Angiosarcoma (synonym: malignant hemangioendothelioma) is a tumor that develops from the endothelial cells of blood vessels.

Histopathology

There are usually no specific changes in the epidermis, there are signs of banal inflammation. In the dermis - vascular anastomosis with atypical cells. Spindle-shaped cells resemble cells that occur in Kaposi's sarcoma, or can simulate melanoma or sarcoma.

Symptoms of angiosarcoma of the skin

Angiosarcoma of the skin is often localized on the scalp and face, but can also occur in other areas of elderly males. Initially, the affected area appears as a bruise, chronic congestion or edema. Against this background, cellulitis, nodes and pyoderma are formed. Tumors grow eccentrically and extend beyond the boundaries of the lesion. The tumor is spherical in shape, as a result of the fusion of individual small tumors, a conglomerate of red-violet color is formed. Vessels are visible on the surface.
