Today, diseases of the lower and upper respiratory tract are becoming more common, both among children and adults. They are a serious problem, since they are difficult to treat and often cause complications and relapses. Diseases are quite common, especially in the spring and autumn, when they become epidemic. Almost all respiratory diseases, regardless of their etiology, are accompanied by a strong cough, burning and sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose, conjunctivitis, headaches, intoxication, general deterioration in condition and decreased performance, weakness. Inhalations can be used as an additional treatment that alleviates the patient's condition and promotes a speedy recovery. Currently, decasan is often prescribed for inhalations.
Indications for the procedure
Dekasan for inhalation is indicated for both dry and wet cough, runny nose, colds of bacterial and viral etiology. The drug has an antiseptic effect, reduces the inflammatory and infectious process. They relieve pain and inflammation, eliminate sore throat, swelling, congestion. Inhalations with Dekasan will help eliminate irritation of the respiratory tract, help alleviate the condition, and remove phlegm. Removal of phlegm plays an important role in the treatment of inflammatory and infectious diseases of the respiratory tract, since it is where the main pathogenic microflora accumulates. If phlegm is not removed, it accumulates in the respiratory tract. Gradually, the alveoli and bronchioles become clogged, undergo spasm, the cells begin to collapse, stick together, and cease to perform their function. This is how bronchospasms occur, blockage of the respiratory tract, and breathing becomes difficult.
Accordingly, gas exchange is hampered, the removal of by-products and gases occurs at a reduced rate. The level of hypoxia and hypercapnia in the blood increases. The accumulation of toxic gases and metabolites leads to the fact that the symptoms of intoxication gradually increase. In this case, the condition worsens, local body temperature often increases, edema develops, and mucus outflow is disrupted.
Dekasan promotes the removal of sputum, frees the respiratory tract from mucus, pathogenic microflora, promotes the renewal of mucous membranes. It reduces swelling and spasm, and also reduces the level of autointoxication and bacterial and viral intoxication by reducing the release of exometabolites by the cells of microorganisms.
With a wet cough, Dekasan for inhalation helps to speed up the process of sputum removal, normalizes microflora, relieves swelling and inflammation. With a dry cough, inhalations using Dekasan dissolve sputum and promote its removal. They also help to relax the smooth muscle layers of the bronchi, relieve spasms. The drug enhances the cough reflex, due to which the dissolved sputum is removed. As a rule, Dekasan for inhalation helps to remove sputum and toxins, converting the cough into a productive form (into a wet cough), and this is considered a positive sign, since sputum is removed with a wet cough, recovery occurs faster.
Dekasan is used mainly in therapy, phthisiology, pulmonology, pediatrics. It is an antiseptic drug aimed at destroying pathogenic microflora and eliminating the infectious process. [ 1 ] The main indication for inhalation with dekasan is colds, infectious and inflammatory processes of any etiology (viral, bacterial, chlamydial, recertified, diphtheria, [ 2 ] parasitic). Inhalations are prescribed for diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by cough, runny nose. Local use of decamethoxin as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drug in the complex treatment of chronic purulent bronchitis has proven to be highly effective. [ 3 ] Prescribed for acute respiratory infections, acute respiratory viral infections, bacterial, viral, combined infections, chlamydia, mononucleosis. Inhalations are used for tonsillitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy, rhinitis, sinusitis, maxillary sinusitis, rhinosinusitis, frontal sinusitis, otitis and tubootitis. Prescribed both as a therapeutic and as a preventive measure, especially during the season of epidemics and flu.
Inhalations with decasan alleviate the condition in chronic and acute respiratory diseases, can be an auxiliary means in the treatment of chronic, recurrent, sluggish allergic, inflammatory processes accompanied by edema, hyperemia, increased sensitization.
