Even in childhood, girls are constantly told that it is impossible to sit on a cold one, it is not advisable to catch a cold foot. And after all, the point is not that a throat can ache, but, not only the throat, a body that is much lower — the bladder — can “catch a cold”. It would seem that unexpected parallels, however, the pain at the end of urination can be felt within a few hours after the "gathering in the cold."
What causes pain at the end of urination?
The opinion that the inflammation of the bladder occurs only as a result of a cold has become a habit. Few people know that eating too acidic foods in large quantities, enthusiasm for energy and other, far from useful, carbonated drinks, leads to irritation of the mucous membrane of the urethra, resulting in pain at the end of urination.
However, the most common enemies of the bladder still remain:
- colds;
- infections;
- neoplasms in the organs of the urogenital system (tumor);
- inflammatory processes of the pelvic organs;
- errors in personal hygiene (dirt).
Symptoms of pain at the end of urination
Inflammation of the bladder is very easily recognized by two obvious signs - frequent urge to urinate, which occurs in small doses and strong painful sensations, like burning. Pain at the end of urination changes character and becomes pulling. After urination, the sensation of pain does not completely disappear, it remains as a feeling of discomfort in the genital area.
In severe forms of the inflammatory process, painful and frequent urge to urinate are joined:
- increased body temperature;
- pain throughout the urethra (pain at the beginning and at the end of urination), indicating the accession of urethritis;
- the presence of turbid impurities or mucus in the urine (an indicator of associated urinary tract infection).

Difference in pain at the end of urination in men and women
Every time when it comes to diseases of the pelvic organs in general, and the bladder in particular, in the first place, they talk about a female susceptibility to these diseases. All because of the anatomical structure. Of course, men also suffer from cystitis, only they, unlike women, “sit on a cold pebble” will have much longer to “earn” pain at the end of urination. If we consider the structure of the urethra, then in women its length is approximately up to 3.5 cm, and in men up to 10 cm. Is there a difference?
Infections of the urogenital system are “unpleasant” also because they have an upward trend. I.e., inflammation appeared in the urethra and lifted up, "infecting" bladder, there can "walk" up and kidneys. In women, any manifestations of inflammatory processes pass with the presence of a certain character of the vaginal discharge: mucous, transparent, thick, white, purulent. The presence and nature of the discharge can be suspected the emergence of a disease. In men, everything proceeds covertly. And the most common cystitis can be detected only in the case when the pain at the end of urination is accompanied by the presence of blood in the urine, which will already be an indicator of the development of an advanced form of inflammation.
The following difference can be called the fact that women are more attentive and scrupulous in matters of health, and more often they turn to doctors, especially when they start to worry about pain. Men tend to ignore the pain until the end of patience. Which, of course, deserves condemnation.
What to do if you have pain at the end of urination?
For any manifestations of inflammation, any organ, in any degree of severity, in the first place, you need to consult a doctor. Forget about taking a hot bath or warming an inflamed organ in other ways. Microbes, viruses, and some bacteria are capable of several times faster reproduction with increasing temperature. Unmotivated medication, without a doctor's prescription, may also aggravate the situation. Pain at the end of urination, at home, can be removed. Surely everyone in the family has at least one grandmother's recipe, but is it worth the risk when there is no confirmed diagnosis?
During a visit to the doctor, you will certainly be prescribed to pass a analysis urinalysis, blood tests, urethral smears. Endoscopic examinations, depending on the degree of damage and neglect of the disease - cystoscopy, ultrasound examination of the urogenital system. Men will be given a recommendation to visit an andrologist. Women are required to be examined by a gynecologist.
For treatment, not complicated by cystitis, it is not necessary to be in the hospital. Compliance with the recommendations of the doctor at home will allow to get rid of inflammatory processes in a short time. It is likely that drug therapy will consist of taking furagin or canephron. In the presence of pathogenic microflora, it is possible to prescribe a wider spectrum of antibiotics. In support of drugs, you should definitely follow a sparing diet that excludes spicy, sour and salty foods.
There are proven alternative medicine recipes that, for many years, used by our grandmothers and mothers. We give, as an example, one of them. Most of all, women are prone to such treatment, but this information will also be useful for men. On the first day, as soon as pain appeared at the end of urination, dill seeds must be purchased at the pharmacy. Prepare a drink: pour 1 tablespoon of dill seeds into a thermos, pour a glass of hot water, let it stand for 15 minutes. Take 100 grams, three times a day.
