Treatment of gumboil should be timely to avoid the spread of the inflammatory process to surrounding structures and the formation of a fistula.

Periostitis or the more commonly known name "flux" is the appearance of an inflammatory reaction in the connective tissue covering the periosteum. The main symptoms of the pathology are swelling of the gums and intense pain. In some cases, swelling of the lips, cheeks or nose is possible, as well as an increase in temperature.

There are many reasons for gumboil, the main ones are considered to be carious lesions of teeth or mechanical impact on soft tissues, as a result of which their integrity is violated. In addition, not fully cured teeth, when inflammation covers healthy areas due to infection. Also, do not forget about pulpitis, periodontitis, which contribute to the development of gumboil.

Treatment may include medication, surgery, or folk remedies. If gumboil treatment is not started in a timely manner, the risk of complications such as abscess formation and osteomyelitis increases.

Methods of treating gumboil

In order to determine the tactics of treating the pathology, it is necessary to establish its severity, the presence of concomitant diseases and the age of the patient. Methods of treating gumboil include the use of medications, surgical intervention and traditional medicine.

Drug therapy is used in the early stages of the inflammatory process, when there is no purulent focus and other complications. The goal of therapy is to reduce swelling, for which antibacterial agents are used.

In addition, it is necessary to identify the true cause of the gumboil development, which must be eliminated. If a chronic form of gumboil with frequent exacerbations is observed, then general strengthening therapy with vitamins, immunostimulants and calcium gluconate is recommended.

Surgical intervention is necessary if drug therapy is ineffective and the pathological process has spread to surrounding tissues.

The operation involves anesthesia, opening the abscess, draining the gums and further administration of medications. If the tooth cannot be saved, then it should be removed, the cavity should be cleaned of purulent masses, drainage should be installed and medication should be administered. In some cases, after tooth extraction, it is rational to prescribe laser, ultrasound treatment or iontophoresis.

In the future, there is a possibility of installing an implant, which is practically indistinguishable in appearance from a real tooth.

Methods of treating gumboil also include the use of folk remedies, but it is worth understanding that herbs can only combat gumboil at the initial stage without the presence of purulent masses.

Treatment of gumboil with antibiotics

Once the diagnosis of "flux" has been established and confirmed, it is necessary to prescribe antibacterial agents. The selection of a certain group of antibiotics should be done by a doctor, taking into account the cause of the flux and the presence of concomitant diseases.

Treatment of gumboil with antibiotics is especially effective at an early stage, when the abscess has not yet formed. They help reduce the inflammatory reaction, eliminate swelling and prevent infection of the lesion. In addition to antibiotics, it is necessary to prescribe painkillers to reduce the severity of the pain syndrome.

In the case of abscess formation, antibacterial drugs are prescribed only after surgical intervention with opening and drainage of the pathological focus.

Treatment of gumboil with antibiotics is most often carried out with the following drugs: lincosamines (lincomycin), penicillins (amoxiclav, ampiox) or fluoroquinolones (tsifran). The dosage of each antibacterial agent is determined individually, taking into account the severity of the process and concomitant pathology.

The effectiveness of antibacterial therapy depends on the correct choice of the drug, dosage and treatment regimen. If the group of antibiotics is incorrectly selected, an insufficient therapeutic result is possible, since it will not affect the infectious agent.

In addition, an insufficient dose of the drug will not have the desired effect, and, on the contrary, high doses can cause side effects, which is undesirable in the presence of an inflammatory process.

Treatment of gumboil with antibiotic tsiprolet

Ciprolet is a representative of the pharmacological group of fluoroquinolones. Due to its broad spectrum, the antibiotic is used to treat many infectious diseases to eliminate the pathogen and reduce the inflammatory reaction in response to its presence.

The active ingredient of ciprolet is ciprofloxacin, which has proven its effectiveness in the fight against gram-positive and negative microbes, as well as intracellular pathogens.

Treatment with the antibiotic ciprolet is due to its ability to quickly penetrate tissues and destroy infectious agents. By blocking their reproduction and vital activity, bacteria gradually die.

However, it is worth remembering that when taking ciprofloxacin orally, like any other antibacterial agent, the level of dysbacteriosis increases. This occurs as a result of the destructive effect of the drug not only on pathogenic microorganisms, but also on beneficial ones. Thus, dysbacteriosis may be observed in the intestines, to prevent the development of which you need to take probiotics.

Treatment with the antibiotic ciprolet in most cases leads to a good result, since the resistance of infectious agents to ciprofloxacin develops very slowly. Bacteria, exposed to the action of ciprolet, cannot remain in a persistent state, since the effect of the antibiotic leads to their death.

In addition to its positive effects, it is necessary to highlight the possible side effects that ciprofloxacin has. These include heart rhythm disturbances, migraine-like headaches, increased heart rate, allergic reactions, insomnia, dizziness, increased fatigue and fainting.