The drug is often prescribed to patients for preventive purposes, especially to dispensary patients who are registered for chronic forms of respiratory diseases. The drug is often used to normalize microflora, restore colonization resistance of mucous membranes, their renewal and regeneration. Inhalations with decasan normalize microflora, water-salt balance, mucociliary clearance of mucous membranes. All this is an important component of the body's non-specific resistance system, local immunity, which protects the body from many infectious diseases. This property is especially important during the period of recovery of the respiratory tract after inflammatory and infectious diseases. Therefore, decasan in the form of inhalations is often prescribed after the acute phase of the disease has passed. Inhalations are carried out for some time after recovery in order to restore the normal natural state of the mucous membranes. Normalization of local immunity significantly increases the body's ability to naturally resist infections, increases resistance and endurance, stimulates local and systemic immunity, and reduces the incidence of disease.
Inhalations with decasan for a runny nose
The drug is intended for the treatment of diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract, so inhalations with Decasan are often prescribed for a runny nose. A runny nose does not appear on its own, it is one of the symptoms of an upper respiratory tract disease. A runny nose is an accumulation of mucus, dead microorganisms, spent leukocytes, macrophages, and other immune cells. A runny nose appears with all forms of bacterial and viral diseases of the respiratory tract, with acute respiratory infections, acute respiratory viral infections, tonsillitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, rhinitis, sinusitis, sinusitis. Inhalations are one of the most rational treatments, since they have a long-term effect on the body, are relatively safe, have a minimum of side effects and contraindications, are effective in restoring mucous membranes, eliminating inflammatory and infectious processes.
Inhalations with decasan are most effective for rhinitis, which occurs with diseases of bacterial and viral genesis. This is due to the fact that the drug has an antiseptic effect, normalizes microflora, water-salt balance. This not only eliminates the infection, but also significantly increases the body's ability to naturally resist infections, increases resistance and endurance.
Preparation
Preparation for the procedure depends on the method of inhalation chosen. Today, inhalations are most often practiced using a nebulizer, since this is the simplest and most effective method. The drug is intended for such inhalations, so it is released in the form of nebulas. If inhalations are carried out with a nebulizer, preparation consists only of assembling the device and correctly filling it with the drug. When preparing for the procedure, you should carefully study the instructions, which provide a step-by-step algorithm for assembling the nebulizer, as well as a method for diluting the drug.
Decasan nebules for inhalation
The easiest and most convenient way to perform inhalations is with a nebulizer. It is prescribed to adults and children. The essence of the procedure is to assemble the device for inhalations, fill it with a previously prepared product. The product must be diluted in the required dosage recommended by the doctor. Adults do not need to dilute the drug. As a rule, before performing inhalation, you need to open the package, take out special nebulas of Decasan for inhalation, prepare the inhaler in accordance with the instructions, and begin the procedure, the duration of which is on average 6 minutes. Usually, nebulas contain 20 ml of solution.
Technique Decasan for inhalation for children and adults
Usually, the technique of inhalation with decasan is explained in detail by a doctor or nurse. The first time, the patient is even shown how to inhale correctly. In fact, the technique is simple: you need to assemble the nebulizer, add the medicine in the prescribed concentration, and begin the procedure. You can take deep breaths through your mouth and exhale through your nose. You can do the opposite, inhale the drug through your nose (alternately through each nostril), and exhale through your mouth. In some cases, the drug is not exhaled. It settles on the mucous membranes and has a therapeutic effect. The essence of the nebulizer is that it turns the medicine into a finely dispersed suspension, which the patient inhales.
How to dilute decasan for inhalation, dosage
Each individual case is strictly individual, so the doctor will tell you how to dilute decasan for inhalation. The dosage depends on many factors: the patient's age, the disease, the severity of his condition, the characteristics of the pathological process, the presence or absence of complications, the duration of the disease and the duration of therapy.
Usually one nebula contains 20 ml of solution. Adults are prescribed inhalations twice a day. In this case, 10 ml of the drug should be used for one inhalation. Adults are usually prescribed the drug in pure form, without dilution. For children, the drug must be diluted in various concentrations with saline. Children aged 6 to 12 years are usually diluted in a ratio of 1:1, aged 3 to 6 years - in a proportion of 1:2, where 1 part is decasan, 2 parts are saline. Children under 3 years are usually not prescribed such inhalations, since their mucous membranes are extremely sensitive, many side effects occur, children do not know how to use the device. Sometimes children are advised to rinse their mouth with boiled water after the procedure.
