Another useful and quite popular berry, which, alas, is not yet cultivated in our country, is cranberry. She is from the countries of the Northern Hemisphere, but she already develops new lands in Poland, Belarus and Russia.
Cranberry itself is an acidic berry, so it is difficult to eat it a lot without a sweetener. With diabetes, cranberry berries can be consumed not only in fresh form, but also in the form of mors, kissels, compotes, teas, gravies, adding a sweetener to taste. Children can cook a delicious jelly or add cranberries to various dishes, mixing with other useful products, while controlling the calorie and the daily rate of carbohydrates.

Benefits
Bright red fruits of cranberries with its characteristic pronounced acid and attractive appearance is one of the recognized leaders in the content of ascorbic acid. In addition to it, berries contain stocks of beta-carotene, vitamins E, PP, K and group B. The berry contains all the microelements useful in diabetes, including potassium (its high content has a positive effect on the heart), iodine, necessary for the normal functioning of the thyroid gland, and manganese, which stimulates the synthesis of insulin and participates in glucogenesis (manganese deficiency in the body can cause the development of type 2 diabetes).
Cranberries are a berry, simply created for patients with impaired glucose metabolism. The incredibly low carbohydrate content (only 6 and a half grams per 100 g of product) and calorie content (27 kcal) makes cranberry fruit an affordable and useful treat for daily use with diabetes.
Cranberry contains a special component - ursolic acid, which in its composition and action is equated to the hormones of the adrenal glands, and helps to normalize the hormone disturbed in diabetes. In this case, the use of acid fruits with healing properties is important for diabetes of any type.
Due to its composition, cranberries can reduce glucose and harmful cholesterol in the blood. If the fruits are included in the daily diet, you can achieve maintaining the sugar concentration at a normal level. By stimulating the production of digestive enzymes and the content of dietary fiber, cranberry contributes to the normalization of digestion and speeds up the metabolism.
Fruits help to normalize kidney function, help to strengthen blood vessels and lower blood pressure, help prevent infectious diseases, stimulate regenerative processes in tissues, which is important in the prevention of trophic ulcers .. In its antibacterial properties, this plant is equated with medicines, which allows to reduce their dosage in the treatment of infections and purulent wounds.
Despite the low content of sugars, the cranberry has a fairly high glycemic index, i.e. Sugar from this berry is absorbed rather quickly, which can lead to the development of hyperglycemia. But this is possible only if you consume a large number of berries. Doctors allow daily reception of berries in an amount of 50-100 g, which will only improve the condition of diabetics.
Contraindications
High content of vitamin C and a pronounced acidic taste become an obstacle in the use of these attractive berries with increased acidity of gastric juice. Contraindications are any inflammatory processes in the gastrointestinal organs, which take place in an acute form.
The physician is also advised to follow caution with people with liver diseases or low blood pressure. They are undesirable to eat fruits regularly, although they are not forbidden periodically to eat them.
Cranberries can be dangerous for patients with an allergy in the anamnesis, so when you have suspicious symptoms from eating berries it is better to refuse.
