Today, diseases of the lower and upper respiratory tract are a serious problem. Diseases are very common. In the spring and fall period, they acquire the character of epidemics. As a rule, ARI are accompanied by a strong cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, conjunctivitis, headaches, intoxication, general deterioration of condition. The danger is that even an ordinary cold can lead to serious complications. Drug therapy does not always bring the expected result, so as an additional means of treatment can be alkaline inhalation.

What is alkaline water?

Today it is becoming more and more common to hear about alkaline water. What is alkaline water? It is known that there are acidic and alkaline environments. So, if the pH value is below 7, we are talking about an acidic environment. If the pH is above 7, it is reasonable to talk about an alkaline environment. Accordingly, water with a pH above 7 is alkaline. Average indicators of alkaline environment - pH = 8-9, because pH = 7 - is a neutral environment, pH = 10-14 - is pure alkaline. Alkaline water is readily available from individual manufacturers. It can be extracted from alkaline mineral springs, or enriched in artificial conditions. The most famous is Borjomi, Essentuki. You can prepare such water at home, using baking soda and lemon.

Indications for the procedure

Alkaline water is used practically in all fields of medicine. It is used in gastroenterology, urology, gynecology, phthisiatrics, pulmonology, pediatrics. But the main indication for inhalation - colds and inflammatory processes accompanied by cough, runny nose. Appointed for acute respiratory infections, acute respiratory viral infections, bacterial, viral, combined infections. To inhalation resort to angina, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy, rhinitis, sinusitis, maxillary sinusitis. Appointed as a therapeutic and prophylactic agent, especially in the season of epidemics.

Alkaline inhalation alleviates the condition of chronic and sluggish allergic, inflammatory processes accompanied by edema, hyperemia, increased sensitization. Appointed in bronchial asthma, asthmatic bronchitis. Also used to normalize microflora, colonization resistance. Alkaline inhalation normalizes microflora, water-salt balance. This is important during recovery, rehabilitation, after inflammatory and infectious diseases of the respiratory tract, because it significantly increases the body's ability to naturally resist infections, increases resistance and endurance, stimulates local and systemic immunity.

Significantly reduces the risk of allergic and atopic reactions, eliminates inflammation, redness and swelling of mucous membranes. Contribute to the restoration of normal throat, mucous membranes in the presence of chronic foci of infection.

Alkaline inhalation for a dry cough

Alkaline inhalations are indicated for both dry coughs and wet coughs. They relieve pain and inflammation, eliminate throat congestion. The danger of a dry cough is that it causes constant irritation of the respiratory tract, and relief and expectoration of sputum does not occur. In addition to discomfort, unpleasant subjective feelings of the patient, there are also many risks of complications. For example, if sputum is not excreted, it accumulates in the respiratory tract. Gradually, the alveoli and bronchioles are clogged, spasm, cells begin to deteriorate, stick together, cease to fulfill their function. Accordingly, gas exchange is hampered, the excretion of by-products, gases occurs at a reduced rate. Therefore, the symptoms of intoxication gradually increase. At the same time, the condition worsens, local body temperature often rises, edema develops, mucus can not be normally excreted outside.

Alkaline inhalation for dry coughs dissolves sputum and promotes its elimination. They also help to relax the smooth muscle layers of the bronchi, which helps to relieve spasms. There is stimulation of receptors, thanks to which there is a cough reflex, and dissolved sputum is excreted. As a rule, alkaline inhalation helps to eliminate sputum and toxins, turning the cough into a productive form (into a wet cough). Therefore, it often gives the impression that the condition has worsened. In fact, this is not the case. The transition of a dry cough into a wet cough is a positive sign, because with a wet cough, sputum is expelled and recovery is faster.

Alkaline inhalation for bronchitis

Alkaline inhalations are prescribed for bronchitis. It is recommended to additionally enrich the alkaline water with essential oils that have a positive effect on the bronchial tree.

