Thrush is a rather unpleasant disease of the genitourinary system that affects both men and women. It is caused by yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, which develop when the protective membranes of the urogenital tract have lost the ability to resist pathogenic microorganisms. This is often observed against the background of reduced immunity, after taking antibiotics. Itching with thrush is one of the main symptoms of the disease, which causes significant discomfort to a person.
How to relieve itching from thrush during pregnancy?
During pregnancy, no systemic medications should be used. Therefore, in the case of a severe disease and constant progression of the disease, it is recommended to resort to local drugs. Suppositories are quite effective in dealing with thrush.
You can also try creams and ointments that have a local effect, directly on the mucous membrane of the urogenital tract. This eliminates the possibility of their penetration into the blood, respectively, the drugs do not affect the fetus. The likelihood of side effects is also significantly reduced. Itching can be relieved by folk methods, homeopathy, herbs. Most often, decoctions, infusions used for washing, douching.
What should I wash with if I have thrush and itching?
You can use special products necessary for intimate hygiene. For this, it is better to select special antiseptic, antifungal agents. Many people prefer to use decoctions of anti-inflammatory herbs for washing, which quickly relieve the inflammatory process, prevent the development of infection, relieve itching and other unpleasant sensations.
Medicines
Medicines should be taken with caution and only after prior consultation with a doctor. This is the main precaution that will help avoid numerous negative consequences.
The only approved drug used during pregnancy is Pimafucin. It is often prescribed in the form of suppositories. This allows you to quickly eliminate symptoms. Many women find that even one suppository is enough to relieve symptoms, but it is necessary to undergo a full course of treatment (usually 3 days). One suppository is inserted at night, in a supine position. By morning, foam is formed, which covers the external genitalia, relieving inflammation and itching. Some may need 2 courses.
The drug does not penetrate into the blood, but has a local effect. Therefore, it is safe for both the mother and the fetus. Pimafucin in tablets is taken if the fungus is spreading and has already begun to colonize other biotopes, for example, the oral cavity, intestines. It is often prescribed if, despite the use of suppositories, the symptoms are not eliminated, but continue to progress. Tablets are also prescribed for severe cases of the disease, strong expression of symptoms.
In the absence of pregnancy, the drug can also be taken. Its effectiveness has been proven by years of clinical practice and a number of scientific and experimental developments.
Natamycin can also be used to eliminate itching during thrush. This is a drug that is the main active ingredient of pimafucin. It can be taken in tablet form, one tablet 3-4 times a day. You need to take the full course, otherwise its effectiveness decreases, and relapses of the infection may develop. As part of pimafucin, this drug is more effective, since it additionally contains impurities that contribute to additional activation of the drug, enhancing its effect.
Terzhinan is also often prescribed to eliminate itching. The treatment is long-term, up to 20 days. It is available in the form of tablets that are administered intravaginally. Before administration, they must be moistened in water. The drug is contraindicated for pregnant women, since it has a teratogenic effect on the fetus.
Livarol is taken one tablet three times a day, or in the form of suppositories. The disadvantage of this drug is that it can cause irritation. In case of individual intolerance, which is observed quite often, itching may increase, redness, rashes on the mucous membranes or skin may appear. In this case, it is necessary to reduce the dosage, or completely stop taking the drug. Side effects also include headache, burning, dizziness, drowsiness.

Clotrimazole-based cream
Clotrimazole is quite effective in treating the symptoms of thrush. It can be applied to the skin and mucous membranes. In this case, it is necessary to use a thin layer of the drug. The cream enhances the effect of other substances and is often used as an additional remedy, while taking tablets, less often - suppositories. The drug should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, since it can cause an allergic reaction and overdose, as well as other side effects. It is especially harmful in the first trimester. In case of overdose, urgent withdrawal of the drug or cessation of its effect and additional treatment are required.
Candles for itching during thrush
Suppositories are quite effective against itching. They are the ones that doctors mainly prescribe, since they act locally, which allows achieving the desired effect in a short time. The active substance does not penetrate into the blood, therefore it does not have a toxic effect on the body. This allows avoiding numerous side effects, significantly reduces the need for dosage, and the duration of treatment.
For thrush, doctors first try to prescribe pimafucin to know for sure that the side effects will be minimal or completely absent. The advantage of this treatment is that it acts gently and quickly, visible results are noticeable after the first use. Suppositories act for quite a long time, so they are administered once a day - at night. The course of treatment ranges from 3 to 7 days.
Fluconazole suppositories are also often prescribed. This is a fairly strong drug that allows you to quickly get rid of itching and cure thrush. This is a strong antifungal agent that acts against Candida fungi, which are the main causative agents of the disease. The course is designed for the introduction of one suppository. Usually this is enough to eliminate all the symptoms of thrush and get rid of the pathological focus.
