Causes of pain in the ovaries
Modern medicine develops kilometer steps. Every day, scientists invent new diagnostic devices and drugs for treatment. That is why today it is not difficult to put the right diagnosis with the symptoms of pain in the ovaries. The causes of such pain can be in the following diseases:
- Adnexitis - this term is called in medicine inflammation of the ovaries. It can arise due to infection in the genitourinary system of a woman (chlamydia, ureoplasma, mycoplasma, candida). It is this cause of inflammatory processes in the ovaries that is the most common. Sometimes adnexitis occurs due to supercooling of the pelvic organs. Distinguish acute and chronic form of the disease. Often they are transferred without raising the body temperature, but sometimes a slight increase that lasts for many days is possible. Pain in the ovaries with adnexitis can give in the lower back or spread throughout the lower abdomen. The danger of this disease is that a neglected flow of chronic form often leads to infertility.
- Oophoritis is an inflammation localized in the appendages of the ovaries. By their nature, the pain in the ovaries is very similar to those in adnexitis. More often they appear, then disappear. But there are cases when such pain is not passing. Oophoritis leads to disturbances in the work of the nervous system of a woman. There are such signs as a violation of sleep, weakness, drowsiness, irritability. Overcooling, decreased immunity and excessive physical exertion can provoke an increase in pain.
- A cyst that is formed on the ovary can cause severe pain at the time of its onset, growth, twisting or rupture. Twisting leads to a complication of blood circulation in the ovaries, which can promote the development of necrosis. Also, due to the twisting of the cyst's leg, the capsules themselves often break and the liquid is poured into the abdominal cavity. This is a dangerous phenomenon, as it can cause peritonitis - infection and inflammation of the abdominal cavity, which in itself carries a clear threat to the life of a woman.
- Apoplexy of the ovary is a hemorrhage into the abdominal cavity, caused by a hemorrhage into the parenchyma of the ovary and a violation of its integrity. The pain in this case arises abruptly and unexpectedly. Symptoms that are able to indicate the ovarian aplexis are also nausea, vomiting, fainting.
- Tumor of the ovary, which reaches a large size, can cause pain, because it can press on neighboring organs and nerve endings. Such tumors are most often determined by palpation of the patient or by ultrasonic diagnostics. The ovarian tumor found in early stages can respond well to treatment.
Other variants of the appearance of pain
In addition to the above common diseases, pain in the ovaries can occur as a symptom of complications after the illness (spike) or in the process of ovulation. Bloody discharge during the process of ovulation does not always indicate any deviations in the body of a woman. But it is not uncommon for ovaries to burst during ovulation and this leads to hemorrhage. Then the pain in the lower abdomen and especially in the area of the affected ovary become very strong, intolerable. In this case, it is necessary to intervene physicians, so that the process of inflammation of the abdominal cavity does not develop. A broken ovary is often stitched, which allows it to continue to function. Above all, a feeling of pain in the lower abdomen may be caused by psycho-neurological factors (depression, hypochondria, hysteria).
What if you have ovarian pain?
Pain in the ovaries is a pretty insidious symptom. The fact is that, contrary to the opinion of most women, the terrible diseases that cause it, in fact, often respond well to treatment. But the usual inflammation, which many simply ignore, can lead to really serious consequences. Therefore, a visit to a gynecologist is simply necessary in case of such pain. Ideally, a female doctor should be visited for prevention every six months.
