Pain in the left testicle can occur at any age – be it a man, a child or a teenager.

We often hear girls scolded by their parents: “Don’t sit in the cold – you’ll have children!” or the common phrase “women’s problems.” But we shouldn’t forget that men can also have problems caused by colds, stressful situations, lack of vitamins, unprotected sex, etc., which can lead to any consequences, including impotence and infertility.

And pain in the area of the reproductive endings also occurs not only in women. Urologists note that recently the percentage of complaints about pain in the left testicle has increased significantly.

The testicles, or testes, are the male sex glands. Both testicles, left and right, are located in the male scrotum on both sides, respectively.

The main tasks assigned to the "shoulders" of the testicles are the production of sperm and the formation of testosterone. Pain in the left testicle is one of the most unpleasant, strong and acute pains that a man can feel in his life.

Causes of pain in the left testicle

The most common causes of testicular pain are sexually transmitted infections, chronic prostatitis, epididymitis (an inflammatory process in the left epididymis), various testicular tumors, orchitis (an inflammatory disease of the testicle), inguinal hernia, left testicular trauma, varicocele, testicular torsion, hydrocele, surgical interventions or spermatocele. In these cases, diagnosing pain in the left testicle and identifying its source is not a difficult task for an experienced doctor, but if the disease is ignored for a long time, it can become chronic.

An injured scrotum can become a source of pain in the testicle. Sharp, sudden pain from damage to the testicle by a sharp or cutting object should prompt the victim to immediately seek medical attention, since an untreated, neglected injury can cause infertility or even the loss of the testicle.

Torsion of the left testicle, accompanied by pain, is a rather insidious factor, which, if left untreated, can cause the organ to die. The spermatic cord, on which the left testicle is suspended, is supplied with blood and oxygen. If the cord is twisted by 360°, unbearable pain appears in the left testicle, blood circulation is naturally disrupted, the vas deferens is compressed, the testicle lacks oxygen and vital substances and gradually dies.

Epididymitis is also accompanied by severe, sharp pain in the male genital organ. Usually in this case the testicle is enlarged and very sensitive to touch. Often the causes of this disease are various infections, for example, chlamydia, gonococci, which can also cause urethritis. In addition to pain in the left testicle, a man who has fallen into the "net" of the disease may notice a high body temperature, burning during urination, spontaneous urination. An untreated disease can result in infertility or impotence, so run to the doctor!

Orchitis is a very rare disease, mostly occurring as a consequence of mumps. In addition to the salivary glands, mumps, for reasons still unknown, also affects the testicle. During the disease, this sexual organ increases in size many times over, becomes extremely sensitive, and even a slight touch causes pain in the left testicle. The affected testicle (rarely both) atrophies over a period of time and stops producing healthy spermatozoa.

Another disease that is accompanied by pain in the testicles of a man is varicocele. The disease is quite rare.

Also, pain in the left testicle can be caused by urolithiasis, testicular tumors, and testicular cysts.

Often there are patients complaining of pain in the testicles, seemingly without any apparent reason. However, nothing hurts just like that and in this case there is also a reason. This is a rare sexual act, unsatisfied sexual desire of a man. During sexual arousal, blood accumulates in the genitals, causing them to swell, but if there is no discharge, pain appears in the left testicle. In this and any other situation causing pain in the testicle, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Other Causes of Pain in the Left Testicle

  • Chronic prostatitis. Probably everyone has heard about this disease. There are several types of prostatitis, but it is the chronic types of the disease that are the most difficult to fight, since they penetrate the human body and become part of it. A person suffering from chronic prostatitis often experiences, in addition to physical pain, moral depression, and shame. For a man, not only prostatitis, but also reproductive health in general is of great importance, accordingly, any ailment associated with the genitourinary system is, indeed, a problem that cannot be postponed “for later”;
  • STDs are sexually transmitted diseases. Not just pain in the left testicle, but truly hellish torments can be caused by gonococci, trichomonas, chlamydia, and so on. But, despite the "sharpness of sensations", such diseases are easy to cure at an early stage, the main thing is not to neglect them, since the consequences can be most unpleasant;
  • testicular tumor; testicular torsion; inguinal hernia; varicocele; spermatocele or hydrocele.