Essential oils can only be used for steam inhalation. Essential oil is not added to the nebulizer, because highly dispersed particles can penetrate deep into the bronchi, respectively, it can cause bronchospasm, allergic reaction, even in a healthy person.

Consider the main recipes that can be used to conduct steam alkaline inhalation for bronchitis. To carry out, it is necessary to prepare in advance the active substance on the basis of essential oils, then heat alkaline water (Esentuki, Borjomi, or other) to a state in which there will be steam, but there will not be a full boil. Then the prepared mixture is added to the water, poured into a container, covered with a towel, leaning over the container.

  • Recipe #1.

Take about 50 ml of castor oil as a base, put it in a separate iron bowl, place it on a water bath or low heat. With constant stirring, heat, but do not bring to a boil. Then add 1 drop each of the following essential oils: tea tree, eucalyptus, juniper. Take off the fire, cool, add 5 ml of solution to preheated alkaline water (Borjomi, Esentuki).

  • Recipe #2.

We take 2 tablespoons of wheat germ oil as a base. Mix it with a tablespoon of propolis, previously melted on a water bath, add 2 drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Stir, insist for about 15-20 minutes, use for inhalations (a tablespoon per 5 liters of alkaline water).

  • Prescription #10.

Glycerin (20-30 ml) is taken as a base. Add to it 2 ml of freshly squeezed kalanchoe juice. Mix thoroughly, add 2-3 drops of rosemary essential oil. Stir and add to the alkaline water.

Alkaline inhalation for laryngitis

With laryngitis often appears cough, runny nose, so in addition to the main therapy prescribe alkaline inhalation. This allows you to prevent the development of complications, prevents the transition of the disease to the lower respiratory tract. Alkaline water helps to expel phlegm, reduce fever and inflammation. Inhalation helps to cope with intense pain in the throat area, cough, runny nose. It is effective in redness of the throat, inflammation of tonsils and lymph nodes.

The main advantage of alkaline inhalations is the ability to stimulate immunity, normalize mucous membranes, microflora, mucociliary clearance, increase the adaptive potential of the body, eliminate toxins, relieve swelling and inflammation, prevent the development of infection. Fighting infection is carried out by natural mechanisms, which allows the use of alkaline inhalation for children, pregnant women, nursing mothers. In laryngitis alkaline inhalation, by affecting the mucous membranes, restoring their pH, stimulate the natural defense mechanisms of the body, forcing it to independently fight infection and recover. First of all, this can be achieved by increasing immunity and non-specific resistance system, normalizing microflora.

Alkaline inhalation for pharyngitis

Alkaline inhalations can be useful for pharyngitis. It is quite easy to carry them out. There are two main ways: you can use a nebulizer. This is a special device, there is a splitting of medicinal solutions into finely dispersed particles. Then a person inhales air with these particles. They settle on the lungs, bronchi and have a therapeutic effect. It should be noted that in pharyngitis it is preferable to use this method, since small particles are able to penetrate much deeper into the respiratory tract, causing a corresponding reaction.

There is a second way - carrying out steam inhalations. For this, you also need to prepare water in advance, after which it is heated to a state in which vaporization begins. After that, we pour water into a basin, cover ourselves with a towel on top, and begin to breathe with this water. It is best to do such procedures several times a day - in the morning, and in the evening, just before going to bed. It is recommended to inhale through the nose, exhale - through the mouth. Then change the direction - inhale through the mouth, exhale - through the nose. The duration of the procedure should be about 15-20 minutes, the course of treatment - 10 procedures.

Preparation

Before you start inhalation, you need to make preliminary preparations. First of all, it is necessary to decide what method of inhalation will be used. Further preparation depends on this. If inhalations are carried out with a nebulizer - the preparation consists only of assembling the device and properly fill it with water.

