In Latin, "angina" means to squeeze, choke, which is consistent with her symptoms. In medical terminology, the disease is called acute tonsillitis. Most often it is caused by streptococci and staphylococci. It makes itself felt by severe pain in the throat, both during swallowing and during a conversation, by high fever, chills, joint aches, general weakness, headache. Symptoms of angina are similar to those of a viral infection, but its course is much harder. Palatine tonsils increase in size, become inflamed, they appear abscesses. Angina requires a rapid response, without a doctor in this case can not do. Before he comes, the patient needs to go to bed, take a febrifuge, gargle with antiseptic solutions. The doctor will prescribe a comprehensive treatment of the disease, including antibiotics. And whether it is possible to do or make inhalations at an angina?
Indications for the procedure
The main treatment of angina is antibacterial therapy, abundant warm drink. In the first days of the disease at high temperatures, bed rest, antipyretic and analgesic preparations are shown. Food should be sparing for inflamed tonsils: broths, purees, liquid soups. Auxiliary methods of treatment of tonsillitis are called rinsings and inhalations, against their background the state of health improves, it becomes easier to swallow. Indications for inhalation are inflammation of the components of the lymphatic pharyngeal ring, including palatine tonsils, in the absence of factors that prohibit this procedure. Inhalations can reduce the duration of the acute phase, reduce the dose of antibiotics taken, soften the symptoms of the disease, prevent complications.
Preparation
To inhalations, as a method of treatment with the help of inhalation of vapors resorted from ancient times, using various herbs, leaves and rhizomes of trees, fruits, salt. They did this over a container with hot water, in which the therapeutic additive was lowered, tightly wrapped, inhaling steam. At the present stage, inhalations are considered as a way to efficiently and quickly deliver the necessary medicines to a target with the smallest particles of steam and even smoke or gas. For this purpose, special devices have been invented that help to do this. Preparation for inhalation consists in measuring the body temperature (above the 37.5º procedure is not carried out), you can take food the day before for an hour and a half, physical exemptions are excluded, although the last warning is unnecessary, because feeling with angina is unlikely to allow them to perform. It is also necessary to prepare a medicine for inhalation prescribed by a doctor, a solvent, if necessary, an inhaler.
Technique of the inhalations with angina
The technique of inhalation is different from the simplest - to breathe over the mouth with a mouth, covered with a towel, before using inhalers and special devices - nebulizers. Naturally, it is most convenient to use the devices intended for this. For inhalation with angina in adults, fit any existing, but for children it is safest to use a nebulizer, they can treat even babies. Until six months of age this procedure should be done only under the supervision of specialists, for older age it is important not to exceed its duration - not more than 5 minutes, use gentle solutions: mineral water, tinctures of eucalyptus, calendula, medicinal preparations.
Inhalation with purulent sore throat
Inhalation with purulent sore throat is not carried out. As with any abscess, the tonsils on the tonsils can not be affected by heat, this is fraught with their breakthrough and the entry of purulent contents into the bloodstream, which will cause inflammation in other parts of the body. It is best in this situation to use antibacterial agents and until the temperature goes down and the abscesses disappear, do not resort to a procedure.
Inhalation with angina nebulizer
Nebulizer - an instrument by which anti-inflammatory drugs in the form of the smallest particles obtained by spraying the liquid to the aerosol state, fall precisely into the pathological focus. To get a burn using a nebulizer is impossible, because it does not heat the contents and, according to the instruction, it uses room temperature preparations. The duration of the procedure is up to 10 minutes, the number of sessions varies from 2 to 6, depending on the medicine. For inhalations with angina nebulizer only liquid forms are used, diluted with saline or water for injection, but not with simple water. For oil and herbal inhalations, the apparatus can not be used. All the prepared solutions can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than a day, and then preheated to room temperature before use, some are suitable only freshly prepared.