Symptoms of pain in the left testicle

Symptoms of pain in the left testicle can be caused by the reasons that we have discussed above. Some inflammatory processes are accompanied by high temperature, tumors, purulent discharge, etc. But, be that as it may, panic, fear, shame in this situation are not the best mental manifestations. And despite the fact that there is a lot of information on the Internet about the symptoms of pain in the left testicle, you will not make an accurate diagnosis in "online mode". And an incorrect medical conclusion is an incorrect treatment, which can further aggravate the situation. Only a professional examination in such cases is the right decision!

Among other things, it is necessary to distinguish between types of pain, which are characterized by individual properties of diseases:

Aching pain in the left testicle

A nagging pain in the left testicle is most often caused by varicose veins or a cyst in this area of the body. Less often, due to the presence of renal pathology, hernial protrusion, oncological pathology. But do not panic ahead of time, because the consequence of such symptoms can be prolonged sexual abstinence or lack of vitamins. Proper nutrition and the necessary amount of vitamins can not only prolong, but also improve men's health. To do all this, it is not at all necessary to resort to expensive drugs, because there is such a thing as folk wisdom.

Regime and diet.

  • regular sex,
  • sport,
  • balanced diet.

We won’t give you any hints regarding the first point; you know what’s what.

On the second question - physical exercises. Physical education helps improve blood circulation in the pelvic area (which often affects a man's potency and his health). So, just 10 minutes a day can radically change your life.

Exercise one: regular squat. You can start with the minimum, but later the number of squats should increase (but without fanaticism!).

The next exercise: lying on your back, hands behind your head, lift your legs up. The main thing in this process is not to make quick and sharp movements, legs should be lifted slowly. About 10 times of such procedures at the initial stage will be enough.

And last but not least, exercise: lying on your stomach, lift your legs one by one (left then right) so that the foot moves towards the head.

As for nutrition and vitamins, there is nothing complicated at all. Eliminate spicy, fatty and heavy food. Fermented milk products and glucose have a positive effect not only on the health of the testicles, but also on sexual activity in general. Despite the fact that vegetables, fruits (especially apples, cabbage, carrots) contain a large number of vitamins necessary for a man's health, you should not give up fish and meat. The lack of animal proteins can also cause unpleasant sensations in the area of the right and left testicle.

A balanced diet is useful not only for the presence of a nagging pain in the left testicle, but also for other symptoms. But we have specifically covered physical exercises in this part of the article, since with a nagging, strong and sharp pain in the left testicle, you should initially eliminate the pain and undergo a course of treatment, and then resort to physical exercise.

Aching pain in the left testicle

Aching pain in the left testicle is one of the most dangerous pains. Why? In case of acute sharp pain, a person immediately goes to the doctor, because it is impossible to tolerate such sensations. But aching unpleasant pain can be endured. This pain can be compared to a toothache. In both cases, the malaise is caused by an inflammatory process, and, as a rule, the patient neglects the decision to visit the doctor. And such an action causes severe, sharp pain. You cannot bring your body to such a state, because aching pain is just a warning, the cause of which can be any ailment, which can be followed by any consequences!

Severe pain in the left testicle

Severe pain in the left testicle is typical when receiving an injury. If there was no injury, then this is a signal to "immediately see a doctor". It is clear that the pain itself does not come, and naturally, does not go away. In addition to the fact that the patient in this situation cannot lead a normal life, since severe pain can break any person, it can also be the cause of a serious disease, which we discussed above. It is quite possible that with such symptoms, urgent surgical intervention will be needed. Just do not be afraid of the word "surgical" - now everything happens quickly and painlessly.

