Causes of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin
There are many reasons for this disease, but the most common are:
- Malignant tumors;
- Bacterial infections (staphylococcus, streptococcus, tuberculosis, cat scratch disease);
- Viral infections (herpes, measles, rubella);
- Fungal infections (candida);
- Sarcoidosis;
- Graft rejection;
- Injuries in the groin;
- Venereal diseases (syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia).
If swelling and pain occur suddenly, it is due to infection or trauma. On the other hand, if they become inflamed gradually, this may be a sign of a tumor or malignant neoplasms.
Symptoms of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin
Inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin is accompanied by symptoms such as: redness in the area of inflammation, pain when pressing the lymph node, swelling and tightening of the lymph nodes in the groin, pain and discomfort in the lower abdomen during movement. With a superficial lesion, the inflammation manifests itself by a local increase in temperature. With purulent inflammation, the patient's condition worsens and is accompanied by intoxication syndrome (subfebrile, chills, headache, general weakness), inflammatory changes in the blood (leukocytosis, increase in SHOE).
With cancer, enlarged lymph nodes remain painless for a long time, so the diagnosis of cancer is put on the last stages, which greatly aggravates the treatment of such patients.
In venereal diseases, the clinical picture is not as pronounced as in oncological and purulent diseases, and is characterized by local lymphadenitis.

Diagnosis of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin
Diagnosis of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin primarily begins with the examination of the patient, the collection of complaints. The examination consists of palpation of the lymph nodes, with inflammation they will be swollen and compacted, painful when pressed, the skin above them will be reddish. Normally, lymph nodes are the size of a pea, not compacted, painless.
Also, in the diagnosis use laboratory methods of research to identify inflammation - this is a general blood test (leukocytosis, accelerated SHOE), blood biochemistry (C-reactive protein).
If the diagnosis is difficult, then use additional methods of examination, such as CT, MRI, ultrasound of the abdominal cavity. If there is a suspicion of tuberculosis, chest X-rays are taken.
A biopsy is used when a malignant process is suspected.

Treatment of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin
What to do in case of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin?
First you need to see a doctor. After all, this is not an independent process, but most often a symptom of another disease.
Of course, inflammation of the lymph nodes as an independent form has the right to exist, but only as a complication of primary foci, such as furuncle, abscess and others.
Inflammation of lymph nodes is treated by two methods - conservatively and surgically.
In the early stages, a conservative method of treatment with medications such as:
- broad-spectrum antibiotics (amoxicillin for adults, single dose 250-500 mg, with severe course up to 1 g.) Interval between doses: 8 hours. Do not use if there is an allergy, infectious mononucleosis. Obligatory consultation of the doctor.
- Ointments with antibacterial and antiseptic properties - this Levomekol is used topically, a sterile gauze dressing with ointment is applied to the affected area, it is impossible to use if there is an allergy to the components of this ointment in purulent processes. Ointment Vishnevsky applied externally, the affected area is applied a thin layer. With prolonged use, an allergic reaction is possible.
- Physiotherapy with anti-inflammatory effect using electrophoresis with antibiotics and sulfonamides. It can be used only in the initial period of inflammation, with purulent processes categorically prohibited.
The surgical method of treatment is used in situations in which inflammation passes into a purulent process. This method is based on the cross section and isolation of pus by drainage.
At home, inflammation of the lymph nodes can be treated by alternative methods, some recipes are provided below:
- Treatment with the help of nettle
Has anti-inflammatory properties. 1 tbsp. Brewed in a glass of boiling water, after which the broth should be infused for half an hour. After percolation, use half a glass before eating.

Prevention of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin
Prevention of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin is to prevent
Infection of wounds with the help of antiseptics (iodine, brilliant green, hydrogen peroxide, etc.) in the treatment of diseases and primary foci (abscesses, furuncles and others).
Prognosis of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin
The prognosis in the early stages of inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin and adequate treatment is favorable. In destructive forms, the lymphatic tissue is destroyed and replaced by a connective tissue. If the inflammation is not treated, it can lead to the development of lymphostasis and lymphedema.
