The basic rules of oral care after a dental operation for tooth extraction surgeons-dentists explain to each of their patients. And every time they warn that starting mouth rinsing after tooth extraction on the same day as the operation was performed, it is impossible in any case. This can be done only a day after tooth extraction.
Rinsing should be very careful - not to damage the blood clot formed in the socket of the removed tooth. The optimum temperature of the rinse solution is +30 -35 ° C. The simplest, but the right tool - a solution of table salt (one teaspoon per 200 ml of warm boiled water). And, it is better not to rinse, and do after eating and before going to bed "bath" for the oral cavity: gain a solution in the mouth, hold 20-30 seconds and spit, repeating it several times.
What to rinse your mouth after tooth extraction?
Mouthwash after tooth extraction is recommended by a doctor and depends on the complexity of the operation performed and the general condition of the patient's oral cavity.
If the removal was without any problems, the following medicines are recommended for mouth rinsing after tooth extraction:
- solution potassium permanganate (potassium permanganate): several crystals dissolve in boiled water (with a temperature of +30 -35 ° C), the solution should have a pale pink color, intensive coloring of the solution is unacceptable, since a chemical burn of the mucosa may occur;
- 0.02% furacilin solution: dissolve 1 tablet of the drug in 100 ml of hot water, cool the solution to room temperature and rinse the mouth after each meal and overnight.
If the tooth is removed with difficulty (with gum tissue cutting or with significant injury), it is recommended to rinse the mouth with the use of a bactericidal drug - Chlorhexidine bigluconate, in the form of a 0.05% aqueous solution. Two or three times a day, this solution should be kept in the mouth for about a minute. The drug is not used after the removal of teeth to patients with dermatitis, as well as children.
Antiseptic, antimicrobial and analgesic preparation Geksoral - a solution for topical application - is prescribed for many pathologies of the oral cavity, including gingivitis, alveolitis, bleeding gums and surgical interventions. Hexoral (10-15 ml of solution per procedure) should be applied in undiluted form in the same way as the previous medical preparation for mouthwash after tooth extraction. Take care that the duration of one such procedure does not exceed 30 seconds.
Broths for mouth rinsing after tooth extraction
To rinse your mouth after tooth extraction, medicinal plants that have long been recognized by dentists as effective agents for solving many oral problems have proven themselves.
It is important to remember: herbal decoctions, like other rinses, should be used only after 24 hours from the time of removal of the tooth.
Infusions and decoctions for mouthwash after tooth extraction are prepared using chamomile, sage, eucalyptus, St. John's wort or marigold. Bactericidal and disinfecting properties are also possessed by peppermint, great plantain, thyme (thyme), sweet potato, chicory common.
Preparation of broth: a tablespoon of a dry plant is poured into 200 ml (a glass) of boiling water, mixed, placed on the fire and brought to a boil, covered with a lid and infused for 25-30 minutes. Before use, the broth must be filtered. Rinse should be slightly warm, it should be done after each meal and before going to bed.
For oral hygiene after tooth extraction, essential oils are used that have antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and deodorizing properties. For example, to prepare mouth rinses after tooth extraction, 3-4 drops of tea tree oil should be added to a glass of warm boiled water. Puffiness after tooth extraction will pass faster if three times a day gently rinse your mouth with this solution: in 200 ml of water (a little warm) add one drop of essential oils of tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint and thyme.
You can also prepare a homemade "rinse" with a disinfectant. To do this, mix a tablespoon of spirits of eucalyptus or mint, five drops of sage or lavender oil and the same amount of bergamot oil. The resulting composition add 6-7 drops to half a cup of warm boiled water and use as a mouth rinse after tooth extraction.
