Thyroid gland

The thyroid gland (glandula thyroidea) is an unpaired organ located in the anterior region of the neck at the level of the larynx and upper trachea. The gland consists of two lobes - the right (lobus dexter) and left (lobus sinister), connected by a narrow isthmus. The thyroid gland lies quite superficially.

pituitary gland

The pituitary gland (hypophysis, s.glandula pituitaria) is located in the hypophyseal fossa of the sella turcica of the sphenoid bone and is separated from the cranial cavity by a process of the dura mater of the brain, forming the diaphragm of the sella.

Endocrine glands

Management of processes occurring in the body is provided not only by the nervous system, but also by endocrine glands (organs of internal secretion). The latter include glands of various origins that have specialized in the process of evolution, are topographically isolated, do not have excretory ducts and secrete the secretion they produce directly into the tissue fluid and blood.
