactions in the body, the reproductive and hematopoietic systems.
If you look closely at the composition of the product, you can assume that mumiyo can rather not increase, but decrease blood pressure. The composition of mumiyo includes chromium - an active element that takes part in protein and lipid metabolism, strengthens bone tissue, promotes the removal of radionuclides, salts of heavy metals and toxic substances from the body, and also lowers blood pressure. However, to feel the effect of the drug, one tablet of mumiyo will be very little: the product must be taken in a course of at least 20 days. Does Euphyllin increase blood pressure?
Euphyllin is an antispasmodic, it expands the vascular lumen (especially in the heart area), lowers blood pressure, improves blood circulation, relieves smooth muscle spasm. Does glycine increase blood pressure?
Glycine is a metabolic drug that regulates metabolic processes within the body. Glycine is one of the important amino acids that plays a major role in protein metabolism, in the transmission of information through nerve cells, in the production of nucleic acids and the restoration of the body after various tissue injuries (caused by vascular integrity disorders, stroke, trauma, and toxic substances).
How can glycine affect blood pressure? The fact is that this drug takes an active part in the functional capacity of the central nervous system. It suppresses the release of adrenaline into the blood, which is usually released under certain circumstances. The purpose of adrenaline is to prepare the body to protect itself from any danger. As a result of the release of adrenaline, blood pressure increases, vascular lumen narrows, and respiratory and cardiac activity is stimulated.

Does Anaprilin increase or decrease blood pressure?
Anaprilin is an adenoblocking drug. It reduces the risk of myocardial oxygen starvation, lowers blood pressure, and reduces the frequency and strength of heart contractions. Along with the above actions, uterine contractions may increase and secretion and peristalsis of the digestive tract may increase.
Anaprilin can be prescribed for paroxysmal tachycardia and other heart rhythm disorders, as well as for angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
The drug is taken orally at 0.025 g up to 4 times a day 20 minutes before meals. The dosage of the drug for injection is carried out individually.

Does Mydocalm increase blood pressure?
Mydocalm is an antiparkinsonian drug. The drug's action is aimed at suppressing muscle spasms caused by the disease of the central nervous system. The drug is able to inhibit the passage of nerve impulses, reduce muscle tone, and suppress the occurrence of convulsive syndrome.
Mydocalm is used for organic lesions of the nervous system, which are accompanied by increased muscle tone, as well as for multiple sclerosis, encephalitis, epilepsy, etc.

No-shpa, or the lesser known Drotaverine, is an antispasmodic drug that has a relaxing effect on the smooth muscles located in the digestive system, as well as in the genitourinary and vascular systems.
The drug is used to relieve spastic conditions such as:
- spasms of the bile ducts and gallbladder;
- spasms in kidney stones, cystitis or pyelitis;
- pylorospasm;
- spastic colitis or spastic constipation;
- colic or persistent hiccups.
As an additional remedy, No-shpa can be used for headaches associated with high blood pressure.
Thus, No-shpa, due to its antispasmodic effect, can reduce high blood pressure if it is caused by vascular spasm. Accordingly, low blood pressure may be a contraindication to taking the drug, since after taking No-shpa the patient's condition may worsen. For the same reason, an overdose of No-shpa should be avoided, so as not to provoke a critical decrease in pressure.
The standard dose of the drug is 1-2 tablets up to 3 times a day after meals, or up to 4 ml of a 2% solution by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

Does Concor lower or raise blood pressure?
Concor is a β¹-adrenoblocker, the active component is bisoprolol. The drug is aimed at lowering blood pressure, eliminating heart rhythm disturbances, and easing the work of the heart. Concor's ability to lower blood pressure is explained by a decrease in the minute blood volume, as well as sympathetic activation of distal vessels, slowing down the renin-angiotensin system, restored sensitivity function when blood pressure decreases, and an effect on the central nervous system.
The use of Concor provides a positive effect on hypertension after 2-5 days, and a stable result can be expected after 1-2 months of therapy with the drug.
The Concor tablet is taken without chewing or crushing, in the morning, simultaneously with breakfast, before it or immediately after. It is recommended to select the dosage individually: the treatment regimen may depend on the heart rate and the general condition of the patient. As a rule, the initial dosage is prescribed in the amount of 1 tablet once a day. If the doctor deems it necessary, the amount of the drug can be increased to 2 tablets per day. The maximum daily dose of Concor is 4 tablets once a day.

