Eustachitis is rarely so severe that hospitalization of the patient is required. In hospital conditions can be treated in small children due to the fact that in addition to strict dosing of drugs requires constant monitoring of the reaction of the baby to the impact of certain therapeutic factors and procedures. Some patients after surgical intervention also require medical supervision.

In most cases treatment of eustachitis is carried out at home, which requires some effort from the patient and his relatives. After all, to successfully fight the disease is often not enough just to take pharmacy drugs. It is necessary to regularly rinse the nose, avoiding its blockage and disruption of ventilation of the auditory tube, go to physiotherapy procedures and mechanotherapy (conducted in specialized offices), put compresses.

To quickly restore the patency of the eustachian tube and the hearing impaired by the disease, it is very important to start performing effective ear exercises and massages after the acute symptoms have been relieved.

In addition, there are many folk methods of treatment of inflammatory diseases of the external and internal structures of the ear, recognized by doctors of traditional medicine. Their use in combination with classical treatment helps to speed up the recovery process. But it should be remembered that each recipe and method must be coordinated with a doctor. Otherwise, you can only harm yourself, as happens, for example, if you do exercises incorrectly too intensively or apply warming compresses for purulent otitis media or eustachitis.

Folk treatment

Be that as it may, but doctors do not reject the benefits of practicing traditional medicine in turbo-otitis. After all, the same acupuncture is not included in the category of methods of traditional medicine, as well as homeopathy, the effectiveness of certain drugs which are generally recognized by experts (not for nothing they can be bought in ordinary pharmacies). As for purely folk wisdom, there are many tips and recommendations that help to cope with inflammation and swelling as quickly as possible, despite the fact that doctors consider eustachitis a difficult disease to treat.

What methods and recipes we can offer us folk medicine in connection with such a peculiar ENT disease:

  • Heating as a method of quick and effective relief of pain and discomfort caused by inflammation of the ear tissues. It should be noted at once that it can be used only if the disease has not turned purulent.

Different formulas are used for warming:

  • Salt. It is heated in a frying pan, poured into a thick cloth bag and applied to the sore ear for a few minutes (usually while the salt begins to cool).
  • Mashed hot potatoes.
  • Blue lamp (Minin's reflector helps to carry out UVO procedure at home - it is both warming and fighting infection).

Compresses to control pain, inflammation, and tissue swelling:

  • Alcohol. It is important to realize that alcohol should not penetrate into the ear. It is enough to soak a piece of gauze with a slit for the ear, slightly squeeze and apply it to the area around the ear, covering it with a piece of compress paper or film. The construction is insulated with a large piece of absorbent cotton and fixed with a bandage, scarf or scarf.

Doctors do not recommend using alcohol for compresses for children, especially near the face, when the child also inhales ethanol vapors. If there is no other way to relieve pain and pacify the infection, alcohol should be diluted in equal proportions with water, so as not to cause irritation of delicate children's skin.

  • Oil. For it, camphor or any vegetable oil is used, which is impregnated with cloth. Then act as in the case of an alcohol compress.

It is important to remember that a compress is also a warming procedure, which should not be done with a purulent form of the disease. In addition, any thermal procedures are contraindicated in case of high body temperature. Do not apply irritating compositions to the area around the ear, and in the presence of wounds and skin irritation in this area.

Ear drops. Treatment formulations can be different:

  • Garlic-oil drops: crushed garlic poured warmed and cooled vegetable oil and insist 8-12 hours, then strain and inject into the ear 2-3 drops once a day.
  • Beet juice. Boiled beets are used to obtain it. The juice is dripped 3-4 drops up to 5 times a day.
  • Onion juice diluted with water (2-3 drops once a day).
  • Fresh juice of aloe or kalanchoe, diluted with water in proportion 1:1 (3-4 drops 4-5 times a day).

Turuns in the ear:

  • Onion gruel wrapped in gauze.
  • Tincture of propolis, in which added one-fourth of vegetable oil (wet a piece of bandage, rolled into a turunda and inserted into the external ear canal for 8-0 hours, no more).
  • Herbal decoctions and infusions:
    • calendula, turfgrass, horsetail, blueberry leaves, plantain, turunda placed for 1 hour every day for a week,
    • celandine, lavender, yarrow, dandelion (root), eucalyptus (turunda placed for half an hour daily).

To prepare compositions for half a liter of water take 2 tbsp. Of plant material, insist at least 8 hours in a warm place, then strain and use as directed.

The composition with lavender can additionally be taken internally a quarter cup three times a day.

Nasal drops:

  • Onion juice. Adults can try dripping the juice of a raw onion. Children will need to preheat an onion bulb in a pan in gauze for a few minutes.
  • Aloe juice. 2-3 drops three times a day for a week. Effective for runny nose, which complicates the course of eustachyitis.
  • Beet juice. It is prepared from fresh washed and peeled vegetable by grating beets and squeezing the juice or using a juicer. It is used in diluted form, mixed with the same amount of water. This is an excellent alternative to vasoconstrictor drops.

Almost all compositions that we drop into the ears or nose should have a temperature close to body temperature. To do this, they are heated in the container in a glass of warm water.

Before dripping ears or nose, it is recommended to clean them thoroughly: rinse the nose, and clean the ears with cotton swabs, which can be pre-moistened in a warm herbal decoction.

To combat eustachyitis, herbal treatment is also practiced. In this regard, aloe is actively used. Juice of the plant is injected into the nose and ears, it is used for gargling the throat and nose (half diluted with water), inside take alcohol tincture (to strengthen immunity 1 tsp. Up to 3 times a day).