Treatment of gumboil in a child

Parents should understand that gumboil cannot be cured on its own, especially in children. Attempts at self-treatment can lead to complications in the form of infection and inflammation of the meninges.

When the first signs of gumboil appear, it is recommended to immediately consult a doctor. Until then, parents are prohibited from warming up the pathological focus, so as not to provoke the proliferation of pathogenic agents.

In addition, you should not rinse your mouth with herbal infusions to avoid the spread of infectious microorganisms to other organs and cavities.

Treatment of gumboil in a child involves performing surgical intervention to remove purulent masses from the pathological focus and its sanitation. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. In some cases, it is rational to remove a baby tooth to avoid the spread of infection to surrounding healthy tissues.

After the operation, it is necessary to take antibacterial agents, and, if necessary, painkillers. In order to reduce the severity of the inflammatory reaction, it is necessary to rinse the mouth with antiseptic solutions or herbal decoctions.

Treatment of gumboil in a child requires strict adherence to the doctor's instructions, as there is a high risk of relapse. To avoid this, it is recommended to strengthen the immune system, select the right toothpaste and visit the dentist regularly for preventive purposes.

Treatment of gumboil after tooth extraction

The process of tooth extraction may not always proceed without complications. This depends on the severity of the tooth condition and the presence of concomitant diseases. Usually, after this manipulation, physiological swelling remains, which does not require special treatment and goes away on its own.

On the day of the operation, you can ease the condition by applying something cold to the area where the tooth was removed. Then you can apply dry heat, but only if there are no signs of an inflammatory reaction.

If a gumboil appears at the site of the extracted tooth, then the use of heat is contraindicated to avoid the spread of infection. Thus, the pathological focus requires mandatory sanitation to remove pathogenic microorganisms.

Treatment of gumboil after tooth extraction consists of prescribing a course of antibacterial and painkillers. This ensures the cleansing of the lesion from pathogens and the elimination of pain. Of the antibiotics, fluoroquinolones or penicillins can be prescribed.

As painkillers, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be used, which simultaneously reduce the severity of inflammation and reduce the intensity of pain. From this group of drugs, it is recommended to use ibuprofen, baralgin or ketorol.

Additional drugs are general tonics in the form of vitamins and immunostimulants. The total duration of treatment can be up to 3 weeks.

If after this period the pain syndrome increases in intensity, the swelling does not go away and the cheek increases in volume, then it is necessary to conduct repeated sanitation of the pathological focus. In severe cases, if conservative therapy is ineffective, surgical treatment is used.

Treatment of gumboil on the cheek

Quite often people try to cure gumboil with folk remedies. Of course, at the initial stage they have a good chance of achieving good results, but with a pronounced inflammatory response of the body, it is necessary to resort to other methods of treatment.

Folk remedies are recommended to be used in parallel with the main therapy in the form of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs. The choice of antibiotics, their dose and regimen should be selected by a doctor. The most commonly used pharmacological group is fluoroquinolones or penicillins.

Treatment of gumboil on the cheek also involves the use of painkillers, since tissue swelling contributes to the compression of nerve endings.

In case of gumboil, it is strictly forbidden to use heat, which is usually applied to the source. Local increase in temperature can cause intensive reproduction and spread of pathogenic microorganisms, which is undesirable in case of gumboil.

Severe cases of the disease require surgical treatment of gumboil on the cheek. Thus, tissue is cut, purulent masses are removed, drainage is installed if necessary, and further medications are used.

As a result of such treatment, the intensity of the pain syndrome decreases within a few hours, and the inflammation – within a couple of days. However, despite the positive result, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs should be taken for a specified period of time (7-10 days).

Treatment of gumboil with folk remedies

To reduce swelling, pain and inflammation at the early stage of gumboil, it is recommended to use a decoction of sage and mustard herb. Its preparation takes about an hour. So, you should combine 60 g of sage and mustard herb, then pour a glass of boiling water and leave to infuse for a quarter of an hour. The resulting decoction should be used to rinse the mouth 6-8 times.

Common treatment of gumboil with folk remedies also includes the use of a decoction of sage, St. John's wort and oak bark for rinsing. Taking an equal amount of herbs (60 g each), they must be mixed and poured with a liter of boiling water. As soon as the decoction is ready, it is recommended to rinse the mouth up to 10 times a day.

In addition, sage can be brewed with green tea. After preparing the decoction, add 5 g of salt and rinse 5 times a day. It is advisable to rinse with hot decoction, but not boiling water!

To reduce the intensity of the pain syndrome, traditional medicine provides for the use of the following decoction. So, for it you will need 60 g of birch buds, peppermint, periwinkle, and angelica. After mixing these herbs, they should be brewed with a liter of boiling water and left to infuse. As soon as the decoction is ready, you should rinse up to 6 times a day.

