Thrombophlebitis is a disease caused by inflammation of the vein walls. It is characterized by subsequent thrombus formation. The inflammatory process is very dangerous, and is accompanied by large and serious consequences. These include: heart failure, pulmonary infarction, etc. Prevention of thrombophlebitis will help prevent the disease.

In case of leg pain, swelling, redness, inflammation of veins, measures should be taken in advance to prevent the development of vascular diseases. If the disease has already been observed before, efforts should be made to avoid recurrence of thrombophlebitis.

Prevention of thrombus formation is carried out both by medication and by folk remedies. The very first thing you need to do is quit smoking, lose weight and level, change your passive lifestyle. The cause of thrombus formation can be infections, poor blood clotting and congenital abnormalities. If you follow all the rules and visit your doctor regularly, you can avoid thrombus formation.

Prevention of thrombophlebitis of the lower extremities

The development of thrombophlebitis is observed in deep as well as superficial veins of the lower extremities. Thus, the prevention of thrombophlebitis of the lower extremities is aimed at preventing the risk of developing vascular diseases.

To get rid of congestion and improve blood circulation, the doctor recommends cycling, walking more, and also walking barefoot more. The heel of the shoe should be no more than 3-4 cm high. It is advisable to use soft orthopedic insoles.

When resting, it is recommended to raise your legs 10-15 cm from the floor to increase blood flow. You should try to monitor your weight and not lift heavy objects, which can put pressure on your veins. Blood flows from top to bottom, which creates additional pressure on your veins. You should wear medical hosiery for a while, but its size should be determined by a doctor. Correctly applied medical and prophylactic bandages create uniform pressure on the muscles, thereby increasing blood flow and helping to prevent the development of a thrombus.

On vacation, you need to watch out for overheating, solar heat affects the human venous system. Dehydration of a person also has a detrimental effect on the venous system, so you need to drink the norm (at least 2 liters) of liquid per day.

Prevention of thrombophlebitis in postoperative patients

Thrombophlebitis in postoperative patients occurs due to prolonged bed rest. Prevention of venous congestion in the postoperative period is possible with the use of medications and physical (mechanical) means. As a preventive measure against thrombophlebitis in postoperative patients, elastic knee-highs and stockings should be worn. They provide pressure at the ankle level with a gradual decrease. With the help of a special compressor and cuff, passive contraction of the muscles on the leg can be achieved.

General measures that can also play a preventive role include: ensuring good hydration, using the most gentle surgical technique, and treating respiratory and circulatory failure.

The effectiveness of prevention varies, so in clinical settings there should be a focus on effectiveness and safety. Prevention methods should be selected taking into account the degree of risk of postoperative complications.

Low-risk patients should reduce the duration of bed rest after surgery, which is one of the effective ways to prevent venous congestion.

Prevention of exacerbations of thrombophlebitis

Many patients, during the manifestation of exacerbations of the disease, associate this process with the cessation of preventive measures. During treatment, the main goal is to prevent the detachment of the thrombus, subsequent movement and closure of the lumen of the pulmonary artery. Thus, the prevention of exacerbations of thrombophlebitis begins with timely treatment. In its absence, acute purulent processes, varicose veins, and trophic ulcers may occur.

Since the acute form of thrombophlebitis is characterized by rapid and sudden development. Patients with varicose veins resort to surgical intervention. Anticoagulants are also prescribed for people with a sedentary lifestyle to reduce prothrombin levels. The use of the drug espumisan prevents neoplasm and exacerbation of thrombophlebitis. The course of prevention is carried out for 1-2 months.

Patients with an acute form should adhere to a diet and an active lifestyle. Careful and gentle treatment of tissues is required during prevention, as well as strict adherence to antiseptic measures and dressings. It is necessary to stand up straight, resort to therapeutic gymnastics, as well as massage. All these actions together prevent the process of thrombus formation. Observance of limb hygiene (hands and feet should be dry and clean, exclude rubber shoes from the wardrobe) is one of the essential measures for the prevention of acute thrombophlebitis.

Prevention of thrombophlebitis with folk remedies

Traditional medicine has proven itself since ancient times. It has a lot of useful and effective recipes in its arsenal. You can start preventing thrombophlebitis with folk remedies without the doctor's knowledge, but it is desirable that the specialist is dedicated to this.

Cabbage leaves treated with egg yolk should be applied to sore spots. Mix chestnut and lilac flowers in a one-to-one ratio in a jar and pour in alcohol. Let it brew in a dark place and the tincture will be ready in 21 days. Rub your feet and hands with the resulting solution at night.

At night, treat cotton wool and gauze with baking soda and soak in warm water, put on the sore spot and wrap with cling film. Tie a woolen scarf on top. For two weeks, make compresses every half hour, before going to bed, from urine and keep the sore spot warm.

Therapeutic exercises can be performed by anyone, even those who are prohibited from running and intensive walking. It is necessary to stand on the toes and drop sharply so that the heels hit the floor. Such concussions should be performed once every 2-3 seconds no more than 60 times per approach. 3-5 approaches of such exercises are done per day.

The following herbal collection is used in the treatment and prevention of thrombophlebitis: three-part succession, grass, St. John's wort, coriander, chamomile, marsh cudweed, sweet clover, and toadflax. All herbs are dried and crushed, then poured with boiling water and infused for 1-2 hours, then filtered and drunk half a glass twice a day after meals.

Prevention of deep vein thrombophlebitis

Deep vein thrombophlebitis often occurs in parts of the body with low or impaired blood circulation. Prolonged bed rest or surgery can contribute to the development of thrombosis. In such cases, you can resort to preventing deep vein thrombophlebitis: taking blood thinning medications before or after surgery, using elastic bandages, compression devices (knee socks, socks) that regulate venous bleeding, performing a set of exercises to improve muscle tone and blood circulation.

One of the reasons for the appearance of a thrombus in deep veins is a sudden change in the level of mobility. To avoid the development of thrombosis, athletes and people with sedentary work are advised to drink enough fluids, rest and do warm-ups.

If you are prone to thrombosis, you should avoid: sudden increases in temperature; taking a hot bath, sauna, bathhouse; prolonged exposure to the sun. You should exclude tight jeans, tight belts and corsets, clothes with tight elastic bands from your wardrobe. During sleep or rest, the position of your legs should be elevated, this improves blood flow and reduces the risk of developing a thrombus.