Sharp pain in the left testicle

Again, it can occur due to mechanical impact, i.e. a blow or other injury. The most dangerous types of injuries are stabbing and cutting. In such situations, tissue necrosis can occur, which can lead to amputation of the testicle. In order to avoid such a consequence, immediate hospitalization is required. In addition to this reason, there are other factors (discussed above) that can cause severe pain. Here are also venereal, viral, oncological diseases. Such pain can be caused by inflammation received during hypothermia of the body (bathing in cold water), a person's prolonged stay in an unheated room, "don't sit on the cold," and so on.

It is impossible to say exactly what can cause any kind of pain in the left testicle, based only on the description of the disease.

Who to contact?

What to do if your left testicle hurts?

At the present stage of medical development, diagnostics of pain in the left testicle is absolutely painless - ultrasound examination. With the help of a computer installation, the doctor can see even seemingly impossible things. Of course, viral diseases and bacteria are determined by a blood test. If we talk specifically about ultrasound examination, the result is visible immediately. In addition, extended ultrasound analyzes not only the painful area, but also the points of possible cause of pain, that is, the entire genitourinary system. There are no contraindications for this process.

Only after a complete examination does the doctor prescribe medication, physical therapy and, if necessary, surgical treatment.

Treatment for pain in the left testicle

The pain itself is relieved with painkillers, but one should not forget about individual tolerance of drugs (allergic reaction and the like). And the disease itself that caused the pain should be treated.

If the pain is caused by gonorrhea, then you can't do without antibiotics. As a rule, the medication prescription looks like this:

  1. Penicillin is recommended to be used in the following doses:
    • 800000 – 1000000 UNITS.
    • 1,500,000 – 3,500,000 IU, if urethritis is sluggish.
    • up to 200,000 IU every 3-4 hours, 300,000 IU every 6 hours (0.5% novocaine solution) – for injections.
    • single administration of the entire course dose of 800,000 IU, if the patient has acute gonorrheal urethritis. For this injection, penicillin is diluted with 5 ml of autologous blood.

A single injection is a one-time treatment used by patients who are unable to visit a doctor again.

  1. Ecmonovocillin is prescribed in case of acute gonorrheal urethritis: 600,000 IU every 10-12 hours. In a situation with a single use - 1,200,000 IU.

When it comes to precautions, it is important to remember that overdose can cause side effects.

If the patient has no opportunity to go to the hospital at all, then the course of treatment can be done at home. But the injections must be given by a person with medical education. And today a nurse can be invited to the house.

Folk remedies for pain in the left testicle

In the old days, when medicine had not yet reached the heights that modern society can boast of, grandmothers-healers treated men in the following ways:

  • Thyme flowers (50 g) were mixed with peppermint leaves (50 g) + rosemary (the stem itself 30 g) + yarrow (20). All these ingredients were crushed and mixed well. Since the finished product cannot be stored for a long time, it should be infused only for a single dose. For one dose, 1 teaspoon of crushed herbs infused in 1 liter of boiling water for 15 minutes is enough. For final preparation, the "potion" is filtered and cooled at room temperature. Drink this remedy warm after meals. Do not forget that this is not tea, so it is not recommended to add sugar.
  • Oregano (30 g) and calendula flowers (15 g) are poured with boiling water (1 l) and infused in a thermos for 8 hours. Dose: drink 100 ml of the mixture after meals 3 times a day.

Walnuts and dried fruits contain vitamins that have a positive effect not only on the genitals, but also on the brain. Dried fruit compote can also be considered a folk method for prolonging men's health, but this method is considered preventive.

Prevention of pain in the left testicle

It is much easier and cheaper to prevent a disease than to cure it. And for this, it is necessary, at a minimum, to undergo regular medical examinations. As for lifestyle, having sex is normal, but if you do not have a regular partner, you cannot neglect condoms. Abstinence (long-term) can have a detrimental effect on the reproductive system of an adult, and even cause pain in the right and left testicle. Sports and the absence of alcohol have a significant positive effect on a man's health. Vitamins such as A, B, C, E, D, iodine, calcium, potassium, iron, folic acid are necessary for a man to live a normal, full life.

The most important thing is that if you have the slightest suspicion of any disease, you should not look for an answer on the Internet, but from a doctor.
