Tumors of the middle ear - a rare phenomenon in otolaryngology, but when they occur, there are significant problems related to both diagnosis and treatment. Tumors of the middle ear are divided into benign and malignant.
Benign tumors of the middle ear are extremely rare; maybe, therefore, in classic manuals they are mentioned casually or information about them is given only in periodicals under the heading "Observations from practice". Despite its "benign structure", some of these tumors may differ in clinical manifestations, very similar in their nature to similar manifestations of malignant tumors, in addition, benign middle ear cancers can be malignant; in these cases, considering the proximity to the middle ear of the cranial cavity and large vascular formations, there can sometimes arise insoluble situations, fraught with a threat to the life of the patient. Benign tumors of the middle ear include the glomus tumor, hemangiomas, adenomas and osteomas.