Folk remedies
Thrush can be cured with folk remedies. They are also used to prevent relapses.
Washing or taking sitz baths works well. A decoction with a softening effect has proven itself well for this. Take a basin, coat its walls with a moderate amount of Vaseline or badger fat (when evaporating, the fatty components will soften the mucous membranes).
Sprinkle a thin layer of dry chamomile flowers on top, add a small bunch of blooming lavender. Cover with a towel, which will allow the main healing substances and plant extracts to come out and be absorbed into the glycerin. Boil water separately. Let the flowers stay under the towel for 5-7 minutes, then you can pour boiling water over them. Sit over the steam, wrap your legs and all available holes in a towel or blanket. After the steam stops emitting, you need to add boiling water or completely replace the water in the basin. After the procedure, you need to go to bed as quickly as possible and cover yourself warmly. Therefore, the procedure should be done at night.
A cream for lubricating the perineum is also recommended. To prepare it, you need 50 grams of cocoa butter and the same amount of propolis. Melt both products over low heat while stirring constantly, then add a tablespoon of coconut oil, almond oil and glycerin. Mix everything thoroughly and allow it to cool. After this, use the product to lubricate the perineum after thoroughly washing the external genitalia.
Along with local remedies, you can try using a systemic mixture, which will have a positive effect on the entire body, strengthening the immune system and activating the body's defenses.
To prepare the mixture, it is recommended to take 100 grams of dried apricots, prunes, figs, and raisins. Pass all this through a meat grinder and mix. After that, add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon, half a teaspoon of ginger and nutmeg. Season with honey until smooth, mix thoroughly.
Treatment of itching due to thrush with herbs
Collision vapor eliminates itching well. To prepare, take one large leaf of the plant, approximately 20-30 cm long. Grind the resulting product and pour 650-700 ml of boiling water over the raw material. The plant-water mixture should be in the oven overnight.
One part should be represented by plant material, and it accounts for 10 parts of water. One dose accounts for a tablespoon of the medicine. It is taken three times a day, the duration of the course is determined by the doctor.
Stevia works well. It can be used for douching, washing, and also taken internally. Stevia is a powerful immunostimulant that will improve immunity and eliminate inflammation. It stimulates the mucous membranes, increasing their efficiency and resistance to foreign microorganisms, as a result of which the inflammatory process goes away, and accordingly, the itching will decrease. Usually, about a tablespoon of the plant is used per glass of boiling water. If taken internally, you need to drink a glass a day. Before this, the product must be filtered.
Lavender can also be used. For washing, use a small bunch of blooming lavender, tied with a thread in the center. The bunch is poured with about 500 ml of boiling water, boiled for 15 minutes. After that, dilute the resulting decoction with warm boiled water, place the boiled bunch of lavender in a basin and wash without using any medicines or cosmetics. You need to wash for about 15 minutes.
Homeopathy
It is important to understand that the use of homeopathic remedies is not always possible, so it is advisable to initially consult with a leading specialist. Since its effect can be different, and not always favorable.
As an effective remedy for eliminating itching, use a decoction of rose hips with rose petals. First, take rose hips, knead them a little, which will break through the dense shell and provide an improved release of nutrients and vitamins into the decoction. Pour cold water, bring to a boil, boil for about 5-7 minutes, then add rose petals, and immediately remove the pan from the heat. Cover tightly with a lid, wrap in heat, or pour into a thermos, and leave for another 20 minutes. Can be used for internal use, since this is an excellent anti-inflammatory and vitamin remedy that stimulates the immune system. It is also used for douching and rinsing (after preliminary straining).
To restore the mucous membrane, as well as eliminate burning, itching, and painful sensations, use a decoction of May peony and oak bark. These products can also be used for poultices (applications to the itching area). To do this, soak gauze in the prepared decoction, place it on the itching area, and put on disposable panties on top. It is recommended to lie down for 15-30 minutes, after which you can remove the poultice and lubricate this area with baby cream.
To soften the affected area and reduce discomfort, it is recommended to use creams of various compositions. Baby cream can be used as a base. Squeeze out a small amount of cream, add 2-3 milliliters of glycerin (softens the skin and mucous membranes), add 3 drops of fir and eucalyptus essential oils (have anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects).
A tonic that improves overall well-being is recommended for internal use. It stimulates the immune system and strengthens the body. To prepare, you will need one lemon, 2 bananas, and a fig. Put all of this through a meat grinder and mix with honey. Remove excess liquid. The remaining liquid can be used to wash down the medicine. It is recommended to take 2-3 tablespoons per day.