When carrying out steam inhalations, the preparation consists of heating water to a temperature of 75-80 degrees, at which the vapor begins to evaporate. Then it is necessary to prepare a basin, or other dishes into which the liquid will be poured. In advance, you should prepare 2 towels. One towel you will be covered, leaning over the basin during the procedure, the second will be needed to blot the face immediately after the procedure. You should also prepare warm socks, a warm robe, or any other clothes. When carrying out the procedure in the evening, it is better to immediately make a bed, so that after inhalation as soon as possible to lie down, wrapped in a warm blanket.

Alkaline solution for inhalation

There are 4 types of alkaline solutions used for inhalation:

  1. Ready-made alkaline water bought from a pharmacy or store. On the package should be written the level of alkalinity. Most often it is Borjomi, Essentuki water extracted from alkaline springs.
  2. For preparation, you can use baking soda and salt in the ratio of 2:1, where 1 part - baking soda, 2 parts - salt. About a teaspoon of salt and two teaspoons of baking soda are dissolved in a glass (250 ml) of warm boiled water.
  3. Water prepared on the basis of lemon: 1 lemon is crushed, poured a liter of water for a day, insisted.
  4. Alkaline water enriched with herbal decoctions or essential oils (water with essential oils cannot be used for inhalation with a nebulizer, as severe bronchospasm may occur).

There are quite a few recipes for preparing enriched alkaline water for inhalation. Let's consider the main ones.

  • Recipe #1.

Squeeze the juice of one lemon, mix it with warm water in a ratio of 1:1 (as much lemon juice as water). Use it for inhalations. You can alternate inhalations with lemon water with inhalations using orange juice, tangerine juice, juice from limes, grapefruit, pomelo.

  • Recipe #2.

For inhalations it is recommended to use alkaline water with the addition of freshly squeezed lemon juice according to the following scheme:

  1. Day 1-2 - for 2 liters of water add 50 ml of lemon juice;
  2. Day 3-4 - on 1.5 liters of water add 50 ml of lemon juice;
  3. Day 5-6 - 50 ml of lemon juice dissolve in 1 liter of warm water
  4. Day 7-9 - mix 0.5 liters of water and 50 ml of lemon juice.
  • Recipe #3.

In preheated alkaline water add 1 tablespoon of the following mixture: 2 chicken yolks, juice of one lemon, 100 grams of honey, 100 ml of brandy. Dissolve all of this in water and inhale for 10-15 minutes.

  • Recipe #4.

In warm alkaline water (250-300 ml), add about 100 ml of red wine. Inhale the air for 10-15 minutes.

  • Recipe #5.

Heat alkaline water with constant stirring. As soon as the water is warm, add 2-3 tablespoons of dry crushed licorice roots (per 200-300 ml of water). Bring to a boil, boil for 1-2 minutes, pour into a container for inhalation.

  • Prescription #6.

In alkaline water add a teaspoon of ground coffee, heat to a light boil, use for inhalation. You can add 0.5 teaspoons of sugar or honey just before the procedure.

  • Recipe #7.

Mix in equal parts (about 100 ml) black coffee (or strong tea), lemon juice, alkaline water. Bring to a boil, use for inhalation.

  • Recipe #8.

Heat alkaline water (about 1 liter), add to it about 100 grams of dried lemon peel. Boil for 5-6 minutes. Pour into a container, carry out the procedure.

  • Prescription #9.

Alkaline water can be prepared using a mixture of grapefruit, celery, carrot and spinach juice. All these juices should be taken in equal parts, mixed, heated, and used for inhalation.

  • Prescription #10.

Alkaline water is obtained by mixing grapefruit, celery and spinach juices in equal parts, heating them and using them for inhalation. You can use a pure mixture of juices, you can dilute them with water (Essentuki, Borjomi) in a ratio of 1:1.

  • Prescription #11.

Alkaline water will be obtained if you mix the juice of potatoes with water in a ratio of 1:1.

Solution composition in percent

It is necessary to take 10% baking soda and 5% salt. You can use both ordinary food salt and sea salt.

