Essential oil has many useful qualities and properties, therefore it is often used in cosmetology, as well as alternative treatment and aromatherapy. With the correct application of such concentrated phyto-essences, you can get rid of various diseases and preserve the beauty and youthfulness of the skin. But misuse can be the cause of quite unpleasant manifestations - such as itching, burning, pain, redness on the skin. Since these oils contain about 300 volatile elements, they are included in the group of strong liquids. That is why a burn with essential oil is one of the most common situations in the process of its use.

Burn with essential oil of orange

Orange oil can not be applied in sunny weather. This is due to the fact that this substance has phototoxic properties - it accumulates sunlight on it. As a consequence, it can cause severe burns.

Also remember that on sensitive skin orange oil is not recommended to use for a long time and in large doses - it can increase the photosensitivity of the skin and can cause inflammation.

Before using, you need to check the oil for individual tolerability. Do not apply to the undiluted skin. If you intend to use a cosmetic remedy, find out the dosage for your skin type.

Complications and consequences

Usually essential oils do not lead to burns of III or IV degrees, but they still can cause considerable problems - the appearance of redness, itching, pain, burning, blisters. If you do not conduct adequate treatment, you can put the infection in the wound, which will lead to much more serious complications.

Treatment of the burn with essential oil

A small burn with essential oil can be cured at home - in this case, you need to treat the wound with an anti-burn spray or ointment. Another effective tool is sea-buckthorn or lavender oil (it should be used only in diluted form).

What should I do if I burn with essential oil?

When burning with essential oil, immediately flush the affected part of the body under cold running water for at least 10 minutes. In addition, it is recommended to attach ice or some frozen product to the damaged area (it must first be laid in a clean bag). Remove the residue of essential oil from the area of damage with a cotton swab, which must first be soaked in soap solution.

After cooling, the burnt skin should be gently dried using a cloth (it should not be fluffy - gauze, a waffle towel, or a bandage will do). Next, you need to carefully examine the skin - if the burn only blushed, and it formed small blisters, the dressing will not be needed. Such burns are treated at home - they need to be treated every day, using special anti-burn preparations.

In the event that large blisters with serous hemorrhagic fluid are present on the wound, this burn can only be treated by a qualified specialist. Therefore, it is necessary to impose a sterile bandage on the burned area (it should not be tight), and immediately go to the doctor.

Medications

Panthenol can be used immediately for burns. The spray is used as follows - the can should be in an upright position. To foam on the skin, you need to shake it before use. Apply the spray in a few seconds - an even layer over the entire affected area of the skin. The formed foam creates a thin film on the site of inflammation that does not allow the liquid to escape, and also has a dermatoprotective effect. The medicine must be applied daily several times (the amount depends on the strength of the changes). The product is intended for external use only.

Olazole is applied every day (or every other day) 1-4 times. Application should be carried out evenly over the entire area of the lesion. Before use, the can should be shaken, then remove the safety head, change it to a working head, and, pressing the valve, spray the foam onto the wound from a distance of 1-5 cm.

Side effects of Olazole: with long-term use or overdose, there may be abnormalities in the functioning of the kidneys, a toxic reaction (severe vomiting and diarrhea, rashes on the skin, exfoliation of the upper skin, convulsions, headache, and sometimes shock).

Olazole can not be used by pregnant women, during lactation (with the treatment of the mammary glands), with kidney disorders and individual sensitivity to the components of the spray. It is not recommended to apply the drug to large areas of the skin.

Alternative treatment, herbal treatment

Treatment of the burn with essential oil is performed with the help of well-known, classical remedies used for various burns. Among the methods of alternative treatment:

  • the use of compresses made from ordinary tea brewing (firmly brewed);
  • raw potatoes, which need to grind with a grater. The resulting gruel is applied to the damage, using it as a compress. The remains of potatoes should be stored in the refrigerator to replace the compress on the wound every 10 minutes. The improvement should appear fairly quickly - after 10-15 compresses;
  • application of the Kalanchoe plant. It is necessary to cut small pieces finely and make a compress out of them. It removes inflammation and has a cooling effect. The shift should also be done every 10-15 minutes, but in this case 7-10 procedures will suffice.

Prevention

As a prevention in the process of using essential oil, it is necessary to follow the safety requirements exactly. Do not apply it to the skin in undiluted form, first you need to dilute the substance with some kind of base oil. It is also important not to let oil get on the mucous membranes.
