Probably, no one needs to be convinced of the therapeutic role of vitamins, and vitamins in pancreatitis - a very serious pancreatic disease - are also important for the treatment of inflammation of her tissues.

And, given the lack of pancreatic enzymes that arise during this disease, which ensure the work of the entire digestive system, the intake of vitamins is recognized by gastroenterologists as mandatory in the chronic form of the disease.

What vitamins can I drink with pancreatitis?

First of all, it should be understood how destructive for the secretory and epithelial cells of the pancreas is its inflammation affecting the parenchyma (in which the acinar tissue of the islets of Langerhans is replaced by fibroids), and the excretory ducts and the feeding organs of the blood vessels. And how limited is the intake of nutrients in the body, when patients need long enough to comply with all the dietary requirements  for pancreatitis.

It should also be borne in mind that vitamins temporarily do not take pancreatitis if they are exacerbated, because in such periods all measures are aimed at reducing the load on the pancreas and maximizing the preservation of its secretory capabilities.

The main vitamins for chronic pancreatitis: A, B1, B2, B3 (RR), B6, B7, B12, C, E, as well as vitamin K. As a rule, the same vitamins are recommended for pancreatitis in old age.

Vitamin A in pancreatitis

Retinol - vitamin A - refers to antioxidants, that is, its intake (3300 IU per day) helps to increase the function of the immune system, stimulating the production of leukocytes and interferon, accelerate the regeneration of damaged cells, and improve the performance of the gastrointestinal tract. In addition to spinach, carrots broccoli, vitamin A is found in red meat and poultry meat.

Doctors warn that exceeding the doses of any vitamins is unacceptable, and recourse to retinol can cause nausea, unstable blood pressure and headache, fever with hyperhidrosis, as well as problems with blood coagulability.

B group vitamins with pancreatitis

Vitamins of this group are necessary to ensure the enzymatic function of the pancreas.

Thiamine (vitamin B1) is needed for normal metabolism, since it is an active biochemical catalyst. Its daily intake for adults should not be above 2.2 mg, otherwise sleep disorders, headaches and tachycardia are possible.

Niacin (vitamin B3, PP or nicotinic acid) has a vasodilating effect and can activate blood circulation in the capillaries of the pancreas, which improves the trophism of its tissues and the repair of secretory and epithelial cells. The permissible daily dose is 25 mg.

It is necessary to take pancreatic inflammation in case of inflammation: pyridoxine (vitamin B6) - 1,5-2,5 mg per day - to increase the elasticity of the vascular walls and normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract; biotin (vitamin B7 or H) - to maintain lipid metabolism and metabolism of carbohydrates and amino acids (enough 45-50 mcg of this vitamin per day); cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) - for a normal level of erythrocytes in the blood and its hemostasis (normal for an adult - 2.5 mcg).

Vitamin C with pancreatitis

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) has powerful antioxidant properties that can help protect the pancreas from damage by free radicals. In addition, this vitamin is an immune system enhancer that can increase resistance to viral and bacterial infections and prevent damage they cause.

A day needs 100 IU of vitamin C, but consumption of more than 200 IU can cause indigestion, flatulence and diarrhea.

Vitamin E in pancreatitis

Tocopherol - vitamin E - is also an antioxidant that can improve blood circulation in the body and thereby help restore damaged pancreatic cells. The optimal daily amount of this vitamin is 30 IU; in addition, its high content of eggs, sunflower oil, whole grain bread, hazelnuts and peanuts. But especially to lean on tocopherol doctors are not advised to avoid exacerbation of symptoms of pancreatitis.

Vitamin K with pancreatitis

As we know, with a chronic pancreatitis associated with a very high probability of a malignant tumor of the pancreas. So, as studies have shown,

Phylloquinone (vitamin K) is able to suppress proliferation (growth) of atypical cancer cells, inhibit their differentiation and even induce apoptosis.

The optimal daily intake of this vitamin (in the absence of a tendency in patients to form clots) is 50-70 μg.

Vitamins for pancreatitis and gastritis

Vitamin A, in addition to the above qualities, improves the work of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, it is advisable to use it with simultaneous inflammation of the pancreas and stomach.

With vitamins C and B3 (PP) should be careful, since vitamin C reduces blood clotting, and nicotinic acid can stimulate the production of gastric juice and promote its acidity, so that having pancreatitis against a background of hyperacid gastritis, vitamin B3 is contraindicated.

Although vitamins in pancreatitis can not replace medications and relieve you of this disease, but without certain vitamins it is much more difficult to improve the condition of the pancreas and maintain the functions of the digestive system