In addition to rinsing, traditional medicine suggests using ointments, lotions and much more.

How to rinse gum flux?

Rinsing is one of the methods of treating gumboil, but only after removing the purulent focus, when pathogenic microorganisms will not spread to other tissues and organs.

What to rinse gum flux with? For rinsing, you can choose antiseptics of pharmacological groups or natural origin. Thus, traditional medicine advises using an infusion of St. John's wort, sage, oak bark or yarrow.

These herbs can be brewed separately or together. The most popular decoction is a combination of St. John's wort (60 g), sage (45 g) and oak bark (30 g). To prepare, just pour 45 g of the mixture with a liter of boiling water and leave to infuse.

Once the medicine is ready, it needs to be filtered and you should start rinsing with a warm solution up to 8 times a day.

To prepare one of the above herbs, pour a glass of boiling water over 20-30 g of the herb and let it brew for about half an hour. Rinse your mouth often, especially after meals and at night.

Oak bark is especially helpful, as it has astringent, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. To prepare, pour 20 g of bark with a glass of boiling water and leave for a quarter of an hour, after which you need to rinse your mouth with the decoction every 1.5-2 hours.

Treatment of gumboil with soda

Baking soda is used quite often for inflammatory diseases of the throat. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, pathogenic microorganisms are eliminated and the body's inflammatory response in the form of swelling and redness is reduced.

Treatment of gumboil with soda is also widely used in dentistry. It is used in the form of solutions for rinsing the mouth or for lotions on inflamed gums.

To prepare the solution, dissolve 5 g of soda and salt in a glass of warm water. Rinse your mouth with this solution up to 8 times, especially in the first days when the inflammation is active. Then, as the intensity of the inflammatory process decreases, the frequency of using the solution can be reduced to 2-3 times a day.

In some cases, it is recommended to add 5 drops of iodine to such a solution. This should be done very carefully and the dosage should be strictly observed to avoid damage to the oral mucosa.

Treatment of gumboil with soda also involves its use in the form of lotions. So, you need to wrap 5 g of soda in a gauze napkin and apply it to the gum where the pathological focus is located. Such lotions should be kept for 2-3 hours and repeated 2-3 times a day.

Treatment with propolis flux

Beekeeping products are very often used in medicine, as they have a huge number of medicinal properties. Thus, to treat gumboil, you can chew a piece of propolis several times a day. However, it is necessary to understand that in the presence of abscesses, propolis will not be able to provide the desired result.

Treatment of gumboil with propolis is carried out using an ointment. To prepare it, you should combine vegetable oil, 20 g of beeswax and propolis, then heat it over low heat. As soon as the wax dissolves, you need to add a pre-chopped boiled egg yolk.

After thoroughly mixing this mixture, remove it from the heat and leave it to cool. It is recommended to apply the ointment heated in a water bath to the gum twice a day. It can be stored in a glass jar in the refrigerator.

In addition, you can lubricate the gum with an alcohol extract of propolis (5%). However, it is worth remembering that propolis can be used as an auxiliary agent at the initial stage of gumboil for disinfection, reducing swelling and pain.

Propolis can be warmed up in your palms to the consistency of plasticine and applied as a flat cake to the inflammatory focus. There is another recipe for an ointment based on propolis. To prepare it, you need to warm up 100 g of butter (cream) or goose fat and add 30 g of crushed propolis.

The mixture should be boiled in a water bath, then filtered while hot and used 2-3 times a day. It can be stored in the refrigerator.

Treatment of gumboil with ointment

Medicinal ointments can be a pharmacological agent or one of the methods of traditional medicine. They are used for the purpose of applying to the inflamed area of the gum to reduce the severity of pain, swelling and disinfection.

Treatment of gumboil with wax ointment is applied before bedtime to the inflamed tissues. To prepare, dissolve a matchbox-sized piece of wax in 220 g of vegetable oil and add chopped boiled egg yolk. This mixture should be heated for 5 minutes and filtered. It is recommended to store in the refrigerator and warm it up a little before use.

In addition to folk methods, gumboil treatment with ointment can be carried out with pharmacological drugs. For example, Vishnevsky ointment is used to slow down the progression of the inflammatory process and prevent the appearance of purulent masses. In addition, it reduces gum swelling and reduces the severity of pain.

Xeroform provides an antibacterial effect, birch tar activates local blood circulation, and castor oil ensures deep penetration of the remaining components of the ointment.

The ointment is used at the beginning of the development of gumboil without pus or after the abscess has opened by applying it to a sterile napkin and placing it on the skin of the cheek for a couple of hours.

Metrogil Denta (a combination of metronidazole and chlorhexidine) is also widely used, which provides a rapid anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. The gel should be applied to the gums three times a day for 30 minutes.