There is another option for preparing alkaline water: you need to take 10-20% lemon juice and 80-90% water, mix it all up.

Alkaline water will also be obtained if you mix juice and water in the percentage ratio of 50% to 50%. It is also possible to prepare alkaline water from a mixture of grapefruit, spinach, carrot and celery juices. You need to take 25% of each of the juices, without using any water. You can use a mixture of grapefruit juice, celery juice, and birch sap in the following percentages: 40% grapefruit juice, 20% celery juice, and 40% birch sap.

Technique of the alkaline inhalations

The technique of alkaline inhalations is quite simple, and they can be carried out at home. It is necessary to follow certain rules, which may differ slightly. So, the use of a nebulizer implies the need to properly assemble the device, pour the medicine. Everything else is prescribed in the manual.

If you carry out steam inhalation, you need to prepare a container and a towel in advance. Then the liquid is heated, poured into the container. After that, you should bend over and start breathing: first slowly and smoothly inhale air through the nasal cavity. Then slowly exhale the same air through the mouth. Try to breathe so that the air penetrates as deeply as possible. Full breathing techniques are recommended. First take the deepest belly breath possible, blowing forward and filling the entire abdominal cavity with air. Then smoothly fill the chest with air, expanding it as much as possible. After that we fill the clavicle area, trying to raise them and slightly bring them forward, filling the cavity with air. Then we exhale in the reverse order.

Alkaline inhalations in a sanatorium

Sanatorium-resort recovery is represented by a number of procedures of therapeutic and recreational nature. Alkaline inhalations are widely used in sanatoriums. Widely used as ordinary alkaline water, which is available on sale, and water extracted from natural sources. On sea coasts, sea water is used. In the mountains, mountain water, formed at the time when the snow melts, glaciers are widely used. Some sanatoriums as a basis for inhalation use melt water, which is obtained by melting snow, less often - ice. Sanatoriums also use water extracted from various alkaline sources. Water obtained from mountain streams and springs, geysers and lakes has useful properties.

Sanatoriums use both pure and enriched base. Widely used are speleo-chambers, halochambers, where fine particles of alkaline water are atomized. A person in this chamber, inhales such air, which has a therapeutic effect, primarily on the respiratory system. Such procedures are carried out mainly in sanatoriums for patients with diseases of the bronchopulmonary system, for patients with pathology of the cardiovascular system.

Alkaline nebulizer inhalation for adults and children

The easiest and most convenient way to perform alkaline inhalations is with a nebulizer. It is prescribed for adults and children. When using a nebulizer, it is necessary to prepare the nebulizer itself: open the package, carefully read the instructions. It is necessary to assemble the nebulizer in strict accordance with the instructions. Then you can prepare the solution directly. It can be prepared in two ways:

  1. Dissolve baking soda and salt in warm water;
  2. Pour in finely chopped lemon (must be infused for 24 hours).

Alkaline oil inhalation.

A positive effect can be achieved by prescribing oil-alkali inhalations. These inhalations are carried out using the steam method. Using a nebulizer in this case is not recommended, because the oil emulsion spoils the device. In addition, oil can not fully form a finely dispersed medium, which leads to the formation of a film on the surface of the mucous membranes. In the future, this may entail a violation of microflora, inflammatory processes of local character.

Steam oil inhalation, on the contrary, softens irritation, prevents further progression, accelerates recovery, promotes the expectoration of sputum outside, relieves the inflammatory process.

Let's consider the main recipes for oil-alkaline inhalations. It should be noted that as a basis is taken alkaline water, which can be used ready-made, or prepared at home yourself using one of the above recipes. Water is heated to a temperature of 80-90 degrees (bring to a boil is not necessary, but you need to make sure that the water was steam). Then the water is poured into a container for inhalation (basin, wide bowl). It is added 1-3 tablespoons of oil base, depending on the severity of the disease (at the rate of 1 liter of alkaline water). Then the patient leans over the container, begins to inhale steam. The oil base should be stirred, if possible, until completely dissolved (if it has the property to dissolve in water). The following are recipes for oil bases.

