Attractive view and sweet and sour slightly tart taste of berries makes them popular in the food industry. But this plant also has pronounced healing properties, besides all parts of the plant have a value.

Dogwood refers to fruits with a high content of ascorbic acid. The berries of the plant are also rich in beta-carotene and vitamin PP, and the leaves contain quite high concentrations of vitamin E. The mineral composition of the dogwood differs in variety and is similar to other berries, but the presence of sulfur stimulating carbohydrate metabolism and insulin synthesis makes berries very useful in diabetes.

Tasty and useful berries increase the permeability of cell membranes, improve metabolism and blood composition (increase hemoglobin), strengthen vascular walls, have a positive effect on the liver and urinary system. The general strengthening and tonic effect of the plant, which gives energy and activates the protective functions of the body, will be useful not only for diabetics, but also for the generally healthy people.

Glycemic index cornel is low - only 25 units. For patients with type 2 diabetes, an important role is played not only by the GI product, but also by its caloric value, which is low in corn berries (44 kcal). The carbohydrate content in 100 g of fruit is 10 and a half grams.

As you can see, the cornel berries are completely acceptable for use in diabetes of any type. They can be eaten fresh in 1 glass a day, dividing this dose into 3 doses, or cooking them on the basis of compotes and infusions. To make compote you need to take 1.5 liters of water 1 cup of berries and boil the composition for 3-5 minutes. The infusion is prepared from dried fruits, while 2 glasses of water will need to take 20 g of dry raw material and insist for several minutes. Such drinks are recommended to be consumed between meals in the amount of 1 cup.

Useful for diabetes and regular intake of fresh dogwood juice. It should be used for ¼ cup half an hour before meals, gradually increasing the single dose to 1 cup, if this does not appear unpleasant symptoms.

Contraindications

The fruits of this plant have a pronounced sweet and sour taste and contain a lot of vitamin C, which can adversely affect the condition of patients with high acidity of gastric juice. It is undesirable to get involved in the use of berries for those who have gastritis or stomach ulcers, especially in the stage of exacerbation.

The use of berries can be associated with the emergence of reactions of intolerance or manifestations of allergies. People with symptoms such as skin rashes, runny nose, dizziness, nausea, etc. It is better to abandon this delicacy.

Berries of a cornel are capable to lower arterial pressure, that hardly will bring benefit to patients with a hypotension, but it is necessary by the way to hypertonics.

Toning action of the cornel and its ability to influence uterine contractility can be dangerous for pregnant women.
