Many methods are used to treat erosion, such as cryodestruction, laser coagulation, diathermocoagulation, medicinal therapy with suppositories. However, the most effective radio wave treatment of cervical erosion is recognized.
This method is safe (can be used even in nulliparous patients), after it there are no scars on the cervix, and erosion is removed completely and, as a rule, irrevocably. On the features of radio wave treatment, we will talk later in our article.

Indications for radio wave treatment of cervical erosion
Radio-wave therapy is currently considered one of the most promising methods for treating cervical erosion. This unique contactless procedure for affecting soft tissues is based on the ability of tissues to evaporate under the action of high frequency waves, which are reproduced by a special knife. Radio waves allow the procedure to be performed efficiently and practically painless without damaging nearby tissues, without causing bleeding, without the risk of further complications.
Using a radio-wave knife allows you to simultaneously dissect tissue, disinfect and coagulate open vessels. The tissues are restored within a fairly short time, without causing cicatricial changes and deformation of the cervical walls.
Radio wave treatment is often used in the erosion of the cervix. Indications for the use of such therapy are both erosion and congenital pseuderosion, endocervicosis (abnormal development of the cylindrical epithelial tissue of the cervix uteri), erosive lesion in combination with inflammatory diseases (caused by staphylococcus, chlamydia, gonococcus, candidiasis, etc.), cervical dysplasia .
In addition to eliminating cervical erosion, radio wave therapy is used in the treatment of polyposis, papillomas and genital warts, cystic formations of Bartholin glands, as well as biopsy and coagulation of bleeding vessels.
Preparation for radio wave treatment of cervical erosion
When preparing for the radio wave treatment of cervical erosion, the following rules should be observed:
- is performed only with a confirmed diagnosis of cervical erosion, in most cases after taking a biopsy;
- before starting treatment should result in a normal vaginal environment;
- It is necessary to be examined for the absence of pathologies that are transmitted sexually;
- if before the beginning of therapy venereal or infectious diseases were detected in the acute stage, the necessary therapy should be carried out beforehand;
- at conditions of an immunodeficiency it is necessary to pass or take place complex treatment, stimulating immunity.
The decision to conduct radio wave therapy should be taken by a doctor, but only after the patient's consent, understanding the need for this particular therapy.
How is radio wave cervical erosion treated?
Radio wave treatment of cervical erosion is carried out in the first half of the monthly cycle (approximately from the fifth to the tenth day): during this period the probability of bleeding is significantly reduced, and tissue repair proceeds better and faster.
Conducting radio wave therapy does not require hospitalization of the patient. The procedure lasts, as a rule, about 15 minutes. The woman is on a gynecological chair, the doctor disinfects and anesthetizes the cervix and proceeds to the procedure.
A radio wave knife does not cut tissue like a scalpel, and does not cauterize like a laser. Under the influence of special waves, without direct contact with the mucosa, the tissues dissect in the necessary place, and the low-temperature vapor that forms during the evaporation of cells coagulates the underlying vessels, which helps to prevent bleeding.
The tissues heal fairly quickly: the tissue in place of small erosions is restored by the next monthly cycle.
During the procedure, there may be a feeling of discomfort and a slight soreness in the lower abdomen, reminiscent of the onset of menstruation. If a woman is sensitive to pain, she may be offered a local anesthesia.
After the procedure, minor discharge from the genital tract may be disturbing: this is the healing of the tissues and the departure of the exfoliated tissue. Such discharge should disappear on its own for 10 days.
Radio wave therapy is usually limited to one session. The next 3-4 weeks after the procedure is not recommended to have sex, walk or run fast, visit public pools and beaches, baths and saunas. To wash it is necessary only under a shower, and necessarily to limit itself from physical activities.
