The area of the nose includes the outer nose and the nasal cavity.
The external nose (nasus externus) consists of the root, back, apex and wings of the nose. The root of the nose (radix nasi) is located in the upper part of the face, separating from the forehead with a notch - a transference. The lateral sections of the external nose along the median line connects the dorsum of the nose (dorsum nasi), terminating at the front with the apex. The lower part of the lateral sections forms the wings of the nose (alae nasi), bounding the nostrils - the air holes. The nares (nares) along the median line are separated by the membranous part of the nasal septum. The root of the nose, the upper part of the back of the outer nose, have a bone base, formed by the nasal bones and frontal processes of the upper jaw. The middle part of the back and the lateral part of the outer nose as a base have a triangular paired lateral cartilage of the nose (cartilago nasi lateralis), which on the median line connects to the same cartilage of the opposite side. The book from the lateral cartilage is a large cartilago alaris major (cartilago alaris major), which at the front and side limits the nostril of the corresponding side. Small cartilagines of alares minores in the amount of 2-3 on each side are located behind the large cartilage of the wing of the nose, between it and the edge of the pear-shaped hole. Between the lateral cartilage and the large cartilage of the wing of the nose, several differently sized additional nasal cartilages (cortilagines nasales accessoriae) are often found.
The cartilago septi nasi (cartilago septi nasi) is adjacent to the inner surface of the dorsum of the nose. It is unpaired, has an irregular quadrangular shape. The cartilage of the nasal septum is connected to the perpendicular plate of the latticed bone behind and above, and from the rear and from below with the vomer and the anterior nose. Between the lower edge of the cartilage of the septum of the nose and the front edge of the opener is a narrow vomer-nasal cartilage (cartilago vomeronasalis). Cartilages of the nose, covered with perichondrium, are connected together by structures with a connective tissue.