Dekasan in the nose
Dekasan is prescribed in the nose for various pathologies of ENT organs, diseases of the nose. The main indication is infectious and inflammatory diseases of the nose, rhinitis. The drug is available in the form of a solution, which can be used both in the form of drops and inhalations. The method of treatment and dosage should be prescribed by a doctor, since it depends on many factors, as well as on the characteristics of the course of the disease, individual characteristics of the patient. Before the appointment, a preliminary examination is required.
When instilled into the nose, Dekasan has a vasodilatory effect, eliminates swelling of the mucous membranes, hyperemia, nasal congestion, improves the general condition of the mucous membranes and walls of the respiratory tract. In most cases, 1-3 drops are prescribed in the nose (in each nostril). It is used in the treatment of nasal diseases, to restore microflora, mucous membranes, after inflammatory diseases of the nasopharynx and pharynx.
Decasan for inhalation with a nebulizer
Currently, in otolaryngology and pediatric therapy, decasan is increasingly prescribed for inhalation with a nebulizer. This is one of the most convenient and effective ways to use the drug. The method is intended to treat diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract. Therefore, most often this method of treatment is applicable for the treatment of acute respiratory infections, acute respiratory viral infections, with tonsillitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, pneumonia. It is prescribed both as a therapeutic and as a preventive agent, as the main and auxiliary agent in the treatment of diseases of the ear, throat, nose. It is also used to moisturize the mucous membranes, normalize their microflora, with reduced adaptive and compensatory capabilities. It is most effective for diseases of bacterial and viral genesis. It is also used for acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract, indicated for the relief of foci of infection, the prevention of relapses and complications.
Dekasan inhalation for adults
Inhalations of Dekasan are often prescribed to adults at various stages of treatment of inflammatory, infectious diseases of the respiratory tract. It can be used both as an independent remedy in the form of monotherapy, and as an auxiliary agent included in the composition of complex therapy. The main effect is antiseptic, aimed at destroying pathogenic microflora and eliminating the infectious process. Due to the fact that the drug increases local immunity, normalizes the condition of the mucous membranes, local microflora, it can also be used to prevent diseases of the respiratory tract, especially during the epidemic season, as well as to restore the body, respiratory tract after diseases. In some clinical studies, it was shown that against the background of its use, the risk of developing allergic and atopic reactions decreases. Adults, as a rule, are prescribed the drug in pure form, without dilution. The nebula contains 20 ml of the drug. One inhalation usually requires 10 ml. From 1 to 3 inhalations are prescribed per day.
Dekasan for inhalation for children
When using Dekasan for inhalation, children recover much faster, cough, inflammation, redness of the skin and mucous membranes are significantly reduced. Dekasan has unique properties in restoring the normal condition of the throat, mucous membranes. It is prescribed both for acute forms of the disease and in the presence of chronic foci of infection.
Helps with various forms of angina, tonsillitis (catarrhal, follicular, lacunar, fibrinous). Indicated for the elimination of symptoms of sinusitis, sinusitis, rhinosinusitis, for the treatment of adenoids, reducing the size of adenoid growth and the frequency of their exacerbation.
Derinat is often included in the course of treatment for children of various pathologies: bronchitis, pneumonia, chronic and obstructive bronchopulmonary pathologies. Sometimes it is useful for stopping attacks of the asthmatic component, as it helps to eliminate spasms, reduce the level of bacterial contamination.
For children, it is recommended to dilute the drug 1-2 times with saline. It should not be used in pure form, since children have highly sensitive mucous membranes, and the use of pure drug can cause a chemical burn.
Decasan for inhalation during pregnancy
During pregnancy, Dekasan is used for inhalation, and this is one of the few drugs that can be used in this condition. It does not have a teratogenic effect on the fetus. Moreover, it does not penetrate the placental barrier, it has a purely local effect. Dekasan is produced in a form that allows for inhalation if there is a nebulizer at home: the medicine is poured directly into it, the device is assembled, closed and the procedure is carried out. Inhalation is done through the mouth, exhalation through the nose, and vice versa (no more than 15 minutes).
