Diseases of the liver and biliary tract

Liver granuloma

Liver granulomas can be caused by various causes and usually occur asymptomatically. However, diseases that cause granuloma formation may be accompanied by extrahepatic symptoms and / or lead to liver inflammation, fibrosis and portal hypertension.

Primary cancers of the liver: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Fibrolamellar carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, hepatoblastoma and angiosarcoma are rare. To confirm the diagnosis, usually a biopsy is required. The prognosis is usually unfavorable.

Primary liver cancer

Primary liver cancer is usually a hepatocellular carcinoma. In most cases of liver cancer, nonspecific symptoms are observed, this delays timely diagnosis. The prognosis is usually unfavorable.

Benign tumors of the liver: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Benign liver tumors occur quite often. As a rule, they are asymptomatic, but in some cases they cause hepatomegaly, discomfort in the right upper quadrant or abdominal hemorrhage.

Hepatic Peliolium: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment

Hepatic periosis is the most commonly asymptomatic disease in which multiple, blood-filled cystic cavities are randomly produced in the liver.

Portal portal thrombosis: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Thrombosis of the portal vein leads to portal hypertension and subsequently to gastrointestinal bleeding. Diagnosis is based on ultrasound. The treatment is mainly directed to the control and prevention of gastrointestinal bleeding (usually endoscopy or intravenous octreotide), sometimes vascular bypass or b-blockers; with acute thrombosis, thrombolysis is possible.

Veno-occlusive liver disease: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Venousocclusion disease of the liver (sinusoidal occlusive syndrome) is caused by obstruction of terminal hepatic venules and sinusoids of the liver, rather than hepatic veins or inferior vena cava.

Badda-Chiari Syndrome: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment

Badda-Chiari syndrome is an occlusion with a violation of venous outflow from the hepatic veins, which can be localized at the level from the right atrium to small branches of the hepatic veins.

Ischemic cholangiopathy

Ischemic cholangiopathy is a focal ischemia of the biliary tree of any etiology in which the peribiliary arterial plexus is destroyed.

Liver infarction: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

A liver infarct is a focal hepatocellular necrosis resulting from focal ischemia of the liver of any etiology.
