Often, by touching their diet with reddening of the skin and swelling of the mucous membranes, people ask themselves the question: "And is there an allergy to carrots?". No matter how absurd the answer may sound, but - yes, it happens, and, besides, this kind of allergy is not at all easier than the rest. All because the product has a high degree of allergenic activity. After that you begin to understand that you should not take the everyday vegetable as something harmless.
Causes of allergy to carrots
It should be noted that the allergy to carrots does not apply to food. Usually it suffers people who suffer from pollen allergies (birch, ragweed, dandelions, etc.) This is due to the fact that carrots contain proteins that are very similar to those found in pollen. The irritated organism simply is not able to distinguish allergens and reacts to everything. And this testifies to the weakened immunity.
In addition, the use of carrots in raw form strongly affects people with a diseased liver and can provoke a disease such as hepatosis (fatty degeneration of the liver).
Causes of allergy to carrots may also be an individual intolerance to the vegetable or heredity.
Do not get carried away by the product to people with diabetes or those who have increased blood sugar - such delicacies will not do you good, and in addition to the unimportant general condition, you risk getting an allergy to carrots.

Symptoms of carrots allergy
In general, the allergy occurs after eating raw carrots, but there are times when a person becomes ill after a vegetable that has undergone a thermal treatment.
The main symptoms of carrot allergy:
- Abdominal pain.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Conjunctivitis.
- Swelling of the mucous membranes, lips and tongue.
- Nasal obstruction, allergic rhinitis.
- Coughing and sneezing.
- Burning sensation in the mouth.
- Itching and eczema.
- Carotenic jaundice.
Do not assume that an allergy to carrots - the disease is not serious. It can turn into anaphylactic shock, which leads to coma and even death. In anaphylactic shock, a person experiences:
- Labored breathing.
- Dizziness, confusion.
- Anxiety.
- Low blood pressure.
Symptoms of allergies appear immediately after eating carrots or contacting this vegetable (passing him on the market or on the street).
Carrot allergy in a child
The child's organism, regardless of whether it is a baby or a baby older than one year old, is very susceptible to allergen products. That's why doctors advise giving children with extreme caution (or not giving at all) some food. Ironically, in this list, carrots are almost in the first place.
Special attention is recommended by specialists to draw on carrot juice, favorite by moms, which is not only rich in vitamins, but also fraught with unnecessary troubles for your child.
Symptoms of an allergy in a child differ little from those of an adult. This is the same redness of the skin and rash, swelling of the mucous membranes and abdominal pain, which provoke a baby crying and capriciousness, refusal to eat.
In addition, as in babies, and in adults, against the background of excessive consumption of carrots and carrot juice, karitic jaundice develops. The disease is accompanied by a yellow-orange pigmentation of the skin (most often - palms and heels) and mucous membranes. This jaundice is also called "false", because it does not pose any danger to the health of the baby and adult. Nevertheless, it is worth considering that pigmentation is the first bell of the fact that carrot consumption should be reduced.
Mothers, who are obsessed with feeding their children with vitamins "from the garden" (in this case - vitamin A, which is useful for the eyes), it is worth remembering that even their fanaticism can lead to an allergy to carrots in the child.

Treatment of allergies to carrots
The most important stage of carrots allergy treatment is timely access to a doctor. Only a qualified specialist will be able to conduct a full diagnosis, to identify the causes of the disease, and also to appoint competent treatment.
In addition, it must be remembered that allergic people who do not tolerate carrots should avoid contact with pollen and the vegetable itself. After all, your condition can get worse, even if you just go through the market or the store where the carrots lie.
Unfortunately, if the doctor has discovered that you are hypersensitive to the orange deposit of vitamins, you will not be able to avoid unpleasant allergy symptoms. Therefore, to facilitate and improve their general condition, the following medicines are prescribed:
- Cromogexal - a spray for allergic rhinitis (children and adults - one injection into each nostril 4 times a day).
- Kromogeksal, like eye drops (for children and adults - one drop four times a day).
- Singular - with seasonal rhinitis and bronchial asthma on the basis of allergy (adults and children from 15 years - 1 tablet 10 mg in the evening, children 2-5 years - 1 tablet 4 mg once a day, children 6-14 years - 1 tablet 5 mg once a day).
- Telfast (adults and children from 12 years - 1 tablet 120-180 mg once a day, children from 6 to 11 - two tablets 30 mg per day).
- Suprastin (adults - 1 tablet 0,025 2-3 times a day during meals or intravenously and intramuscularly - 1-2 ml of a solution of 2%, children - half or quarter of a tablet of 0.025 depending on the age).
In addition to drug treatment, there are alternative drugs that are not a panacea, but can help in the fight against carrot allergy:
- With allergies, strawberry leaves (3 parts), wormwood (2 parts), dandelion root and burdock, nettle (4 parts) are effective. Grasses to grind, 1 tablespoon of a mixture to fill in with one glass of boiled water and to insist on night. A filtered glass of broth is taken in three divided doses per day.
- If you suffer from severe rashes, take note of this recipe: 1 tablespoon of a flower of deaf nettle pour a glass of boiling water, insist 20 minutes, drain; Take 1 cup of warm broth 3 times daily before meals.
If there is no allergy to beekeeping products, then honey combs can be treated - chew them 2-3 times a day for 10-15 minutes.
Preventing allergies to carrots
Perhaps the most sensible decision that an allergic person can take is the complete exclusion of carrots from the diet. In addition, do not take risks and it is desirable to limit yourself even from contact with the vegetable when cooking.
Always monitor what you eat outside the house (cafe, restaurant or away), do not let carrots get into your plate, even in processed (cooked or fried) form!
Also remember that the carrot juice and all the drinks to which it is added are now taboo for you!
However sad it may sound, but about carrots - a storehouse of vitamins - those who have found themselves hypersensitive to the product will have to forget forever. Take care of your health, stick to simple rules, and then you will never be allergic to carrots!