Due to this, it is possible to provide therapeutic and preventive effects on the mucous membranes of the throat, nose, upper and lower respiratory tract during the development of various inflammatory and infectious diseases.
In addition to treatment, it is used to increase the body's resistance, improve its adaptive capabilities, prevent diseases during epidemic seasons, and prevent complications and relapses. If in the early stages a woman feels mild signs of a runny nose, a violation of the normal state of the mucous membranes, decasan can also be recommended. It will help the body, in particular, the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, quickly and painlessly adapt to new conditions, increase compensatory, adaptive capabilities.
Dekasan can also be useful due to the fact that immunity decreases sharply during pregnancy. Therefore, various diseases develop at this time, chronic and latent diseases become aggravated, and latent and persistent infections are activated.
In the first trimester, any form of decasan can be used. It effectively eliminates sore throat, nasal congestion, promotes accelerated recovery, adaptation, reduction of pathogenic microflora and normalization of the normal state of the microbiocenoses of the mucous membranes.
In the second trimester of pregnancy, decasana is allowed, if there are no contraindications. Also, the use of the drug is justified in extreme cases, if it is impossible to do without drugs. It should also be taken into account that in this case, individual intolerance may be observed, therefore, if adverse reactions occur, the treatment regimen should be reviewed.
In the third trimester of pregnancy, the use of Dekasan is not always useful. It is used in cases of extreme necessity, since in the third trimester the body's sensitivity usually increases, and intolerance to many components is often noted. In severe respiratory diseases, the use of Dekasan is still necessary, since the benefit from treatment will be much higher than the harm from lack of treatment.
It is important to remember that self-medication is absolutely forbidden during pregnancy. Before using any remedy, you must first consult a doctor.
Contraindications to the procedure
Dekasan for inhalation, like any drug, has its contraindications for use. Thus, it is contraindicated in case of allergic reaction, individual intolerance and increased sensitivity of the body. In its pure form, the drug is contraindicated for children under 12 years of age (due to the high sensitivity of the mucous membranes, it must be diluted with saline). Contraindications to any inhalation include frequent nosebleeds, neoplasms in the nasal cavity, adenoids in children. It is not recommended to prescribe to children under one year of age. Some doctors do not recommend using the drug for children under 3 years of age.
Consequences after the procedure
Adverse effects after the procedure are extremely rare, since Dekasan has virtually no side effects. In exceptional cases, allergic reactions may occur, and cases of individual intolerance have been registered. This is possible if a person has an individual intolerance to the substances included in the drug. It is also worth noting that when using the drug in its pure form in children under 12 years of age, intolerance, irritation and swelling of the mucous membranes, up to a chemical burn, are possible. This is due to the fact that children have highly sensitive mucous membranes. Therefore, children need to dilute the drug with saline.
Complications after the procedure
When inhaling with Decasan, complications after the procedure are usually not observed. The exception is cases when the procedure was performed incorrectly or contrary to contraindications. Complications are possible in case of individual intolerance, as well as in the case when pure, undiluted preparation is used by children under 12 years of age. It should be taken into account that some patients after inhalation with a nebulizer feel a tickling sensation, slight burning and tingling in the throat, nasal congestion occurs, sometimes eyes water. This may be due to maceration of the mucous membranes, during which they swell, fill with the drug, and are slightly irritated. As a rule, these sensations pass on their own within half an hour. If they do not pass, it is recommended to rinse the throat with warm boiled water.
Care after the procedure
No specific care is required after the procedure. The procedure is quite simple and safe. However, it is necessary to take into account some factors that can speed up or slow down recovery: the patient should be warm, dressed in warm, woolen clothes. Even better - to carry out the procedure early in the morning, while still in bed, after which it is recommended to lie down (sleep) for 30-40 minutes. Or it is recommended to carry out the procedure in the evening, just before going to bed, so that immediately after its completion you can go to bed, covered with a warm blanket. If you feel a sore throat, you can gargle with warm water.
