Symptoms of corneal sensitivity often provoke the appearance of keratitis. This pathology is known under the name of neurotrophic keratitis, although the main etiological significance is caused by the disappearance of tear film, a decrease in the frequency of blinking movements and a recurring injury of the cornea, rather than a neurotrophic factor.
The secondary nature of the disorder of the sensitivity of the cornea in cases of damage to the V pair of cranial nerves in combination with:
- herpes zoster,
- trauma;
- intracranial tumors;
- herpes simplex;
- oculo-facial syndrome;
- the Goldenhar syndrome;
- leprosy;
- poisoning with carbon disulphide and hydrogen sulphide;
- Riley-Dey's syndrome;
- syndrome MURCS.
With recurrent erosions and low effectiveness of the treatment, the risk of secondary infection is increased. Especially difficult for correction cases with concomitant lagophthalmia and pathology of the tear apparatus. This combination is the case with Riley-Dey's syndrome, leprosy and some brain tumors.
What do need to examine?