  • Recipe #1.

On a glass of preheated vegetable oil add a tablespoon of vodka and crushed into powder dry lemon peel. All this is thoroughly mixed, covered tightly with a lid, kept for 30-40 minutes.

  • Recipe #2.

Pour the powdered leaves of calamus and nettle dicot into the following mixture of juices: grapefruit juice, celery juice in a ratio of 1:1. Fill to the top of a liter bottle with vegetable oil. Thoroughly mixed, added to a container with heated alkaline water 3-5 minutes before the procedure. It is recommended to carry out the procedure at night, before going to bed. After lying in bed, covered with a warm blanket, sleep until morning. The course of treatment is 14-21 days.

  • Recipe #3.

Tincture of hawthorn, lemongrass and dogwood are mixed together in a ratio of 1:2:1, then pour a glass of milk (better ghee), bring to a boil, set aside. Add 500 ml of olive oil. Infuse for at least 2-3 hours. Add to the pre-prepared solution for inhalation.

  • Recipe #4.

For preparation take honey and grated horseradish (about 50 grams each), melt on a water bath, add 2-3 drops of essential oils of orange, eucalyptus and thuja, insist at least 2-3 hours. Add to the water for inhalation 2-3 minutes before the procedure.

  • Recipe #5.

Take in equal parts juices of red beets, black radish, onions. Take about 2-3 tablespoons of each component, add 300 ml of grape seed oil, stir, insist at least 1.5-2 hours. Use for inhalations, adding to alkaline water. The course of treatment - 28 days.

  • Prescription #6.

As a base take about 250-300 ml of sea buckthorn oil. Then add about a tablespoon of the following components: cranberry, lemon, juice of one large aloe leaf, sugar. Stir, insist for at least an hour. Apply a thin layer on the affected areas.

  • Recipe #7.

In heated wheat germ oil (250 ml) add sugar (1 teaspoon), propolis (2 tablespoons), 96% alcohol (50-100 ml). Boil for 2-3 minutes on low heat. Add to a pre-prepared container for inhalation with alkaline water.

Inhalation with alkaline mineral water

Alkaline mineral water used for inhalation - Borjomi, Essentuki. It must be heated. As soon as the vapor begins to evaporate, you can start the procedure. You can use a nebulizer, you can use steam inhalation. Nebulizer inhalations are recommended for diseases of the lower respiratory tract, while for diseases of the upper respiratory tract it is advisable to carry out steam inhalations.

Inhalation with mineral water (alkaline) is used both as an independent therapeutic remedy and as an important component of complex treatment for respiratory diseases. Inhalations help a person to get rid of such symptoms as severe coughing, burning, and throat congestion. Often the indication for the appointment of alkaline inhalations are asthmatic, allergic diseases in the respiratory tract, spasms, postoperative and chronic conditions, enlargement and soreness in the area of lymph nodes, night snoring.

The range of indications for the use of alkaline inhalations is quite extensive. Recommended for any diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract (especially if this condition is accompanied by intense pain, cough, runny nose). Helps with redness of the throat, inflammation of tonsils and lymph nodes, in preparation for surgical interventions in the respiratory tract.

Alkaline water is used as a base. Any medicine, active ingredient, ointment can be added to it. It is possible to use just inhalation with alkaline mineral water, without adding any other substances. Such inhalations effectively relieve, prevent complications and relapses of cough, eliminate congestion, accelerate metabolic processes. Recovery comes much faster. Used both in therapeutic and pediatric practice for a long time.