The following herbal collections can be used for oral intake and preparation of turundas:

  • Calendula, peppermint, bitternut, peony and althea root, blueberry leaves.
  • Immortelle (flowers), labaznik, nettle, turfgrass, snake bitter (root), pine buds.
  • Chamomile, hop cones, strawberry and lingonberry leaves.
  • Eucalyptus, lavender, yarrow, dandelion (root).
  • Anise (fruit), burdock (root), chamomile (flowers), bilberry (shoots), bird's-mouth and St. John's wort (herb).

It is clear that herbal decoctions are not able to cure bacterial eustachitis, so in this case they are used as an auxiliary remedy for ear pain, inflammation and swelling. In other types of eustachitis, folk treatment can be used as the main method of therapy, choosing only those recipes and plants that will not cause an allergic reaction or deterioration of health.

Homeopathy

Nowadays, many people, not wanting to go to doctors who "poison" us with medicinal chemistry, find salvation in unconventional methods of treatment of otitis media and eustachitis. Some prefer folk recipes, others - homeopathy. Despite the fact that the scientific effectiveness of homeopathy is not proven, many people note the improvement of the condition, reduction of signs of disease, beneficial effects on the whole body, which is manifested in a reduction in the frequency of recurrences of the disease.

Patients with chronic eustachyitis are especially inclined to homeopathic treatment, because they regularly have to take course treatment, which hits other organs, and in particular the kidneys.

So what are the remedies that homeopaths offer to treat inflammation in the ears:

  • Aconite (Aconitum). It is prescribed if inflammation occurs with fever. It is effective in the acute stage of the disease, if a person feels thirsty, increased anxiety, pupils are narrow, the skin is pale or red. The drug is used in the highest dilution, 4 times a day, 1 dose, the last one before bedtime.

Next, the doctor may prescribe drugs such as Spongia, Hepar sulfur, Sulfur, Phosphorus, Lycopodium.

  • Hepar sulfur (Hepar sulfur) is prescribed hypersensitivity of the ear to sounds, including your own voice, touch, unexpressed pain syndrome, discharge from the ear canal bad-smelling inflammatory exudate.
  • Belladonna (Belladonna). Effective in acute inflammation of the ears against the background of respiratory infections. Appointed if the patient experiences pain, fever, profuse sweating, hyperexcitability, wide pupils, possible salivation. Start treatment with smaller dilutions, which are increased throughout the day.

Further mercury preparations, Phytolyaca, Calcarea carbonica may be prescribed.

  • Mercurium dulcis is considered the No. 1 drug in the treatment of otitis media and is quite often prescribed for eustachitis, especially in case of bacterial complications. The drug is prescribed in dilution C6 4 peas 4 times a day. Improvement should come already in the first days, if it does not happen, gradually switch to Mercurium solubilis in the same dosage.

For ear pain, prescribe Mercurius iodatus ( depending on the location of the sore ear).

The drugs are effective in chronic infections, but can also be used in the acute stage.

  • Pulsatilla. Helps relieve ear soreness in case of inflammation. The drug is often used in the treatment of children prone to caprice, jealousy, poorly tolerating foggy air and greasy food, with a pronounced reaction to tuberculin test and BCG. The drug is given in decreasing doses.
  • Chamomilla (Chamomilla). Chamomilla-based drug has a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect, helps relieve pain and irritability, reduces the sensitivity of the ears to sounds. It is effective in cases of stuffiness and tinnitus.
  • Ferrum phosphoricum (Ferrum phosphoricum). Effective in the first days of the disease in people with low severity of symptoms. It is indicated when there is a risk of spread of infection to the respiratory tract, prevents inflammation of lymph nodes.
  • Manganum aceticum (manganum aceticum). The drug is prescribed in case of stuffy ears, tinnitus and ringing in the ears, deterioration of hearing in adults and children.

Homeopathic drops for adults "Rinitol" by Edas can be used for nasal spraying. They are prescribed 2-3 drops into each nasal passage three times a day.

In viral infections are good help tablets (1 tablet under the tongue or grind into powder and dissolve in water, 3 times a day without eating) and injections (1 ampoule once every 1-3 days) homeopathic remedy "Engistol", which has antiviral, anti-inflammatory and regenerating effect. The course of treatment is from 2 to 5 weeks.

Another drug with a similar effect is Lymphomiazot by Heel. It is taken orally. It is allowed for children from birth.

Homeopaths recommend homeopathic drops "Aflubin" for children with viral infections and acute inflammation of the ears developing on their background. They are given internally and used locally, mixed with vodka (1 tsp. Vodka - 4-5 drops of medicine). The finished drug is carefully poured into the ear, cover with a cotton swab and rub the ear to red. It is desirable to do the procedure on both ears.

NutriBiotic drops containing grapefruit oil are effective for ear inflammation, congestion and pain. They are also good for preventive purposes.

In acute otitis media and eustachyitis can be used homeopathic drops Thuja C1, which are taken orally. The daily dose for adults - 11-15 drops, for children over 10 years - 6-7 drops, 4-10 years - 2-4 drops, up to 2 years -1-2 drops. In the first days of the disease, the drug is taken every half an hour, subsequently 1 every 3-4 hours. In chronic inflammation, the treatment scheme is individual.

When seeking help from homeopathy, it should be remembered that in the first days of taking such medicines, the patient's condition may worsen, symptoms become more pronounced, which is not a reason to stop treatment. Sometimes doctors advise a pause of 1-3 days, and then continue taking the drugs.
