Clavicula (clavicula) is a long S-shaped tubular bone located between the clavic notch of the sternum medially and the acromial process of the scapula laterally. In the clavicle distinguish the body (corpus claviculae) and the two ends: the sternal end (extremitas sternalis) and the acromial end (extremitas acromiahs). The medial sternal end of the clavicle is curved and considerably thickened. At this end, there is a saddle sternal articular surface (facies articularis sternalis) for articulation with the sternum. The acromial end of the clavicle is wider and thinner than the medial, curved posteriorly. The acromial end of the clavicle has an articular surface for articulation with the corresponding articular surface of the acromion of the scapula. On the lower surface of the clavicle are two elevations: a conical tubercle (tuberculum conoideum) and a trapezoidal line (linea trapezoidea). Ligaments are attached to these tubercles.