Alkaline salt inhalation

Salt-alkali inhalation means inhalation based on alkaline water and salt. As a rule, alkaline water is prepared at home or purchased ready-made, extracting it from alkaline mineral springs. It should be noted that such water contains a high percentage of salt. If the usual alkaline water is prepared in a ratio of 1:2 with soda, where 1 part of salt is 2 parts of soda, salt-alkaline water is prepared in a ratio of 1:1, and sometimes even 1:3, where 1 part is soda, and 3 parts - the salt. Many experts recommend using not ordinary food salt, but sea salt. Such inhalations are recommended in the form of steam inhalations. Nebulizer is not recommended, because small particles of salt, settled on the mucous membranes, can lead to burn mucous membranes, irritation of inflamed airways.

Warm alkaline inhalation

Heat-alkali inhalation can be performed in several ways. The simplest way is the usual steam inhalation, after which the patient will need dry heat. It is necessary to wrap the throat with a warm scarf, put on warm woolen socks. It is recommended to wrap yourself in a warm blanket. You can drink hot tea with honey, but if you do not have to get up to prepare it (if the kettle is at the bedside, or if someone brings the patient ready-made tea).

The second way to conduct warm-alkaline inhalations is to prepare gauze and absorbent cotton in advance, soak it in a warm solution for inhalation, apply it to the nose, inhale. At the same time, you can put a similar compress on the throat area, and with a wet cough, bronchitis - on the sternum area. As a basis, you can use not only alkaline water, but also one of the following recipes.

  • Recipe #1.

About 30 minutes before inhalation, it is recommended to rinse the nose and throat with a decoction of sage, which has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties. It should be borne in mind that you can not drink this decoction, because if ingested, it causes gastric ulcers, ulcerative gastritis. Then, after 30 minutes it is recommended to put a warm compress on the throat and inhalation of the following decoction: 2 tablespoons of honey, chamomile flowers, the juice of one lemon per glass of hot alkaline water. The compress is applied for 30-40 minutes. Inhalation is carried out for 15-20 minutes. After the end of the procedure, you need to lubricate the affected area with a softening cream. An ordinary children's cream, petroleum jelly, glycerin will do.

  • Recipe #2.

On a glass of preheated olive oil add a tablespoon of lemon juice, aloe juice, grated garlic. All this is thoroughly mixed, covered tightly with a lid, kept for 30-40 minutes. Add to the water for inhalation.

  • Recipe #3.

Prepare in advance a mixture of garlic, celery, horseradish and lemons (approximate proportions - 15 grams of each remedy per 250 ml of olive oil). Olive oil is taken as a base, and the above mixture is added to it. Thoroughly mixed, added to a container with heated alkaline water for inhalation. It is recommended to carry out the procedure at night, before going to bed. After lying in bed, covered with a warm blanket, sleep until morning. The course of treatment - 10-15 days.

  • Recipe #4.

Crushed head of garlic, juice of one lemon and honey, mixed together in a ratio of 1:2:1, then pour a glass of boiling water. Infuse for at least 20-30 minutes. Then the above mixture is added to the water for inhalations. The course of treatment - 7-14 days.

Contraindications to the procedure

Contraindications to the use of alkaline inhalation are not many, but they need to be known and taken into account in order not to worsen the situation. Basically contraindications are considered any serious lung pathology early postoperative period. It is worth refraining from inhalations with pulmonary bleeding, hemoptysis, with the appearance of impurities of blood in the sputum. This is due primarily to the fact that any inhalations thin the blood. This fact must necessarily take into account people with impaired blood clotting. A strict contraindication - hemophilia, a tendency to bleeding. Nebulizer inhalations may be contraindicated for people with a tendency to edema, including internal edema of the respiratory tract and mucous membranes.

Steam inhalation is strictly contraindicated in patients with a tendency to cardiovascular pathologies, because they create an additional load on the heart and circulatory system. For similar reasons, inhalation is not recommended for use in renal failure, diseases that are in the exacerbation stage. Elevated body temperature is a strict contraindication to conducting inhalations with a steam method. Some inhalations with the use of nebulizer can be allowed against a background of fever, but it is necessary to consult with a doctor, since in each case appointments are made strictly individually.