It is worth paying attention to the Levomekol ointment, which causes an antibacterial and regenerative effect. In addition, it is used in the presence of an abscess. The ointment should be used in the form of applications of a sterile napkin with the drug applied for 2-3 hours. After surgical removal of the abscess, Levomekol can be injected directly into the cavity.

Treatment of gumboil with medications

The approach to treating gumboil should be multicomponent to ensure disinfection of the pathological focus, reduction of the severity of the inflammatory response and intensity of clinical symptoms.

Treatment of gumboil with medications involves the use of anti-inflammatory drugs, which provide analgesic, anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effects. Some representatives of this group of drugs are able to reduce hyperthermia, which sometimes accompanies periostitis.

Among the drugs, it is worth noting nimesil in a dosage of 100 mg per tablet with a frequency of taking 2 times a day. Diclofenac in a dosage of 25-50 mg per day causes a strong anti-inflammatory effect and significantly reduces the intensity of the pain syndrome. To reduce swelling, you can also use drugs of the desensitizing pharmacological group in the form of diazolin. By inhibiting the secretion of biologically active components of inflammation, it reduces the severity of edema. It is rational to take 1 tablet of 100 mg up to 3 times a day.

An obligatory component of treatment is rinsing the mouth after opening the abscess and its sanitation. In addition, in the early stages of inflammation, the formation of an abscess can be prevented with the help of rinsing solutions. For this purpose, the use of soda is allowed, which relieves pain and prevents the progression of the inflammatory process.

It is also recommended to use rotokan, which contains an alcohol tincture of calendula, chamomile and yarrow. This collection provides an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect.

Malavit consists of herbal extracts, silver and copper, which causes antibacterial, anti-edematous and analgesic effects. Chlorhexidine, betadine or furacilin are also suitable for rinsing. The listed solutions should be used several times a day to achieve the desired effect.

Treatment of gumboil with medications includes the use of antibacterial agents that help stop the spread of infection and prevent the formation of an abscess. If it is not possible to avoid the appearance of purulent masses, then it is necessary to open the abscess, sanitize it and prescribe a course of antibiotics to prevent infection of the lesion.

The selection of antibacterial agents and their dosage is carried out by a doctor. The most commonly used group is penicillins, fluoroquinolones, tetracyclines and others. Thus, the most effective are ciprolet, amoxiclav, doxycycline, flemoxin solutab, ciprofloxacin and biseptol.

Before taking them, you need to familiarize yourself with their possible side effects and contraindications to avoid worsening the condition.

An additional component of gumboil treatment are ointments, for example, Vishnevsky, Metrogil Denta or Levomekol. The latter can be used in the presence of purulent masses in the pathological focus.

In addition, in some cases, lotions and compresses based on dimexide, soda and salt are effective.

Gum rupture due to gumboil

As the inflammation progresses, purulent contents appear in a certain area of the gum. If no treatment is taken at this stage, the volume of pus may increase so much that a gum rupture is possible with gumboil.

To avoid spontaneous opening of the abscess and spread of its contents throughout the oral cavity, it is necessary to carry out treatment programs in a timely manner.

Thus, when pus appears and there is no effect from medications, surgical treatment should be considered. With the help of anesthesia, a person loses some types of sensitivity, which facilitates the process of opening the abscess.

The surgeon makes an incision, removes purulent masses and sanitizes the lesion. In some cases, drainage may be used to prevent the reappearance of purulent discharge.

After this operation, it is necessary to use antibacterial and analgesic agents to prevent infection. If the gum rupture with gumboil occurred independently (without the participation of a surgeon), then you should immediately contact a doctor to sanitize the pathological focus and prescribe the required therapy.

How much does gumboil treatment cost?

The prescription of drug therapy or surgical intervention should be carried out by a physician based on the severity of the inflammatory process, the presence of concomitant pathology and general health condition.

How much does gumboil treatment cost? In dental clinics, you may encounter different prices, which depend on the status of the clinic itself and the severity of the gumboil.

On average, the price can vary within 200 hryvnia. However, it is worth noting that each case requires an individual approach and treatment.

In the absence of an abscess at the initial stage of the inflammatory process, treatment of gumboil can be limited to antibacterial, painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs. In addition, you can use rinses and lotions on the gum. In this case, the cost can be even less than 200 hryvnia.

However, if the gumboil is characterized by the presence of a pronounced inflammatory process, purulent masses and deterioration of the general condition, then the price can be much higher. Treatment of this case requires surgical intervention and the appointment of postoperative drug treatment.

Treatment of gumboil at the initial stage is not particularly difficult, provided a qualified approach and timely start of drug therapy. If the inflammatory process progresses and an abscess forms, then it is worth considering a surgical method of treatment with subsequent drug therapy. The operation takes a little time and ensures the sanitation of the pathological focus, which is the key to a quick recovery.
