Few people know what to do when you get a burn from an ointment. When the skin starts to "burn" after applying the ointment, there is a burning sensation, and almost everyone rushes to wash it off with water, but you should not do this when using a warming ointment, it is better to use vegetable oil or a greasy cream (Vaseline, baby cream).

Often, certain types of ointments cause a strong burning sensation on the skin after application. Usually, warming or pain-relieving ointments for external use do not leave severe burns on the skin; after application, pain and redness appear. Severe burns can occur due to exceeding the recommended dosage.

To remove it, it is better to use a cotton or gauze pad, which several times (each time changing the oil or cream) carefully remove the remains of the ointment. After this, it is recommended to wash the affected area with a sufficient amount of warm water and soap. Then you can apply an antiseptic or wound healing agent to the skin.

If the ointment gets on mucous membranes (eyes, mouth, esophagus, etc.), rinse the affected area thoroughly and seek medical help.

What to do in case of a dimexide burn?

Dimexide is an analgesic anti-inflammatory drug that is used locally. Its main feature is that it is able to penetrate the skin, delivering the drugs dissolved in it to the site of inflammation. Dimexide is often prescribed as one of the components of compresses, both for children and adults, but, like any other medication, Dimexide requires careful use and strict adherence to dosage.

If used incorrectly, Dimexide can cause an allergy or a burn.

In this case, the burn is no different from other types of chemical burns: itching, burning, redness, pain.

A severe burn can occur due to too long contact with the skin or failure to comply with the dosage when preparing a solution for a compress. Not everyone knows what to do in case of a dimexide burn, especially if it happened to a small child.

To avoid serious complications, you should seek medical help immediately after a burn, but first aid should be provided before that.

If signs of a burn appear, remove the compress immediately and thoroughly rinse the affected area with cool water. As with other chemical burns, rinse for at least 15 minutes, and cool water will help reduce skin soreness.

After cleaning the skin from the remains of the drug, you need to apply a dry, clean and not too tight bandage to the damaged area, only after that you can go to the hospital yourself or call an ambulance.

It is worth noting that it is not recommended to wipe off Dimexide with dry napkins, gauze, or cotton wool, as this will increase the absorption of the active substance by the skin.

What to do if you get a burn from capsicum?

Kapsikam is a highly warming agent (ointment) made from chili peppers.

Excessive application of the ointment can cause redness of the skin, severe burning. The first thing to do in case of a capsicum burn is to wash off the remaining ointment from the affected area with cool water, then you can apply cream (baby) or an anti-inflammatory agent to the skin.

What to do if you get a finalgon burn?

Finalgon ointment has both an irritating and analgesic effect at the local level, indicated for muscle, joint and other pain. When applied to a problem area of the skin, Finalgon increases blood circulation in this area, which helps reduce pain. The drug should be used in strictly recommended doses, otherwise a slight skin burn is possible.

If you apply too much ointment, you will experience a strong burning sensation, redness, and soreness at the site of the burn. Many people do not know what to do if they get burned by Finalgon. When a strong burning sensation appears, almost everyone tries to wash the ointment off with water, which is the main mistake. Water helps the ointment penetrate into deeper layers of the skin, which only increases the discomfort.

It is better to wash off Finalgon with vegetable oil, rich cream (apply a thick layer and wipe off with a cotton swab), high-fat milk, sour cream, soap foam (or cosmetic foam for washing), using a compress of finely grated carrots.

All products that contain fat help eliminate the burning sensation on the skin caused by the action of the ointment.

You should not try to wash off the ointment with alcohol or alcohol-containing lotions, water emulsions (water), since these products promote deep penetration of the components and do not bring relief from the burn.
