Symptoms of the jaw sarcoma

Traditionally, it was thought that osteogenic sarcoma occurs most often among the bony sarcomas of the jaws. However, recently, after isolating a malignant fibrous histiocytoma from the group of fibroplastic tumors, this opinion was somewhat shaken.

This tumor can affect both bone structures and soft tissues. When the soft tissues are affected, this tumor is red, of a dense consistency, characterized by exophytic growth, although in the subcutaneous tissue it can have the appearance of an infiltrate. When the bones are affected, their destruction is noted, the volume of which depends on the prevalence of the process.

Differential diagnosis is performed with other malignant tumors of this area, including sarcomas of bones.

What do need to examine?

Treatment of jaw sarcomas

The tumor is insensitive to radiation and drug therapy. Treatment is mainly surgical. The scope of the operation depends on the prevalence of the process.

Prognosis for jaw sarcomas

Sarcoma of the jaws has an unfavorable prognosis. The tumor often recurs, gives regional distant metastases.
