Diseases of children (pediatrics)

Bites of spiders and insects

In the place of the bite of the scorpion there is a sharp, unbearable pain, lasting several hours, and the bubbles filled with liquid, followed by the formation of a dark pink point. Fast signs of intoxication: fever, weakness, dizziness; then convulsions, difficulty breathing and swallowing, increased blood pressure, in severe cases - shock and stopping breathing.

Bites of poisonous snakes: emergency medical care

According to WHO, poisoning with snake venom is recorded annually in 500 000 people, among them 6-8% of cases - with a fatal outcome. The most severe poisoning occurs when a snake bites the head and neck, or when a poison enters the blood directly. With the bite of aspidids and sea snakes, pain is often absent, but within 20-30 minutes the condition deteriorates sharply, weakness, numbness in the face and trunk region, and collapse due to histamine release develop.

Bites of marine animals and fish

There are poisonous and non-poisonous bites of marine animals and fish. Non-poisonous, but extensive damage can be caused by sharks, morays, acne, barracuda, etc. In these cases, emergency treatment is provided according to the standard treatment of wounds: stopping bleeding, replenishing the volume of circulating blood, anesthesia.

Poisoning a child with carbon monoxide (carbon monoxide) \

Carbon monoxide (CO) has a much more pronounced affinity for hemoglobin than oxygen, and creates with a hemoglobin a strong compound - carboxyhemoglobin, which prevents the normal transfer of oxygen to the tissues. The toxic effect of CO is not limited to the development of tissue hypoxia and a shift in the dissociation curve of oxyhemoglobin.

Acute inhalation

Leading importance in changing the condition of victims in a fire is directly damaged by hot air and combustion products of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, as well as inhalation poisoning with toxic substances, including carbon monoxide (CO) carbon monoxide.

Prolonged pressure syndrome

The syndrome of prolonged compression develops with prolonged (for several hours) pressing down any part of the body. After releasing the limb, endotoxic shock can develop. The liberated limb is enlarged in volume due to edema, cyanotic, bubbles with hemorrhagic fluid are formed.

Electric shock to children

The high voltage electric shock causes severe thermal damage, including charring (surface burns, wounds at the entrance and exit points of the current, burned arcs). When a low-voltage current is applied, the development of cardiac arrhythmias, primary and secondary respiratory arrest, consciousness disturbances, paresthesia and paralysis are at the forefront.

Frostbites in children

Frostbite - damage to tissues when exposed to low temperatures. Local damage can occur at a temperature both above and below the freezing point of water. At the heart of the pathogenesis of frostbite are neurovascular reactions, leading to a disruption of tissue metabolism, tissue anoxia, increased blood viscosity, increased thrombosis and cessation of circulation.

Drowning: emergency care for drowning

Drowning - death from hypoxia due to lack of oxygen or laryngospasm after immersion in water or other liquid.

Epileptic status in children

Epileptic status - periodic convulsive activity lasting more than 30 minutes, in the intervals of which consciousness can not be restored.