Does enalapril increase or decrease blood pressure?
Enalapril lowers blood pressure and prevents its further increase. It is an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor that helps reduce the overall peripheral resistance of blood vessels, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and reduces the load on the heart muscle. The drug also acts to dilate blood vessels, but this applies more to the arterial lumen than to the venous lumen.
Enapril gently lowers blood pressure without inhibiting cerebral circulation, while increasing blood flow in the heart and kidneys. Long-term treatment with the drug improves blood circulation in areas of ischemia in the heart muscle, helps prevent the development of heart failure. Enapril has a slight diuretic effect.
When taken internally, Enapril can lower blood pressure within 60 minutes, with the maximum effect of the drug appearing after 5 hours and lasting for about 24 hours. In severe cases, normal blood pressure can be achieved only after several weeks of treatment.
Enapril is taken at any time of the day in the amount of 5 mg (once a day). If the patient's condition is severe, after 7-14 days the doctor may increase the dosage by another 5 mg. The further treatment regimen is based on the patient's condition. In any case, the maximum daily dosage of the drug should not exceed 40 mg per day, otherwise a sharp drop in blood pressure with the development of collapse and acute cerebrovascular accident may be observed. Does Papazol lower or raise blood pressure?
Papazol is an antispasmodic agent that lowers blood pressure. The drug is combined: it consists of two active ingredients, such as dibazol and papaverine. Both components have the ability to lower blood pressure.
Papazol is often prescribed for arterial hypertension caused by spasm of peripheral vessels and the vascular system in the brain, and for spastic conditions of smooth muscles (in particular, the digestive system), poliomyelitis and facial nerve paralysis.
The drug is taken orally, up to 2 tablets 2 to 3 times a day. The decrease in pressure will be more pronounced if Papazol is taken together with other antispasmodics, diuretics or sedatives.
The drug is contraindicated in epilepsy, as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Does Enap lower or raise blood pressure?
Enap is a combination drug for lowering blood pressure. The components of the drug:
- enalapril – eliminates spasms and expands the lumen of peripheral arterial vessels, reduces total peripheral resistance, relieves excess stress on the heart muscle, and reduces blood pressure;
- Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps lower blood pressure primarily by reducing the volume of circulating blood.
Enap is taken daily at the same time (preferably in the morning), not on an empty stomach, without chewing or crushing the tablet. The standard dosage is 1 tablet per day. If you take an unreasonably large amount of the drug, this can provoke a significant drop in blood pressure. For this reason, you should not increase the dose of the drug on your own without your doctor's permission.

Does nitroglycerin increase or decrease blood pressure?
Nitroglycerin is the most popular antianginal drug. Its effect is to relax smooth muscles (especially coronary vessels), improve blood supply to the heart, temporarily lower blood pressure, increase heart rate and deepen breathing.
Nitroglycerin is used to relieve an attack of angina pectoris, asthmatic conditions, and symptoms of intestinal and hepatic colic.
Nitroglycerin does not increase, but decreases blood pressure. For this reason, treatment with the drug should be carried out under constant monitoring of blood pressure indicators. After the first use of the drug, as well as with an increase or overestimation of the dosage, a sharp drop in blood pressure may be observed, up to orthostatic hypotension, which is accompanied by symptoms such as tachycardia, dizziness and general weakness of the body. Rarely, a sharp drop in blood pressure may be accompanied by an aggravation of the signs of angina.
The maximum dose of the drug at one time is one and a half tablets or 4 drops (under the tongue). The maximum daily dose of Nitroglycerin is 6 tablets (or 16 drops).
Does captopril increase or decrease blood pressure?
Captopril is a drug that reduces peripheral vascular resistance and lowers blood pressure. Captopril is prescribed to lower blood pressure and as an additional treatment for chronic insufficiency of cardiac activity.
For symptoms of arterial hypertension, Captopril is initially prescribed in the amount of 12.5 mg twice a day. If the pressure has not stabilized over 7-15 days of therapy, the dosage is increased.

The drug is used for increased irritability, anxious and restless states, phobias, mental overload, stress, sleep disorders.
Novopassit has the property of relaxing smooth muscles, but there is no reliable information about how the drug affects blood pressure.
Novopassit is taken 1 teaspoon three times a day. It is allowed to add the medicine to drinks or take it after meals.

Does papaverine lower or raise blood pressure?
Papaverine is a well-known antispasmodic, one of the components of the drug Papazol. Papaverine reduces smooth muscle tone, dilates blood vessels and relieves spasms. The sedative effect of the drug is expressed only when taking a large amount of the drug.
Papaverine is used for various spastic conditions: spasms of the digestive tract, vascular system of the brain, urinary system. It can be used as an additional agent in preparation for surgical interventions.
Papaverine reduces blood pressure caused by vascular spasm, so it can be used in some forms of hypertension. Papaverine is prescribed orally after meals at 0.02-0.05 g up to 4 times a day, in the form of subcutaneous injections - 1-2 ml of a 2% solution. Does iodine increase blood pressure?
Iodine is a medicine that is usually prescribed to eliminate iodine deficiency in the body. This usually occurs with thyroid disease, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and when living in ecologically unfavorable areas.
Iodine should never be taken internally without proper reasons. Remember - too much iodine is no less dangerous than too little.
