Laser therapy is a method of local exposure to the optical spectrum of electromagnetic radiation with coherence, monochromaticity, and low output power (from 2 to 50 mW), which is performed by means of a radiator located above a certain exposed area of the patient's body at a distance of 10-100 cm or contact.
All physico-chemical and subsequent photobiological reactions in laser therapy are basically similar to those for phototherapy.
The features of the action of the factor are due to the properties of low-energy laser radiation (NLI). Thus, the monochromatic nature of NLI allows it to be significant; spectral density, clearly regulate the APM of a very narrow EMI spectrum. The coherence of NLI significantly increases its intensity in the transverse cut of the beam (frontal intensity of EMR). This property allows for electrodynamic changes in the tissues of the organism with more pronounced (in comparison with the action of incoherent, nonmonochromatic EMR, i.e. Ordinary light) in the tissues of the organism due to the appearance of a pronounced internal photoelectric effect in biological substrates.
It should be noted that, in accordance with the laws of quantum physics, the impact of pulsed NLI at a frequency above 1000 Hz is perceived by the object (bioobject) as a quasi-continuous effect.
The main clinical effects of laser therapy are analgesic, anti-inflammatory, decongestant, antispasmodic, regenerative, desensitizing, immunocorrecting, vasoactive, hypocholesterolemic, vagotonic (in the initial sympathicotonia, i.e., with a predominance of the sympathetic nervous system tone), bactericidal and bacteriostatic .