Reviews
Analyzing patient reviews of inhalations with Dekasan, it can be noted that positive reviews prevail. Negative reviews are extremely rare, and only with improper use of the drug. Analysis of reviews shows that inhalations significantly alleviate the condition, quickly relieve cough, nasal congestion, runny nose. They have a positive effect on the body, both with dry and wet cough. In most cases, they prevent the development of complications. Quickly relieve nasal congestion. A person can sleep peacefully all night. Complications, side effects are extremely rare. Cases of individual intolerance are also rare. Can be prescribed to both adults and children. The duration of the procedure is about 5 minutes, it is quite simple to carry out, you can do it at home on your own.
Analogues of Decasan
Dekasan is not the only drug that can be prescribed for the treatment of respiratory diseases in the form of inhalations. In Russia, there are analogs of Dekasan, for example, Bioporox, Berodual, Decamethoxin, Malavit, Miramistin, Prospan. The mechanism of action of these drugs is approximately similar. Each of them has a certain anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect, eliminates the main symptoms of nasopharyngeal pathology. Most of them are used as an auxiliary agent, can be part of complex therapy.
Berodual
Prescribed in the form of inhalations for adults and children to treat inflammations, infections in the throat and nose, lower respiratory tract. Berodual acts quickly. It is better to prescribe for chronic pathologies, since it acts for quite a long time, while providing maximum therapeutic effect. It has a cumulative effect. The mechanism of action consists in eliminating inflammation, liquefying sputum, removing sputum, eliminating pathogenic microflora. May have side effects and contraindications. Cannot be used during pregnancy. This is a potent drug that is prescribed for chronic infections. [ 4 ]
Miramistin
Miramistin is an antiseptic agent that has antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal activity. It is used for various respiratory diseases, inflammatory and infectious processes. The main mechanism of action is to reduce the level of bacterial contamination, to eliminate pathogenic microflora, including fungi, protozoa. The drug is used in the form of a spray, solution for rinsing, drops, inhalations. It is used for rinsing the mouth and lubricating the throat and oral cavity. This is one of the few drugs that are active against fungal microflora. Depending on the dosage, it can have both a fungicidal and fungistatic effect. In the first case, the fungal infection is completely destroyed. In the second case, the activity and growth rate of the fungus simply decreases. [ 5 ]
Prospan
A drug that can be prescribed for the treatment of respiratory diseases. It is used for inhalation through a nebulizer. In this case, the product is diluted with saline or distilled water in accordance with the scheme prescribed by the doctor. Sometimes adults are prescribed for rinsing. To do this, you need to prepare a solution; the product cannot be used in its pure form. Dilute at the rate of a tablespoon of the product per glass of water. But in other cases, the doctor may prescribe a more concentrated solution, up to preparing a solution in a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 with water. It has contraindications and side effects, in particular, it is not recommended for patients with cardiovascular pathology, allergic reactions and bronchial asthma. [ 6 ]
Dekasan and ACC for inhalation with a nebulizer
Both drugs have an anti-infective effect. Active against gram-negative and gram-positive microflora, protozoa. The combined action of the two drugs can affect a wide range of microorganisms. Due to the rapid elimination of infection, the inflammatory process is also eliminated quite quickly, recovery occurs faster. Most often, Dekasan and ACC are prescribed for inhalation with a nebulizer, since this is a fast and convenient method of treatment. It is not recommended to use the drugs for children under 12 years of age.
Malavit
Refers to homeopathic remedies that have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antifungal, antibacterial effects. Reduces swelling, eliminates viral infections, has a mild immunostimulating effect. It is intended for treating skin and mucous membranes in infectious pathologies. The drug is based on a mineral-organic complex, medicinal plants. May cause allergies. The advantage is that the drug does not cause resistance in microorganisms. If you use Dekasan for inhalation for a long time, microorganisms can develop resistance to it, as a result of which the drug will be ineffective. Malavit does not have such an effect, and can act as an alternative to Dekasan.