Due to the increased load on the heart, the circulatory system, unnecessarily should not prescribe alkaline inhalation to pregnant women, nursing mothers, as well as children under 3 years old. The procedure is contraindicated in case of increased individual sensitivity, intolerance.

Consequences after the procedure

When carrying out alkaline inhalation, negative consequences are usually not observed. The exception is when the procedure was carried out contrary to contraindications. Then complications may arise. In some patients after inhalation with a nebulizer, there is a sensation of peppiness, slight burning and tingling in the throat, sometimes there is nasal congestion. This may be due to maceration of mucous membranes (their swelling under the influence of therapeutic components). As a rule, these sensations go away on their own within half an hour.

During steam inhalations, there is often a feeling of heat, burning in the upper or lower respiratory tract, a slight chill. These sensations are also not long-lasting and are due to the effect of the medicinal components and heat on the body.

Otherwise, the effects are favorable to the respiratory tract. Alkaline water shows tropism to the receptors of the alveolar pathways, affecting them. Thanks to its lytic properties, its ability to equalize pH, it changes the physicochemical properties, viscosity and consistency of sputum. As a result, sputum becomes more liquid, facilitates its excretion outside, from the respiratory tract. This significantly accelerates recovery, relieves the inflammatory process. In addition, the fine particles included in the fine mixture in the nebulizer, vapor particles, by stimulating receptors, increase coughing, which also contributes to reflex expectoration of sputum.

Complications after the procedure

As a rule, if inhalations are performed correctly, there are no complications after this procedure. Complications may occur only if there were contraindications to the procedure. For example, if the patient has a diseased heart, or blood circulation is impaired, there may be problems and complications from the cardiovascular system. Arrhythmias, extrasystoles, heart blockages, various heart rhythm disorders are often observed. After steam inhalations, an attack of angina pectoris, high blood pressure, hypertensive crisis can occur. Myocardial infarction often occurs, especially in elderly people with cardiovascular pathology.

Complications of the kidneys, liver, may occur if the patient has a tendency to renal disease, liver pathologies. When using auxiliary substances, such as essential oils, plant decoctions, an attack of allergic reaction, hypertensive crisis, anaphylactic shock, Quincke's edema may occur. Also complications can be associated with the use of essential oils in the nebulizer: they can cause severe swelling, burn of the mucous membrane, bronchospasm, an attack of suffocation. Otherwise, if the procedure is carried out correctly, observing the safety rules, there are no complications after the procedure.

Care after the procedure

No specific care and rehabilitation is required after the procedure. But the patient should stay warm, be dressed in warm, woolen clothes. It is also recommended to perform the procedure in the evening, just before going to bed. After the procedure should be warmly dressed, lie in bed, covered with a warm blanket. Immediately after the procedure it is recommended to drink hot tea (lying in bed). Tea can be with the use of vegetable decoctions, with the addition of honey, nectar or propolis. Also, jam added to the tea has a positive effect.

Testimonials

Analyzing patient reviews about alkaline inhalation, it can be noted that positive reviews predominate. Negative reviews are extremely rare, and only when the drug is used incorrectly.

In general, alkaline inhalations, significantly alleviate the condition, quickly relieve cough. They have a positive effect on the body, both with dry and wet cough. Inhalations eliminate coughing, stuffy throat and nose, pain, inflammation. An important advantage of this method is that inhalation prevents the development of complications, have the ability to dissolve sputum and remove it from the respiratory tract. Act inhalation quickly. After the first procedure facilitates breathing, normalizes the state of the throat. A person can sleep peacefully. Already after 2-3 days significantly reduced cough, nasal congestion.

Alkaline inhalation is used both for children and adults. Which method to choose - nebulizer or steam inhalation - depends on the individual characteristics of the patient, the severity of the condition, anamnesis. Full recovery usually occurs on 5-7 days, this is the minimum course of treatment. In general, it is recommended to carry out at least 10 inhalations.
