Diseases of the nervous system (neurology)

Tumors of the brain

Tumors of the brain are, according to various data, 2-8.6% of the total number of all human tumors. Among the organic diseases of the CNS, 4.2-4.4% occur on the tumor. The number of newly diagnosed CNS tumors annually increases by 1 - 2%. At an atom in adults, the mortality rate due to a brain tumor ranks 3-5 among all causes of death.

Arterial aneurysms of cerebral vessels

Aneurysm - a local dilatation of the artery lumen as a result of changes or damage to its walls. Most often, brain aneurysms are a disease of the arterial tees of the Willis polygon.

Arteriovenous malformation

Arteriovenous malformation is a congenital defect in vascular development, which is characterized by the presence of an abnormal network of arteriovenous anastomoses. Most often arteriovenous malformation is located in the region of the posterior cranial fossa and have a fairly typical structure - one or two real arteries, a tangle of LVM and one draining vein.

Osteochondrosis

Osteochondrosis (osteochondrosis) is a degenerative-dystrophic disease that includes a complex of changes in the intervertebral disc and surrounding tissues and is manifested by polymorphic neurologic syndromes. Osteochondrosis is the cause of back pain in 80% of cases.

Tumors of the spinal cord

Tumors of the spinal cord constitute 10-15% of all tumors of the central nervous system and are equally common in men and women aged 20 to 60 years.

Meningioma

Meningioma - benign tumors of the meninges, capable of squeezing the adjacent brain tissue. Symptoms of a meningioma depend on the location of the tumor.

Gliomas

Gliomas are primary tumors that develop from the parenchyma of the brain. Symptoms and diagnosis - as with other brain tumors. Treatment is surgical, radiological, for some tumors chemotherapeutic. Excision rarely leads to a cure.

Cervical spondylosis

Cervical spondylosis - osteoarthrosis of the cervical spine - leads to stenosis of the canal, and with the growth of bone tissue (osteophytes) at the lower level of the cervical spine - to cervical myelopathy, sometimes involving the lower cervical nerve roots (radiculomyelopathy).

Tropical Spastic Paraparesis

Tropical spastic paraparesis is a slowly progressing viral immuno-mediated spinal cord injury caused by human T-lymphocyte virus type 1 (HTLV-1).

Compression of the spinal cord

Various causes lead to compression of the spinal cord, causing segmental sensory and motor deficits, changes in reflexes and disruption of sphincters. The diagnosis is confirmed on an MRI. The treatment is aimed at eliminating the compression.