Preparations for inhalations with angina nebulizer
Consider what preparations are used for inhalations with angina nebulizer:
- saline solution - has the same effect as the mineral waters "Narzan", "Essentuki": the edema of the pharynx decreases, the pain effect, the microdamages of the mucous throat are healed;
- miramistin - has a high antiseptic potential, heals inflamed mucous membranes, increases local immunity, prevents the spread of infection; for adults, the necessary single dose is 3-5ml, dilution with saline is not required, the children are diluted in a ratio of 1: 1;
- lazolvanom - in case of accumulation in the throat, mucus can be added to the inhalation solution, its active substance ambroxol reduces the viscosity of the sputum, promotes secretion;
- berodual - the drug is considered effective in diseases of the respiratory system, it expands the bronchi, removes asthmatic spasm; with angina inflammatory focus can spread from the tonsils to the larynx mucosa, causing her edema and stenosis. This development of the disease is life-threatening, it is necessary to consult a doctor for help, but before his arrival it is necessary to reduce the edema. In this case, it is appropriate to use inhalation with berodual to relieve spasm. For its preparation, 1ml (20 drops) of the solution, connected with 3-4ml of saline solution, is enough. Only freshly prepared solution is used. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 8ml;
- chlorhexidine - used for inhalations as an antiseptic, fighting with pathogenic microflora of various origins: viral, fungal, bacterial. The basis for the preparation of inhalation material is saline solution. The bacteriostatic effect of the drug is provided by any concentration, for the death of microorganisms 0.01% with the duration of the procedure of 1 minute will be required, the fungi will die at 0.05% of the composition and 10 minutes of inhalation, the virus content can be destroyed by the substance content in the range of 0.01-1%;
- furatsilinom - in pharmacies you can buy ready-to-use liquid, one inhalation will need 4ml (you can have 2 procedures a day). Another option is to dissolve the tablet in 100 ml of saline solution;
- dioxin - a disinfectant of a wide spectrum of action. There is a 1% preparation (diluted in a 1: 4 ratio) and 0.5% (1: 2 concentration). The recommended frequency is 2 procedures per day;
- lugol - its antiseptic characteristics are based on the properties of the active substance in its composition - iodine. It is most often used to lubricate the larynx surface, exists as a spray, which is very convenient. As a material for inhalation can also be used (15-20ml per 100ml of saline or 1: 5);
- antibiotics - add as a medicament for inhalation. At the beginning of treatment, penicillin-type drugs or macrolides are used. In the absence of a reaction, they resort to stronger ones - fluoroquinolones or cephalosporins. In their list can be: tetracycline, erythromycin, amoxicillin, cephalexin, ampicillin, fluimucil, etc. The main thing is not to self-medicate, but to follow the prescriptions of the doctor.
All the listed solutions for inhalations with angina can be used if the house has a nebulizer, but its absence is not a reason to refuse such an effective procedure.
Inhalation with angina at home
At home, with angina, steam inhalations are made. They can be carried out over a tank where hot water is poured with the addition of medical components, a kettle is also used, it is convenient to breathe through its spout, and it is best to buy a special ceramic inhaler. As a remedy used baking soda, iodine (a few drops), decoctions of medicinal plants: calendula, chamomile, sage, eucalyptus. You can use chlorhexidine, phytochemicals rotokan, tonsilgon H, chlorophyllipt. "Works" and the grandfather's method - inhalation of potatoes. For the procedure boiled potatoes in a uniform, a little warm up and you can breathe, covered with a towel.
Oil for inhalation with angina
Known for their medicinal properties are essential oils due to their antimicrobial, healing, antispasmodic, sedative properties. More often for inhalations with angina tea tree oil, sea-buckthorn, fir, olive, menthol, dog-rose, peach are used. Carrying out the procedure is important not to overdo it with oils and cool the boiling water to a temperature no higher than 65º, otherwise a burn of the mucous larynx may occur and the pathology will worsen. You can use these recipes:
- for 0,5 l water pour 3 tablespoons sea buckthorn oil, breathe 10 minutes;
- for 1 liter - 3 drops of fir, the duration of the procedure is up to 15 minutes;
- per liter - 3 drops of tea tree oil, inhale up to 7 minutes; phytopreparation can be used for cold inhalation, dropping 6 drops on a bandage or other rag and inhaling the aroma for half an hour.
Contraindications to the procedure
At first glance, such an inoffensive procedure as inhalation has a lot of contraindications:
- increased body temperature;
- purulent sore throat;
- propensity to nosebleeds;
- high blood pressure;
- individual intolerance of the drugs used;
- neoplasm of nasopharynx and respiratory tract;
- heart failure and arrhythmia;
- lung diseases: bullous emphysema, spontaneous or traumatic pneumothorax.
Complications after the procedure
Complications after the procedure are possible if it was carried out in the presence of abscesses on the tonsils - the pathological focus can spread further to the larynx and upper respiratory tract. There is a possibility of an increase in cervical, submandibular and parotid lymph nodes.
Reviews
In reviews of inhalations with angina, positive comments predominate, but it is emphasized that the method is effective in combination with antibiotic treatment. Healing pairs or microscopic particles of aerosols soften the surface of the throat, reduce pain when swallowing, facilitate the course of the disease. Women with children talk about the need to have a nebulizer in the house, because with its help the procedure becomes safe and even antibiotic therapy is eased - their effect is directed to a limited target and does not extend to the entire body.