Contraindications to radio wave treatment of cervical erosion
Of course, like any therapeutic method, radio wave treatment of the cervix has a number of contraindications:
- period of menstruation, as well as any bleeding of unknown origin;
- acute or acute stage of the inflammatory process in the genital area (inflammation of the uterus, appendages, external and internal genital organs). The procedure can be performed outside the stage of exacerbation;
- acute infection of non-gynecological profile, leading to a decrease in immunity (influenza and other viral infections, sinusitis, inflammatory processes of the urinary tract), as well as fever;
- pregnancy regardless of the period;
- disorders of the blood coagulation system;
- Decompensated diabetes mellitus;
- mental disorders (seizures, schizophrenia);
- presence of a pacemaker and a uterine spiral in the patient.
The following conditions are not included in the list of contraindications:
- condition after cesarean section;
- carrier of the papilloma virus;
- surgical treatment of thyroid gland;
- lactation period.
Radio waves have no effect on lactation, and breast milk does not change its qualitative characteristics, so it is not necessary to interrupt feeding during therapy.
Complications of radio wave treatment of cervical erosion
Radio wave treatment of erosion of the cervix almost does not cause complications, especially if all the instructions and recommendations of the doctor are strictly complied with. After the radio wave effect on the affected area of the tissue, there is no effect from coagulation of the tissues or burn surface.
Many patients are concerned that a large part of the medical measures during erosion can provoke cicatricial stenosis and deformation of the cervix. With radio wave therapy, scar formation does not occur, because the tissue undergoes minimal damage, in which there is no evidence of necrosis and the appearance of a scab. This is what makes it possible to safely conduct radio wave therapy in nulliparous women and patients who in future plan pregnancy.
The only drawback of the radio wave method for cervical erosion is the relatively high cost of the procedure.
As a rule, after the radio wave treatment, the risk of recurrent disease is minimized. The patient should undergo a prophylactic examination by a specialist in six months or a maximum after one year in order to confirm the absence of a relapse. To plan pregnancy the doctor often resolves within a month after the procedure.

Cost of radio wave treatment of cervical erosion
The cost of radio wave treatment of cervical erosion may depend on the characteristics of the clinic, the qualifications of the specialist who will perform the procedure, and the size and complexity of the erosive process. The price of therapy should be specified in the clinic, or at a reception with a specialist.
We present to your attention the average prices in medical institutions in Kiev:
- treatment of cervical erosion up to 4 cm² - 100-120 $
- treatment of cervical erosion up to 4 cm² by a leading specialist in the clinic - $ 150
- consultation specialist obstetrician gynecologist - about 15-20 $
- local anesthesia during the procedure - about $ 20
When choosing a clinic for radio wave treatment of cervical erosion, the following points should be considered:
- the procedure of therapy requires the services of a highly qualified specialist;
- equipment for treatment is not available in all medical institutions.
Reviews about radio wave treatment of cervical erosion
Patients who underwent radio wave treatment of cervical erosion, have a number of advantages of this method compared with other therapies:
- this is the clarity of the effect (during the treatment there is no damage to the healthy tissue);
- absence of bleeding;
- relatively rapid tissue repair;
- absence of scar tissue changes, which makes it possible to plan pregnancy after therapy;
- almost zero risk of post-procedural complications;
- low degree of pain discomfort.
Some women are inclined to consider the lack of discharge within 1-2 weeks, however, the same drawback is also present in the method of cauterization of cervical erosion with nitrogen, and in many other techniques.
Analyzing the reviews, you can make sure that each particular case has its own individual characteristics, so blindly follow the advice of users is not worth it. The correct solution will be a referral to a qualified specialist who will explain the appropriateness and subtleties of therapy precisely in your situation.
Radio wave therapy is carried out, most often, with the help of a specialized apparatus "Surgitron." This device has special electrodes, which create the effect of radio waves, using different modes of action. The most suitable mode is determined by the doctor separately in each case.
At present, we can confidently assert that the radio wave treatment of cervical erosion is a technical and promising method that can help in the elimination of gynecological pathology. And most importantly - it's a modern and safe way to get rid of the disease forever without violating the reproductive function of a woman.
