Injuries and poisonings

Sternum fracture: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Fractures of the sternum are rare. Fractures of the sternum occur mainly with a direct mechanism of injury. Displacements of fragments are often insignificant, but can be as thick as the bone.

Rib fracture: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Rib fractures can occur with both direct and indirect mechanisms of injury. An example of the latter is compression of the chest in the anteroposterior direction, leading to a rib fracture in the lateral sections.

False joint: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

A false joint is a diagnosis that excludes hopes for a cure using conservative methods. Their use in pseudoarthrosis is not justified and only prolongs the already protracted treatment period.

Posterior cruciate ligament injuries: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Damage to the posterior cruciate ligament is one of the most serious injuries to the capsular-ligamentous apparatus of the knee joint. They are much less common than ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament, accounting for 3-20% of all knee joint injuries.

Meniscus injuries: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Menisci are fibrocartilaginous structures of a crescent shape. In section they have the shape of a triangle. The thick edge of the menisci faces outward and is fused with the joint capsule, and the thin edge faces inward. The upper surface of the menisci is concave, and the lower surface is almost flat.

Fracture of the scapula: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Scapula fractures account for 0.3-1.5% of all skeletal bone injuries. The fracture line can pass through various anatomical formations of the scapula. In this regard, fractures of the body, spine of the scapula and its angles are distinguished.

Foot sprains: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Ankle dislocations are usually combined with fractures of the malleoli or the anterior and posterior edges of the tibia. Isolated dislocations of segments of the foot or individual bones are relatively rare.

Tibial dislocation: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Dislocations of the tibia account for 1-1.5% of all dislocations. Depending on the dislocation of the tibia as a result of injury, posterior, anterior, external, and internal dislocations are distinguished. Posterior dislocations of the tibia are more common.

Hip dislocation: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Traumatic hip dislocations account for 3 to 7% of all dislocations. The most common is iliac hip dislocation (85%), followed by sciatic, obturator, and suprapubic hip dislocation.

Sprained finger of the hand: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Dislocations in the metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints are rare. The exception is the metacarpophalangeal joint of the first finger. Therefore, we will further discuss the dislocation of the first finger of the hand.
